RE: Internet connection required

Kronos hit the nail square on the head.

I doubt I will buy any because of requiring a constant internet connection to start or load a game.

If it verified I was legal the first time I downloaded and every time I was connected to the internet and played the module I would gladly buy most of the modules.

I hope the project goes good for them.

custom content

i am interested in purchasing the new mods, but it will be a disappointment if there are new tiles (or tile groups) that we cannot use in our own modules.

Internet Required??

I don't have a home internet connection (it's where I live, nothing I can really do about it!) so I want to purchase and download them at work, and play them at home!!

BioWare: DO NOT require us to have a constant internet connection to play these premium mods! Can't I register them over the phone once I install them at home (like I did with Windows XP)?

Mutliplayer

I doubt I'll buy either of these because they are single player only. WW doesn't count because I already went through that when it originally came out. I don't play single player much at all anymore. I have much more fun playing multiplayer.

On another topic, It seems like ShadowGuard will be pretty low on playing time. $5 for 2-3 hours isn't very good. Kingmaker is closer to $1 an hour which seems like a fair price to me.

Looking forward to DD

I probably be buying them, both to support Bioware and to see what they've done. And any new content.

I prefer building, too. I never finished any of the 3 OC campaigns; maybe a shorter module will keep me interested. :\

I wish all new content was immediately available to purchasers; that would make purchasing somewhat more useful to some.

Tiles and armor etc may have to wait for patches, but somethings like scripts could/should be released with the module as an erf for immediate tinkering value. :D

bioware

well they have given us great games, and since most of their games sell good money shouldnt be a too big problem.

I would only pay for their modules if I had a good guarantee that its good stuff. to be honest I didnt like either of the three campaigns enough to complete them, no, it wasnt too hard for me, it just wasnt nearly as interesting as the online mode. in singleplayer you can never really be the person you want to be, in multiplayer you can since against other players you can say and do what your charackter should do.

Same problem with ALL expansions

This isnt intended to criticize Bioware in particular, more a general whinge about all expansions to games.

When I buy a full game, Im paying £30 (ish) for everything. Development of the engine, design of rules, producing storylines & maps, packaging etc etc.

So when an expansion is released for £20 (ish), I almost always feel slightly annoyed when it's smaller. In most cases expansions add more story/missions - and thats about all. I find it hard to believe that there is even a sizable fraction of the development costs involved in the extras when compared to the main game.

In NWN, I was a bit less disappointed than usual. The expansions added classes, feats, spells, monsters... So there's something new. Something that required work beyond just 'design more maps'.

Now my innate suspicious nature returns on these Premium modules. $7 for seven hours (think thats the estimate on the web site). Ok, on a price per hour basis thats similar to the original, single player game. But the main game was the single player engine, the DM engine, the toolset AND a story. So on an unfair random split, I paid £30 for 4 things, about £7 each. Now they want $7 for one, much smaller part. Seems a bit unbalanced to me, especially as I would consider the original story to have been third in relevance of the four, after the main game engine and the toolset.

I would like to know how far adrift I am on this. Cost to develop NWN vs Cost to develop SoU/HotU vs Cost to develop Premium modules. Maybe a bit cynical here, but I have had many hours of fun from playing dozens of modules and building a couple, so the original price was well worth it. But not so sure about this new stuff...

We should all buy

All I do is build, yet I am buying - I think that the community at large should contribute to BW; lets not forget what they have given us. I have less than $100.00 in all 3 expansions, etc., but have gained $15,000 in entertainment value.

Thats my 2 coppers....

Hum...

If perhaps they had some multi-player modules besides WW (which I wasn't very impressed by), I would be inclined to pay for modules. I find SP mods to be dry, and boring IMHO.

And, if the modules could be modified so DM's and player's alike, so we could AT BARE MINIMUM, add our own rules/content modifications.

I'm not saying that all the scripts and content has to accessible, but at least allow certain DM's/builders to modify the current structure of the mod to include things like DMFI wands, the CEP and such.

Until the pay-for-play mods are more multi-player compatible, and they allow builders to make slight modifications to certain aspects of the module....forget it. I'll save my 10 bucks and build my own. ;p

Not sure the poll results are good

Something about those poll numbers looks funny. Is it possible that folks think they can check only ONE box, instead of multiple boxes? Look at that spread...everything is pretty much between 4% and 8%, with a few exceptions.

I wonder what the numbers would look like if put in blinking letters at the top "Check ALL that apply"?

I would buy if...

I would buy one if it added something extra to playing on a no hak PW, like new voice sets, that everyone could hear, especially, or portraits everyone could see, a new prestige class, new heads, new tatoos, new wings or tails, basically if it added something unique especially a look to my character that everyone could see or hear on a no hak PW. Don't think I saw that option and don't know what else or if anything could be done. Not really looking for a module to play though, unless it was a downloadable PW.

credit cards

If you don't have a credit card - you can get one of those temporary VISA cards that have a fixed amount of money on them and use that instead. I suspect you can get them from banks or major retailors.

but that's not an option in that pool so *Shrug*

...though I have a feeling my boyfriend will want to buy one just for the sake of it :P

Credit Cards

Will definatly buy something (at the very least I HAVE to get WW remastered)... only problem is I don't have a credit card, since I have never had a need for one... so I can only hope my bank is willing to give me one.

I don't think the price is too high, in fact I think it may be a bit low (and still people complain). And since I've got broadband nomatter where I go, the download size is of no consequence to me.

Whats really interresting about the current result here, in my eyes, is that there seem to have been a lot of concern about people with slow connections being unable to download the mods, and yet far more say that they don't have a credit card. Maybe people in the US just have a hard time imagining living without a CC, and think only a few paranoid people living in caves don't have one.

Oh, and I definatly believe this will be great for the community. New inspiration and keeping the motivation of builders alive can never be a bad thing! It would have been a really bad thing if bioware had to abbandon NWN because they couldn't afford to continue their support of it. So I'm very happy about this :)
