Sorry just not interested

I'm personally not interested in the mods..I think it goes aggenst what the game stood for in the beginning.

I remember when NWN was first released..the thing was that you could create your own mods, your own haks, your own scripts and share with others with out paying more then what you had to.

All and all we have our own opinions..this is mine, I unfortuantly can't support something like this..or spend more then what I haveto on this game..

I'll stick with what I have now ;)

Good job Bioware

I pay more money to go to the cinema and these mods provide so much more entertaiment.

Sure we have lots of top quality modules for free. Alot of the free modules are better then these. But hell, I already played all of them.

Premium modules were worth the money for me and as I said I spend more money on less entartaining things every week. I can afford $9 for 5-8 hours of quality gaming.

Bioware did the right thing!

My Reason

I won't buy because I don't play single player for one.

Also, I would prefer that Bioware would do bug squashing and making of new content for use then wasting time making mods that are unchangable, or uneditable to get use of the scripts and ideas.

I would gladly pay for more expansions that add more tilesets, models and bug squashing.. and Im sure many more people agree with me.

Anyways, thats my 2 cents.

Just like PnP!

For those of you who oppose the idea of paying for professional, pre-written adventures, I ask you to look at the Pen and Paper game that NWN is based upon, Dungeons and Dragons.

Gamers across the globe gleefully design their own adventures for PnP D&D every day, but no one has a problem with the game company (TSR => WotC) providing professional, pre-written adventers for those who want them.

If you don't want to play them, don't buy them. I fail to see how introducing new ideas (which could also lead to more content releases) and more exciting modules can possibly hurt the community. Granted, I am disappointed in our [reported] inability to crack open the adventures and see "how they did that," but consider the price, too. These mods are *considerably* cheaper (the entire game is, cheaper, for that matter) than the PnP game.

Yes, I'm a little disappointed about not being able to learn from the premium mods, but from an entertainment standpoint, I'm DELIGHTED. I spend far more on a typical 90 minute movie at the cinema.

Again, I hope the naysayers will put this into the perspective of a role-playing game. Walk into any RPG shop (or most bookstores) and take a look at the gaming shelves. The vast majority of the material is published adventures and supplements, created and *sold* by the game manufacturer. I *love* the community mods and plan to continue to d/l and play them, but I am very excited at the idea that Bio found a viable way to provide continued support for NWN years after its release.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but I've been playing D&D for... well, for a long time... and NWN is a dream-come-true. Many of my gaming buddies have moved across the country and, thanks to the magic of MP, I can actually play D&D with them again (without the Cheetos(tm) powder and the fuss of driving to anyone's house). I'm happy about anything that increases the longevity of this game. And besides, Premium Mods only make it *more* like PnP.

Kingmaker

As far as I'm concerned if you don't pick up Kingmaker you're only hurting yourself, sure it was short but I like short, I can actually finish a short module, and this packed more fun into the five or so hours I put into it than just about anything else I've played through, if Shadowguard is half as good, I'll be picking it up too.

This module was just plain fun.

Bravo!

I can't wait to start purchasing these things. They sound great (I already knew they would be) and I'd like to give a little back to BioWare after helping this huge community along through all of the gripes and complaints(along with the compliments) over these past years. I really hope that this new store does well, in hopes that some of their other ideas begin to develop. In the meantime, I'm absolutely certain that I will be totally satisfied playing these professionally made modules.

As for all of the free module-makers out there, I hope that none of you feel negative about this. Many of your modules that I have played are awesome. BoiWare has done a great deal of free modifications to this incredible toolset so that we can do what we do even better. I truly agree that they should be able to make a little from those of us who want to give them more cash. I spend a lot more time working on my free projects for nwn than I do playing. I'm not worried that I will never make a dime from this community service. But having nwn since it was first released, I have noticed a very concerned, caring and supportive BioWare from the very beginning, and this proves to me that they just don't want to quit any time soon :)

Thanks BioWare!

If they want my support...

Like about 20% of these people posting, I would buy the mods and not even play them just to support the live team in the hopes that they will release the code they used or add more features to the engine so we can do our own thing with it, but I doubt they would make or release anything that can be used in anything other than a one shot single player module.

If you want me to support the live team, let me pay you $1000 for a more open sourced version of the game and/or allow me to charge monthly on a Persistent World Server.

Yay yay happy fun yay.

Looking forward to getting it soon - isn't it nice to leech off your parents when it comes to stuff like that?

Hooray for NWN premium modules! .. must ... have... them... alll... allllll.... ALLLLlllll....

- Wynd.

PS: Yesh. Indeed. Let us all rant and ramble about the ultimate greatness of NWN and good NWN modules.

Great Modules

I started playing KingMaker last night and the camera angles, story, mood - all of it was fantastic. The module really makes use of Neverwinters abilities to draw you into the story. I think Rob Bartel had a good point when he said the makers of premium modules have access to story designers, QA lab, etc. Maybe even more importantly you're supporting the Community.

If all Premium modules hold to the standard of KingMaker I look forward to buying them all!

Premium Modules

They've got a better chance of squeezing lemon-aide from a stone than money from me for their modules.

As someone who purchased both

I purchased both and felt Kingmaker to be well worth the money. It clearly has enough material to play twice, a innovative plot, and interesting henchmen. The ends seems a tad rushed, but otherwise clearly a 9-10 module. Shadowguard is a very good module, but I am not sure whether I will purchase the next chapter. It reminded me of some other mods and lacked personality in places where Kingmaker came through. I purchased Kingmaker lite, but I can say that the voice-over introduction amd music had little impact on my appreciation of the module.

Bioware Modules

I am not totally sold on having modules for sale. I think its a great idea for Bioware to release these but why pay money for entertaining modules when you have modules like Adam Miller's that are entertaining (for many hours) and free. There is alot of custom content in his modules and his modules are fresh and they are free. I would rather pay Adam 5 bucks for his modules that include custom content than pay Bioware for a rehash of the same old stuff. I dont really care about the cool voice acting. I would rather pay for some really cool new worlds that haven't been seen before.

Huh

Neverwinter Nights wasn't worth the 50 I spent on it, and I'm sure not going to spend a tenth of that to get a mod that MIGHT be above average.

No internet access

...I havn't d/l'd any because, as I udnerstand. You NEED internet access. While my laptop could be used to d/l the module, I wouldn't be able to use it on my desktop machine capable of running NWN because I have no phoneline/internet connection with which to activate it.

Kind of ironic really, spend years doing CC stuff for NWN, and Bioware's thanks comes in the form of being the only guy unable to use their latest content.

About bug squashing....

A comment made a few hours ago....

"just because bioware is selling these modules means that if I want them to support my game of choice over the last years then I should show my support of them by buying these modules? I dont think so. At this point I would be willing to pay for some bug squashing in NWN. It would be nice if all feats and spells and effects worked properly. Hell windows users pay microsoft for less valued updates than that...."

I had to say my piece on this....

When you buy these modules, this is EXACTLY what you are getting accomplished... bug squashing, albeit indirectly. Where do you think all the direct download revenue is being directed? The Live Team!

You say that you would specifically pay BioWare to get those bugs eradicated. And not only are they giving you that option, but you are also getting something very tangible for your money right upfront..... three professionally produced modules.

I really don't comprehend why people like you don't get this.
