RE: PK experiments

Christian schools do a very good job at brainwashing the youth throughout their education. The main problem may very well be however that these children aren't taught the importance of questioning every thing around them. And to not just accept truth because a teacher says it.

RE: PK experiments

Sadly Matt I have to agree with you, it´s not just the Christian brainwashing that gets me - as if that were not bad enough - it´s the WAY they are taught at school today, as you said.
When I was at school a typical science question would ask what would happen if we do such and such, and explain why you think that would happen, what are the reasons for it, and what evidence is there to support it? Today it´s a tick box answer from 4 possible answers, most of which are obviously wrong. How on earth are we to expect them to learn from that? However, using this method, national exam result statistics show an amazing year on year increase in passes, I wonder why? Could it possibly be because that even by shutting your eyes and sticking a pin in a box at random you will achieve on average a minimum 25% correct answers? Even a monkey will get on average at least a 25% pass using this daft method!!!!!!!!
In my day you either knew the answer and could give it in full, or you didn´t know and and got no marks.
I was taught to question everything, be very selective with my sources of information and apply logic and common sense to what you find.
The vast majority of kids that post comments on my site are, to be honest and accurate, pretty stupid.
Thankfully, that does not apply to all of them.

RE: PK experiments

nogard - "No, im not mad and im not nervous, i'm totally calm. believe me, if its hard to believe, then you ARE all idiots. Do not reply to this cause won't be seeing this anymor. I'm off this site.

ps: if you all don't believe in TK, why does this site exists al all? this stupid. Good luck growing your brains, if you have some brain to start with."

This is actuelly very sad that he still can't see the many errors in his arguments and horrible reasoning and still feel that he makes sense, and can call you idiots.

Hopefully people who think like this stay on the interenet. Not like they'd be accepted in the real world anyways.

RE: PK experiments

I sometimes wonder what people like nogard must be like in the real world.
Lonely, I would imagine, not to mention confused.
Sad really.

RE: PK experiments

Nogard,
The only thing worse than your thought process is your grammar. Where did you learn to write?

Anyhow, let us correct a few things shall we.
I will start with bats. Yes, bats have eyes. Yes, bats can see in day light or in darkness however they do not see very well. Yes bats emit a soundwave, and yes it is audible, just not to our ears. And yes, several species of bats fly during daylight hours.

Ok I am done with the bats.
Now to TK being like sound waves. As someone who works in the more delicate field of frequency analasys, there is a Spectrum Analyzer for every frequency we can think of and then some. My point is that we can measure power and frequency for everything from light, to sound, to micowaves, to pressure, hell even friction. But I have never heard of any frequencys of any kind come off the the human body besides heat and electricity. You are more likely to shoot fire from your eyes or lightning from your ass (man I love Braveheart) than you are to move an object with your mind using pure kinetic energy.

If you guys really want to research this, try starting with a physics and the a psychology degree. Throw in an engineering degree and you can make an Iron Man suit.

Peace,
Will

RE: PK experiments

Will, you forget to mention that TK believers do not need to study for those degrees, they can buy them on the Internet, that way they will not have to waste their time trying to learn something.

RE: RE: PK experiments

Gee, how entertaining it's been reading this whole thread! A mixture of interesting, refreshing, sensible, worrying, ludicrous and laughable.

I think that the problem with those who are overzealous to believe and decree as fact unprovable, unsubstantiated, "truths" is that the eagerness and/or need to believe just completely shuts down the ability to think in an honest way. If you are honest you will HAVE to accept that there is no more proof of what you choose to believe in, other than your own volition to... but I'd say that this dishonesty is an unconscious act, where people don't know they are doing it.

For the record, I have a deist view of existence. Was raised as a catholic, then explored other faiths, etc. Still, I try to keep honesty about what it is that I believe in and others try to tell me. I am a scientist, too, by the way (Physics).

When it comes to the supernatural realm of thoughts and ideas/ideologies, I have found that the scientific method of exploration (if you want), the Socratic method of deduction and just general honesty about what can be argued and what can't, goes out the window. I confess being part of that in my youth years. I have met people just like nogard and it can be so incredibly frustrating and irritating once you realise that there is like a mental displacement from rationality when it comes to these people dealing with these things. It is incredible how people jump to conclusions just because they want to believe and make correlations here and there that can be even so absurd! I always find as a startling fact that people will tend to believe whatever they see written somewhere, without much questioning or personal research. Just because some books say this or that is enough for people to take as solid truths. Incredible, really, but happens all the time. Someone publishes a book on whatever topic you can pull all the way from the nutty fringe of Esotheria and presto!... instant truths!!

Particularly as a scientist, you are a trained skeptic (or should be), no matter what you choose to believe in when it comes to faith, creed and other ideas or ideologies of other-than-scientific nature. It is your duty to enforce an honest rational approach in everything you look at and discuss.

Cheers,

C

RE: PK experiments

Keith.. if you are not interested in TK why bother reading about it. What do you get from coming and telling everyone they are wrong, people are entitled to their own beliefs to let them and stop trying to force your own beliefs on other people.
