Posted By: GirlUWant Posted On: Mar 10, 2005 Views: 575 | RE: Ordinary People So are you from there or how did you luck out to get to live in Hawaii? I have only been to Honolulu back in 1984 on my honeymoon. It was so beautiful, I have great memories of there! What kind of work do you do? |

Posted By: observant Posted On: Mar 10, 2005 Views: 565 | RE: Ordinary People I was stationed on a tiny island 800 miles from here called Johnston Atoll. After getting out of the army and going to college, I decided to go back to that island and work as a civilian. Two years ago, the islands mission was over and everyone had to leave. (It's now a bird sanctuary) I decided to just stay here in Hawaii. For 12 years prior to my current job, I worked with chemical weapons. Now, I do environmental monitoring for Hawaiian Electric. What do you folks do? |
Posted By: GirlUWant Posted On: Mar 10, 2005 Views: 560 | RE: Ordinary People Does the United States own this little island? Is it anywhere near Guam? I am the Accounts Payable Coordinator in the corporate office for a company that owns four nursing homes and a therapy company with three branches! Not nearly as exciting as Chemical Weapons! |
Posted By: observant Posted On: Mar 11, 2005 Views: 553 | RE: Ordinary People Johnston Atoll is controlled by the US. I believe US Fish and Wildlife has control now but prior to 2003, it always belonged to one of the armed services. Most of the atoll is man made and the largest island is only 2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. Chemical weapons work can really get on your nerves. (sorry, nerdy joke) I did weapons research in Ohio for six years while I was going to school and that was the funnest job I've had. My job now just consists of fixing analyzers, climbing smoke stacks, and writing reports. Not terribly exciting, but the pay is ok and it allows me to stay in Hawaii. |

Posted By: GirlUWant Posted On: Mar 11, 2005 Views: 534 | RE: Ordinary People It was so nice up there! I don't miss the rain, but I do miss seeing Mt. Rainier in the background. It has been over ten years since I have been there. I'm sure it has changed. I always thought it would be cool to get to live in Enumclaw or Leavenworth. |

Posted By: Brother Judas Posted On: Mar 11, 2005 Views: 510 | RE: Ordinary People I'm a gay catholic priest in Minnesota. In fact, a lot of my brothers in the parish are gay, we sometimes get together and have big butt naked orgies right in front of the altar! I know Jesus doesn't approve but I've got plenty of time to ask for forgiveness and count my rosary beads. After all, I do sit around the church all day anyway! And you don't want to know what else I do with those beads in my free time! LOL! |
Posted By: adam Posted On: Mar 12, 2005 Views: 504 | RE: Ordinary People lol using rosemary beads as anal beads hmmm...the ultimate sin! |
