RE: Out of curiosity...

woodpecker, you are the one who misunderstands.

The experiment cannot be faked, because its impossible to do. The experiement with the eggs never happened.

Here is a great analogy to make you understand.

If i say that i can create a blackhole, and ask you whether or not you can fake it, the answer is obvious

You can't fake it cause you never created the blackhole in the first place. It's impossible to do.

get it? it perfectly answers your question

RE: Out of curiosity...

You are still under the impression that I am claiming it happened. For the purposes of you answering my question, I couldn't care less whether it happened. All I want to know is if you think it could be faked and how. The analogy is unnecessary.

So, finally you have answered my question. You think it could not be faked, because you think it is impossible. Fine. All you had to say was that you did not think it could be faked. That's all I was discussing.

What's your opinion, Mr Mayes? Remember, whether the event happened or not is irrelevant to my question.

RE: Out of curiosity...

Oh yes, and another thing. You keep telling me that I am missing the point. How can I be missing it if I am the one (by starting this thread) that defines what 'the point' is anyway?

RE: RE: RE: Out of curiosity...

well you certainly didn't state anything about whether or not you believed in it, so of course we were under the impression that you believed in it, since you also believe in tk right? Sorry for misunderstanding, but you should of made your question clearer since both keith and I assumed that you believed in it.

RE: Out of curiosity...

also, we were saying that you were missing OUR point in discussing your point. There can be many points in a discussion you know.

RE: Out of curiosity...

"Sorry for misunderstanding, but you should of made your question clearer since both keith and I assumed that you believed in it."

See, this is the big problem. By default you assume people believe in tk, even if the only 'evidence' you have is that they are posting here. You will notice I kept my opinion out of this discussion because:

1) It was of no relevance to the discussion,
2) By reading most of the posts and threads here I have discovered that people's beliefs distort your arguing technique. For instance, if they agree with you you will argue fairly and kindly. If they don't, you will be hostile and insult them.
3) I was trying to keep this discussion objective. I have also noticed that your own objectivity is distorted by knowledge of people's beliefs.

I had hoped that by doing this there would be a fair and pleasant discussion. Instead, I discovered that you will only discuss a topic if you know what people's opinion on the matter is and that will define how you argue and how you treat the poster. Also, that you assume everyone who posts here believes in tk even without any evidence whatsoever.

If I caused some confusion in my first few posts I apologise for this, but I think my later ones are quite clear. Yes I agree there are different sides exposed in discussions but you were having difficulty debating the issue without knowing my stance. I see that as a problem. It is possible to debate something from a neutral standpoint, which was my intention.

Another thing I have noticed about you (in another thread) is that you (Keith Mayes) equate respecting people's beliefs with respecting people. They are not the same. Respecting people's beliefs means that however much you dislike the person, you accept that they have a right to think whatever they like. Thus, I may hate you or not but nonetheless I won't insult you for what you believe in. As Voltaire said, "...I will fight to the death your right to say it." This distinction between respecting people's BELIEFS and respecting PEOPLE is important and will prevent many arguments and insults being thrown around.

RE: Out of curiosity...

Woodpecker,
Where in this thread have I been rude to you, insulted you or insulted your belief?

RE: Out of curiosity...

Keith you will notice I said, "another thing I have noticed about you (in another thread)." That bit saying "In another thread" tells you that I am not discussing this thread. I agree you have not insulted or been rude to me in this thread, however you have certainly exhibited that behaviour to people in other threads. This just seemed a good opportunity to mention it.
