RE: Mep Attack

Dr. Phil, you are so in tune! But I have a question, what do you make of Robin with all her botox and excessive make-up? Do you think your wife is trying to hide something other than her years?

RE: Mep Attack

That is a very good question and I appreciate you asking about Robin.

She has always had a penchant for cosmetics. Her philosophy is you can't have too much of a good thing. I have repeatedly told her she looks like a harlot but she usually just giggles a little and pops a few more Prozac. I have a photo album of Robin and I over the past thirty years that illustrates my point at http://www.drphil.com/slideshow/slide.jhtml?contentId=2102_robinvalentin ed.xml&start=2 . Needless to say, the cosmetics bill in the McGraw household could feed a small nation (or me) for a week.

She is starting to show her age and I think she is starting to feel insecure that some young philly is going to replace her in the stable. An example that comes to mind is every Wednesday night our boys and I like to spend a guys night together eating pizza and watching the latest Girls Gone Wild video. She will give little hints of her displeasure by doing things like breaking all the Waterford crystal or cutting her arms up with her Lady Schick. Eventually I end up having to pause the DVD and telling her to 'suck it up, buttercup'. Then I make her bake some cookies.

We have this saying where I come from - "Do as I say, not as I do". How else do you think I could write a diet book.

RE: Mep Attack

So what you're saying is... regardless of any and all rules of grammar, if it’s an expression, it becomes grammatically correct? Well what if Adam misspelled something IN an expression. Would that make it correct?

Also. Just because Google comes up with something doesn’t make it a valid word. Indeed when you search for "spellchecking" it comes up with 85,000 different sites, but if you type in "Rufgu" it comes up with 56... does that then make Rufgu a word? If your answer is in fact yes, then I secede from this argument.

You must admit, Rufgu has a nice ring to it.... I might start using it. Now all we need is a definition for it.

RE: Mep Attack

There is nobody here by that name.

Syrgot, Since it is kind of like a quote, then yes as long as the bad grammar is in the expression. You couldn't write "Ewe can lede a horse to waater" and be correct. I just mentioned google as reference to the term spellchecking being part of today's culture.

Your new word is cool and deserves a better meaning than dog-flavored spaghetti sauce.

RE: Mep Attack

ok, not a dog sauce then

rufgu could feasibly mean small amount of red

ruf = latin for reddish

gu = chinese for small amount

RE: Mep Attack

A petite red head? Perhaps? Maybe we're getting closer.

And yes, you are correct about the quote. Quoting a typo in a research paper is a b*tch in a box. If you quote it correctly, they'll mark you off for a typo. If you fix it, and they check your refrences, you'll get points off for slander. It's a dirty, dirty game.

And Syrogot, I'm sorry TK hates you. I like your name though, it is very similar to mine... can we be friends?

RE: Mep Attack

Hate is a very strong word and should only be used in the case of hating the devil...or at least that is what my mother always told me...she also washed my mouth out with LAVA soap the ONE time in my life that I said that I hated my sister. I don't ever say that I hate someone, especially if my mom might somehow find out! LOL!

Have you ever had your mouth washed out with LAVA soap? That stuff is nasty! You could even tame Howard Stern's mouth with a couple bars of LAVA soap!

RE: Mep Attack

I've never had my mouth washed out with soap? What exactly is it like? I'd imagine you'd start gagging or throw up... either of those happen?

RE: Mep Attack

Snrub - ;)

Syrgot - I just remember my mom soaping up a washcloth with the LAVA soap and then making me open up my mouth and she wiped the washcloth over my tongue a few times and then I got to rinse my mouth out. It sucked and I don't think that it ever happened again. My sister got her mouth washed out with soap once, because my brother did something and neither of them would fess up to doing it and so my mom made them sit on the front steps until one of them confessed to doing whatever it was. My sister was innocent, but she got tired of sitting on the step so she told my mom that she did it, so my mom washed her mouth out with soap for lying. I hope that my brother felt like crap!

RE: Mep Attack

My mom didn't go with the soap method so much (I was a tard and tried it on my own, duhh), she stuck to tabasco or hot mustard. I remember my oldest brother cussing up a storm and she grabbed him pronto. That hot sauce went up his nose and all in and around his mouth. If he just hadn't fought her so much he'd just have had a hot mouth! The funniest part, we've all grown up to be major major fans of super hot food, like thai hot.

Schiracha sauce! Yea, baby!

Jasmine rice is the best, and we are on a Pad Thai kick and the Satay chicken!
