Problems with CEP?

I've tried out the new CEP hak in a sample module, and I haven't had any problems with it. The readme with the hak tells you which version of the CEP to use with your particular NWN game version (or you can look on the Vault for the CEP Builder's notes for clarification), and the CEP's talk file doesn't override the original talk file; you have to add it as a custom talk file to your module.

Maybe there would be fewer problems with the CEP if people would take the time to first *read* the instructions, hmm, prithee?

Not for me

I heard it has lightsaber type weapons, I found these don't work on everyones computer when I use to run them. Same with a few other things in the hak.

So I am not going to use it in any of my projects. Far to many things that can go wrong and it would take far to long to debug.

Hell of a pak,,,

I loaded it up and began the process of incorporating it into my module. I thought it was easy to set up and import, and everything is categorized well. It's easy to find exactly what you're looking for.

my only beef is the new weapon types, and the way they rearranged some of them. A tetsubo is as tall as you are, but they have it as a club, when the original version was (a lot more appropriately) the 2 handed heavy flail. Besides some of the dumb weapon choices (why not just reskin other weapons that way you can actually have focus and specialization in them?) the whole set is awesome, and adds a whole new element to my module.

it freezes up my nwn whenever i load the sample module.

it even overwrote my tlk file so now my toolset is REALLY screwed.

installing it is a gamble.
i just have bad luck :(

Hmmmm

For me personaly CEP is nothing more than yet another Combo Hak. I am sure for Pure Modules this will be a great thing, but for PW Builders this is hell, especialy worlds that have been around a long time.

The good thing about the Hak system, is that you have so much freedom and choice between various different Haks, and in makeing your own so that you may choose exactly what you want to go into your Module, and already with a large number of PW's they only use a fraction of the content they add.

Not to mention that trying to add new haks along with CEP is going to be a chore in and of itself worthy of marterdom.

Perhaps when CEP has been around a while, its be tried and tested true and alot of the kinks have been worked out, Ill change my opinion, but for right now it seems like a bulky expirement that is more like a cement block thrown into the middle of the modding comunity and an answer to a question people were not asking.

That being said, congratulations on a sucessful release, anything that people place time, hard work and effort into is always worthy of praise and alot of work and time has gone into CEP, so its good to see all that work come to fruition.

I think CEP did a good job.

When I first heard of CEP... I thought... crap! More stupid Haks that everyone will rush to get and I don't use haks so I won't be able to play very much.

Well, It is good, especially since I advoided getting any other haks before. It has alot of things that look cool... I especially like the cool weapons and armors...

Though I do have a gripe about the mods packed in the EXE d-oad... CEP should have opted to post them on seperate d-loads to save time and space... they weren't that impressive.

disappointed

I tried adding it today, and all it did was severly screw everything up. It didn't include erfs or tlk files or any documentation as to the order to install the haks or how to properly implement them. severly disappointing

CEP

For me, since I never made any changes to my 2da's or used a hak on my mods before, it's no problem. I get lots of new models, placeables and extra. I think it's great.

CEP

We've been rather unimpressed with the content. It's mostly stuff we'd passed over for our own hak; amateurish, badly optimized models and placeables. (And in some cases placeables which will cause clients to crash).

But, to ignore it would be foolish. It has a few things which we'd like to use.

The problem is, is it worth fixing our own hak to be compatible with the CEP?

Something we're trying to decide right now.

Kudos to the CEP team. It was an ambitious project. Unfortunately, it rather resembles a "Pic-N-Save" upended on one's hard drive.

CEP? or no CEP

Definately CEP!!! What a great way to have all of this great content available UNIVERSALLY! Sure, we will still need to use haks, but those won't have to be nearly as large, since there's so much in here!

I, for one, shall always upgrade with the newest versions of CEP. It just makes sense to keep such a great game at the best it can be, and with this package, it's like I just bought a new version!

Thanks!
