RE: n/a: already dead

Well, you were coming off as losing your temper. The English language is deceptive, and you should pay attention to the connotation of words you use. And I've been to GameFaqs, and I've found mostly new gamers. Besides that, you claimed that the reason this site had the ratings that it did for FF6 was b/c of older gamers. If GF has more older gamers, that doesn't add up. Places like that have newer gamers b/c most of the stuff on the site is about more recent games (particularly ones that have just come out).

Yes, I mentioned CSs first, but I was just explaining why my friend didn't like the game. She said she felt like it gave her too much information and didn't let her figure anything out for herself, which I wouldn't personally think the older games did, but I can't judge the newer ones, b/c I've barely played them. I personally don't care either way about CSs, but you seemed to list it as a top priority in an RPG after that point, which I don't see why it would be. Maybe I was wrong, b/c as I've said, the English language is deceptive. (I'm a writer... can't you tell? :))

I'm just going by my own research about the most popular game thing, and it has pretty much all shown that more people who have played FF6 liked it better than other games. Yes, 7 made the series popular, but it WAS b/c of the advertising, not b/c so many people who weren't interested before were suddenly interested. They'd just never heard of it previously. The majority of people I know, whether new gamers or not, overall liked 7 (though most of them didn't care for the ending, but I'd prefer to find out why for myself), but after playing 6 said they liked the game better, mainly for the story.

I didn't hear anything of anyone over rating 6 but rather saying they didn't like 7. There is a difference. I didn't much like Link's Awakening, but that doesn't mean I thought A Link to the Past was the Zelda game to end all RPGs. I also really didn't like Majora's Mask, but I don't think Ocarina of Time was perfect by any means.

I really hope 7 is as good as you say it is... I asked for it for Christmas as something I really, really wanted, b/c it does look interesting to me.

RE: n/a: already dead

Hm. After re-reading my posts, it does look like I'm losing my temper. I apologize for that. To clear things up about CG, no they don't make the game and if they do detract I'd rather they not have them. You seem to analyze every tid-bit of information I post. I like that. I too hope to be a writer, though I guess I need a lot of work.:) I did say that about this being an RPG classics site and I did say GF had older gamers, which in itself sounds like I canceled myself out. I made the reference to this site being for RPG classics because that is what it's based on, and that's what people intend on finding when they come here. GF, however, like you said is a large community of games and gamers, old and new. As I stated before, I like 6 as well. I loved FF7's story and I thougt it was better. But it's all a matter of opinion. Anyway, I hope my rants won't ruin your experience in the later FFs. 7 is great, I hope you like it.:)

RE: n/a: already dead

Well, it's understandable. I justI'm just a highschool student with far too much time on her hands and a holder of a great deal of otherwise useless information :). I've been researching writing for years, so I know alot about the uses of words. I even have a section of my website I just opened for writing advice articles. I'm sort of a nerd. As far as being a writer goes, writing is a natural talent that is practiced and worked until it becomes a mastered craft. You have to be born with it, but if you have the devotion to keep writing, you probably were. I don't know that I'll ever be Tolkien Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, or anyone like that, but I'm willing to give it a shot, and I think you should give it one, too. You seem like an interesting person anyway. :)

I doubt there's much of anyone out there who could ruin the experience of an RPG for me. I'm a fairly calm person (which tends to irritate alot of people, but I'd rather not lose my temper). Again, I haven't played 7, but I'm going to. It sounds interesting, and I hope it's atleast as good as every other Final Fantasy game I've played.

It was an interesting debate, and in the end, we did, to an extent, agree, it seems. Besides, it's always interesting to converse with a fellow AW (Aspiring Writer). Maybe we'll talk again sometime, and I wish you luck in your pursuits in the literary field. :)

RE: n/a: already dead

Wow things calmed up.BTW I would say FF VII could be more popular because Playstation has been advertised like a necessary lifestyle medium (but to be sincere I'd have to add that Sega gave up quickly on Saturn and Nintendo didn't strive to get more adult games for N64.But of course the wide use of copied games established psx).Anyway now my sentence is cut in half and two aspiring writers will be reading this!God!! Psx was the console of a new generation of gamers and FF VII was the first RPG that most of those players ever played. It's graphics were another big plus too (back then they were really something else). Also nowadays some gamers off the older waves have given up on gaming and thus more people have now played FF VII than VI.Keep in mind that someone who had just played FF IX for example would probably buy VIII and VII but not VI because of the vast difference in graphics.

Thus ends my rambling.Glad to meet someone who had a N64 and other people who have played older RPGs.Let me say that having played both VI and VII to the end I prefer the sixth. But nevermind...
