Posted By: Eve Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 462 | RE: Clinton Actually we dont live in a Democracy, we live in a representative republic; we send representatives from our districts to Washington to represent our interests. We also send Senators to Washington to represent our states interests. The president is a representative of the US, as a whole, to other nations to handle foreign relations and to also head up our military, among other duties. That is why we dont directly vote for our president, we have our representation in the congress to represent our interests. If we didnt have the congress, we the people would have to vote on every little piece of legislation, (that would be called a democracy) who the hell wants to do that? Not me, I have a life to live. Besides we cant get people out to vote for there representatives let alone some stupid piece of legislation. Lets send someone to Washington to represent our interests and vote for us, so we can live our lives, makes sense to me! |
Posted By: STFU Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 460 | RE: Clinton Except in reality they represent corporations and special interest groups that fund their campaigns. The only time the average joe has any representation is when a large enough group of people become ****ed and they get scared for their jobs. |
Posted By: Bakakage Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 455 | RE: Clinton Great...and STFU had to actually make a valid point for once. Yes, politics are screwed up because its VERY rare a representative votes for what they believe in, its either what the people who line thier pockets (figuratively, its often in the form of gifts) feel or its based simply off whether it supposedly is a democrat or republican vote. Then if they arent being paid they will just vote however thier party tells them to. And any way you look at it, most of the representatives havent been an average joe in years, they have been living in politics or high end white collar jobs and have no understanding how the general population which is barely holding above the poverty line lives. |
Posted By: STFU Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 452 | RE: Clinton My points have always been valid. It is just that this time your limited knowledge includes this particular statement. |
Posted By: Bakakage Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 447 | RE: Clinton No, your knowledge is just as limited as mine. You just have your head shoved so far up your own ass that you think you are always right. You are wrong just as much as you are right too. |
Posted By: STFU Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 446 | RE: Clinton Is that how you justify posting the same wrong info over and over? All I have been doing is correcting your misinformation. |
Posted By: Kodos Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 442 | RE: Clinton Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos! |
Posted By: Eve Posted On: Sep 8, 2005 Views: 438 | RE: Clinton Well what I described above is how it is supposed to happen, STFU is right, the only time the politicians even come remotely close to representing us is when they are up for reelection. Hell there are senetors now who represent a state they never really lived in at all. how the hell does SHE know what the intrests of the people in HER district are? We should all vote for people who have our interests at heart and not vote for a political party. |
