RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

What? You don't know who Chichiri is? You know about Fushigi Yuugi, right? Chichiri is one of the seven celestial warriors. He usually wears a mask on his face. ^o^

Don't know anything about Fushigi Yuugi, except that it exists. It's never been shown over here. All the anime we've ever had is Pokémon, Digimon, Cardcaptors, Flint the Time Detective, 13 episodes of Sailor Moon, Strange Dawn and Monster Rancher (which I loathe). And at the moment, absolutely none of it is on. Life is tough. ;_;

Awww...I'm sorry. Isn't there an anime store or something where you live? There isn't one in our town, but there's one in Anchorage, which is only a few hours away from here. If all else fails, you can always order off the Internet, although I personally don't like to. ^_^;

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

I haven't actually seen any anime stores. Well, I've seen the odd bit of anime in obscure corners of video shops or whatever, but it's all been way too expensive. I'm sure I'd find a few if I went into London (which is only a couple of hours away) but my parents wouldn't take me just to do that. I've gotten most of my anime off the net and so has my only other anime loving friend. I live in a village in the middle of nowhere, it's my only hope!

Yeah, I wait until my family has another reason to go to Anchorage. By then I've usually saved up well over $100, so I can buy a pretty good hoard of anime. I still remember the first time I went to Bosco's...I don't remember when it was, though.

The trouble is, my family never have a reason to go to London, they're always too busy. ;_; Hmm... I'm going to the theatre in London in the next school holiday (to see Pokémon Live, no less XD), there might be some sort of shop near by, but I doubt that very much. Silly England.
I can remember the first video store we went into when we were on holiday in Massachusets this year. I went to the anime section and my mouth hit the floor. I just pointed in disbelief and said very quietly 'anime'. I'd never seen so much anime in my life. God knows what I'd be like if I went to Japan...

I'm going to go to Japan someday! I'll be an interpreter and interpret for people.

I'll go to anime stores and buy anime and stuff. And maybe get one of those crazy t-shirts you see at engrish.com.

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

My friend wants to be an anime artist and she says that when she's rich and famous, I can go live with her in Japan. Fingers crossed! ^__^ Our ambition in life is to shout 'KYOTO?!' in Kyoto (It's a Gravitation thing, ignore me) whilst eating pocky. We tell each other about 6 times a day we need to get lives. >.<
Being an interpreter would be so cool! I'm thinking of becoming a translator myself. Not Japanese though, French or German. Damn, they don't have good cartoons. :(

Or maybe I'd like to be a voice actress. I'd show them how dubbing is really done! Although I bet it's harder than I think it is. I think translating would be nice. Or maybe I could go over to Japan and teach students how to speak American English. XD

There really are openings for that...

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

My friend said I should be a voice actress because my voice, well, it gets used a lot, shall we say? And she said I was good at doing high voices, you know, really annoying giggly ones. That's how I talk when I'm hyper, which happens very often. >.< Personally, I think I'd suck at being a voice actress. I'd love to show the dubbers how it's done though.
We had someone come to do a talk at our school about her career and she said she had worked in a Japanese school teaching English for a while. She said she really enjoyed it and that lots of English teachers are wanted over there. So I reckon you should consider that. Think of all the anime... ^___^

Our teacher said they were interested in learning "American slang." I'm like, thinking, Oh God, no! Not another America! AIEEEEEEE! I'm just joking, but I like Japan the way it is, and I think Engrish is adorable. ^_^

Alaska...We're just too cool to be American! My Spanish teacher said that Americans are probably the worst-stereotyped people of any other country. She said other countries' stereotypes of us are really ugly.

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

That's the trouble with learning English, whose do you learn? You've got a load of words we don't have over here and vice versa. I have an American English to British English dictionary and it came in useful when I was in the States! I'm so glad English is my first language, I would hate to have to learn it later in life. I think foreign attempts at English are cute too. We went on a school trip to Belgium and this guy in a chocolate shop was using all his best English skills and he gave us discounts for the chocolate! It was sweet! (No pun intended! XD)
All stereotypes are a bad thing, even if they do seem good. Take me for example. I go to a grammar school, everyone expects me to look down on everyone and to act like a snob. In reality, I'm really common and very slightly mad. It's nice to be the exception to the rule! ^_^

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

Some British words are a lot simpler than English ones. For instance, over here, a "lift" is an "elevator." That's four syllables, as compared to one. ^^; I dunno...What other words do you use in England that we don't use in America?

Oh yeah, and I have NEVER heard anyone say "snog" over here. XP

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

Ummm... tap instead of faucet (sp.?), trousers instead of pants (OK, ours is longer, but that does make for amusing misunderstandings), wardrobe instead of closet, sweets instead of candy, a car has a boot instead of a trunk and a bonnet instead of a hood, roundabouts are rotaries (well, the one I saw in the States was), autumn and fall, chips are what we get in McDonalds with our burgers and we don't have soda, we just have fizzy drinks.
OK, that'll do. You might use some of our terms now, but differences are cool! ^__^

RE: Tracey rules! ^_^

Well, we refer to water that comes out of the faucet as "tap water," but we never say "tap" by itself. We also use trousers, but that's reserved for more fancy pants. Boot and bonnet we NEVER use...And chips to us are like, you know, Pringles.
