The ones that did not leave were people that were too sick or disabled to be moved and the ones too poor to go any where else. A majority of the poor are black. It has nothing to do with God's preference. You should be ashamed of yourself for saying such a thing and you should hang your head low whereever you go. |

It would drive me freakin' nuts to just feel stranded and do nothing. Those people are kind of like playing Survivor without the million dollar prize dangling in front of them. Do you think they could be doing more to get themselves out of there? Lots of people have gotten out and are now just stuck on the side of the freeway in the same situation as the people at the expo center. 2. It isn't safe to swim in the water. There are poisonous snakes and aligators. Several people have died of electrocution from hot wires. You lose body heat 20 times faster in water so the chance of hypothermia even in 90 degree weather is extremely high. 3. They aren't being allowed to leave. A lot of the exits are blocked off by guard. 4. In that situation, the best place to be is at the expo center. It will be the obvious staging point. If they aren't getting supplies there you know they won't be getting it any where else. 5. health/physical reasons. Some people are incapable of traveling even small distances and some people are too fat for the helicoptor lifts. |

Granted the water is squalid, but seeing as how the convention centers are just strewn with bodies and blood and the soon-to-die, its not much worse. Plus its harder for someone to beat the hell out of you when you are waist deep in water (harder for them to sneak up on you or chase. |
