THE LIST WAS TOPPED BY THE BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY

Rogues' gallery featuring all political parties
By Murali Krishnan, Indo-Asian News Service

New Delhi, March 16 (IANS) When it comes to criminals in Indian politics, there is nothing to differentiate one political party from another. The recent state elections in Haryana, Jharkhand and Bihar have proved that.
Despite the Election Commission's best efforts to weed out candidates with criminal antecedents, there is no wishing them away. According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), of the 1,528 who contested the polls in Bihar, 454 candidates (30 percent) had criminal cases pending against them.
THE LIST WAS TOPPED BY THE BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY (BJP), NEARLY HALF OF WHOSE CONTESTANTS HAD CRIMINAL CASES SLAPPED AGAINST THEM, followed by the Janata Dal-United (41.8 percent) and Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) as well as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
According to ADR, which has been monitoring elections for five years, 18 candidates had heinous cases registered against them. The LJP (six) and RJD (five) topped this list.
Of the 32 candidates who declared total assets of over Rs.10 million ($230,000), nine were from RJD, six from Congress and four from LJP. Interestingly, of the 32 "millionaires", 10 had no permanent account number (PAN), which is mandatory for filing tax returns.
In their personal affidavits to be filed before the returning officer, which has now become mandatory under law, 1,186 of the 1,528 candidates in Bihar did not provide their PAN number.

Mangal Pandey

Nagwa village: the unveiling of the statue of the hero of the great Indian mutiny, Mangal Pandey, who was hanged by the British on April 8, 1857.

Who shud unveil this statue - Sonia or Mulayam or ...?

Would you like to read about him in history books or it is too saffronized?

A Fair excahnge

SHOULD INDIA LOOK AT THE POSSIBILITY OF EXCHANING BIHAR FOR KASHMIR WITH OUR PAKKI BROTHERS.

POSTED BY: RANDIR KAPOOR, 29-08-2003 AT 2210 HOURS IST

Bihar is backward and needs martial law
Democracy does not work in Bihar. Impose martial law and increase the level of education and social awareness. In no other state do we see such horrible governance and thugs. This province is a drag on the rest of of india. There are competent biharis but they are mostly outside the state.

To Jai Bihar--re: Lalu

Even you missed the point on this one-- Lalua had his own relative kidnapped, to get sympathy votes in case there is another election anytime soon.

So you're not that smart as you think you are, eh?

Re: Lalua's Relative Abducted!

Let Laloo get taste of his own medicine, he pampered. He will pay from his Rs. 1,000 crore loot, for the release. He never helped, when engineers and doctors of Patna were abducted by his goons - that was his way to get even with them.

Woman

We don't want to be touched by Dalit but we don't mind molesting Dalit women. Read more (how to burn Dalit huts):

Thanks God, they were not muslims, otherwise secular USA would have revoked visa of Buta Singh.

It does not matter that these things happen in other states too, but we shud force to stop ill treatment of Dalit brothers.

Lalua's Relative Abducted!

This is hysterical!

Back when Lalu was in power, he cultivated the criminal element in Bihar. But he was holding a wolf by the mouth. Now that he is no longer in power, the Muslim/Gwala gangs of Bihar have no reason to bow before him. In fact they are all angry at Lalua because since he was removed from power the police are actually cracking down on said Muslim/Gwala kidnapping gangs!

And now one of Lalu's own relatives has been kidnapped! How wonderful! I wonder how Lalu likes it, now that it's happened to him? LOL!

Laloo's action

Certainly, he increased iliteracy in Bihar, so most Biharis can't read what is going on in Bihar. But he could not stop media from printing and world to stop reading news about Bihar.

Iliteracy has become curse to Bihar.

To Jai Bihar

Sure Laloo has stolen public money, but which CM in India has not? You mean to tell me and all of us that CM of your yet to be named state has not stolen money. That fat lard Jayalalitha is better than Laloo? I beg to differ. So on what basis do you continue to criticise Bihar.

If you want honest discussion, reveal your true identity, if not, stop your blabbering and get off my forum!!

Stop your whining about Bihar

I repeat, let us Biharis take care of our own problems. Unless you are coming to Bihar to contribute to the solution, you are more part of the problem, when you have nothing better to do than criticise Bihar. Especially coming from someone who is not even Bihari, and who is not even revealing true identity. And you expect us to listen to your surmonizing, you have got to be smoking some of your own stuff.

What do illegal Bangladeshis have to do with Bihar

What do illegal Bangladeshis, and I agree that there are millions here illegally, have to do with Bihar? Does India HAVE TO give citizenship status to Taslima Nasreen? You make it sound like its her right to get it, not the indian govts right to make that decision. And it is that right which the govt. used to deny her that status, a right which every govt. in the world has. Its not her right, its the govt. of India's right, and it used that right, and rightfully so. And again, what does this have to do with Bihar??

To Jai Bihar... Bihari Hater and Hypocrite, Coward

Number one, you are obviously not a Bihari, which then begs the question, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ON THIS FORUM CALLED BIHARONLINE. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, THIS IS NOT GUJRAT ONLINE, OR MAHARASTR ONLINE, or some southern state online, so either you must be really lonely, or really depressed, or just plain bored, that you have all this time to come to our forum and do nothing but criticise Bihar.

Number two, no matter which state you come from, whether the four southern states, or Maharastra or Gujrat, you really don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to criticising Bihar. There is still a lot of culture and history still left in Bihar, unlike Mumbai, where everyone is trying to become an American, or an Englishman. You guys have plenty of your own problems, so until you become a utopia, a perfect state with no problems, isnt it a bit ridiculous for you to bash Bihar? I mean think about it, thats like one theif calling another a liar.

Number three, do you really think leaders from your states are that much different that Laloo? Do you think that Jayalalitha is better than Laloo, has she not stolen crores and crores from the people, then spent some of that stolen money on a wedding for her daughter? If I were you, I would concentrate on the problems of your state, and let us deal with ours.

Number four, you must be a coward with an inferiority complex, if you are not willing to reveal your identity. Why don't you come on this forum and reveal your true identity, otherwise you really have no credibility at all.

It is shameful for whole India

Millions of millions of illegal BanglaDeshis live and vote to form pseudo secular Govt. and we are very proud of that. But our secular Govt. will not give at least a 'residential permit' status to an independent thinker and Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen (a Swedish national now).
