Deaths

I don't remember Ramza actually dying. If you'll recall, he shows up afterwards.

Tellah's death was pretty lame, I always thought. Same for Galuf's.

Aeris's death was too badly spoiled for me, so it didn't really affect me much, emotionally.

Tidus's death was also spoiled for me, but it affected me in that it ****ed me off that they would actually get rid of the main character. Auron I just didn't care about, he was fun to use in battle, but I didn't really care for him too much as a character. They tried to hard to make him a "badass."

Palom and Porom were the best. Sure, they didn't really die, but at the time, their sacrifice seemed pretty permanent. I just thought it was a touching moment.

Obviously...

Well ONE of them has to lead...
Aeries is "traumatic" in many sense. She was probably one of the first character to get the level 4 limit break, and an extremely powerful one at that (Party Invulnerability + Full HP/SP...). Then, *poof*, all gone... I don't remember her death being hinted at all. Tellah was obvious. Palom and Porom already warned him at Mount Ordeal when he's going for Meteo... and he sucks anyways... :P

2 choices that shouldn't be

Palom and Porom didn't die. They were turned to stone and returned to normal later.

Ramza didn't die either.

Doesn't anyone watch the endings anymore???

Palom & Porom never died

Why do you all think Palom & Porom died?
They come back later in the game, you just can't use them anymore.

my fav. deaths (not in a negative way)

I agree with Leo in ffVI, it was good because although it lacked fancy effects, it was so deep and he seemed such a brilliant man. I also agree with Cyan's family, especially when it follows it up on the ghost train, but again they are not protagonists. I think cid in ffVI was good too, how it nearly drove Celes (i think thats her name) to kill herself - real deep stuff.

What made me cry

I was very young when I first played Final Fantasy 4, and though I agree that Leo's death was perhaps the most moving of all of them, when Tellah perished trying to defeat Golbez for his daughter, even though there was so much left unsaid in the little text bubbles I cried my eyes out...But that's just me.

more gruesome deaths

I think queen brahne's death in FFIX was also cool. C'mon she got killed by bahamut! How many people can say that?! And what about cyan's family in FF6? That was sadder than Aeris. But they're not main characters so I guess they don't count.

Please feel free to debate my posts.I like it when people talk to me!

p.s. Don't write T&A in the topic column, my cousin thought it was something else!

Did Ramza die?

I'm pretty sure FF Tactics had a linear plot--there's only one ending, right?

There was a last scene at the end of the game that showed Ramza riding chocobos with his sister. I think that's enough to conclude that he survived the final battle. After all, Ramza couldn't have possibly come back as an undead just to ride chocobos, could he?

Oh, and I just love riding chocobos in the midst of battle--it's the only Final Fantasy game which allows you to fight on 'chocoboback'. CAVALRY!!!

T&A

I vote for Tidus Auron because belive it or not lol but i didn't like 7 that much and just to let you know Blank in 9 didn't die he got trapped in a forest covered by stone and u get him back later in the game but also i like Gaulf's ending as well from number 5

T&A

Aeris's death is classy, but the fact that the Disc doesn't just end there weakens it. The boss battle lessens its impact. Unlike VII and IX, which have great disc endings (particularly IX, where you want to know what happens next for all three. Tidus' death is so moving...that bit when Yuna runs through her is so sad.

Galuf? Blank's death in IX is sadder!

oh wait, i forgot LAVITZ!

this is a follow up of what I just said, the only character death that caught me off guard more than aeris was in legend of dragoon when lavitz died. i was not expecting it at all. if lavitz was a choice he would get my vote but he wasnt, so AERIS!
HE WHO HESITATES IS LOST

umm let me think.... AERIS.

what a dumb question, everyone knows aeris will win this poll. let me rate some of the others first. FF4- palom and porom. they turned to stone right after cid joined, i knew that you cant have 6 in the party at once so when they turned to stone i was like ok cool now i have cid. and when tellah died? it was cool with the meteo and all, but i was not all too sad cuz his HP sucks and then you get rosa & kain back. and then there's ff5- Galuf. oh my flippin gosh dont even get me started on galuf, he is the biggest loser is RPG hero history. I HATED HIM SO MUCH! when he dies and cara joined, i wasnt crying, HECK I WAS CELEBRATING! i was all YES! SHE IS SO MUCH COOLER THAN THAT DORK!, that brings me to aeris. i remember in the 6th grade (1997 for me) my classmate told me about ff7's characters, this was before i even owned it, and he spoiled aeris's death to me. i was all ok that sucks that she dies, then in the 8th grade (2000 for me) i got the game and played it. i already knew aeris was going to die, but when it happened it still affected me. it became twice as effective with the depressing song in the background, to this day i still can't hear that aeris song without crying. yes i know guys arent supposed to cry and heck i played football in high school and yet i still get sad if i see that segment of the game or hear the song, it was that effective. good job ff7!

Tidus...(sigh)

Eveb though I cried when Aeris died (she was at level fifty for crying out loud!), I never saw Tidus' death coming. I thought he would live. As for galuf, I never really liked his attitude, so I was glad he died.

long live sephiroth, though. I never really liked aeris either.
