I believe you to be highly UNsuccessful. Here is what I wrote GUW in am email about it. It makes sense that he has no girlfriend and the love of his life is beer. Ue uses the excuse that hes too good for them when really he is probly annoying as hell because hes full of himself and cant get one to stick around for more than a week. Its alot like a jamesmaster thing, except james thinks he isnt good enough. They are both the same in a way. They cant be like us where we are just content with ourselves and everyone else. |

I currently do not have a girlfriend, but I often do. Broke up with the last one in March. Since I'm quite independent and used to doing whatever I want, I don't do crappy relationship stuff with my girlfriends. I don't go the antique store, I don't go to chick flicks, etc. I guess I'm a little selfish. Anyway, lately I find myself getting bored with them after about 6 months. Here's how the break up goes: 1) Stop spending as much time with her. Tell her I'm going out with the guys. 2) She complains that we never hang out anymore. 3) Tell her I want to see other people. 4) She tells me she loves me. 5) Run like hell! Adam, life is sometimes unfair. I'm a have. You're a have not, and always will be. Deal with it. |

A friend of mine says it's my fault and I should not hang out with any chick more than twice a week cause they'll get too attached. I don't think there's a "fault" for you (bob) hanging out with a girl too much unless you do stuff to string them along like take them out to dinner frequently etc. I had that happen once and I ended up just being ticked off and dumped. Girls definitely become attached, especially when they're all about having a boyfriend. If anything it sounds like you need to meet a girl who is more your equal in career and social desire. |

You are both equally cool guys...Bob, you are also a lot older than adam and I'm guessing you were a rich kid? Bob - I read a book called "The Rules" and in that book, it actually suggests only dating once or twice a week at the most at the beginning of a relationship. That makes a lot of sense to me because that way you still keep your identity and then if it really does turn into something real, it wasn't forced that way, or you weren't just two needy people molding into one gigantic needy person. My parents have always been a great couple and at the beginning of their relationship, my dad was stationed in St. John, Newfoundland, Canada and they just wrote letters for months, and I think that helped cement their relationship in a positive way. I made the rush into marriage mistake actually twice and now I look back and see how stupid-o that was. It sounds like you are sort of on the right track, and I think your buddy is right. adam - I love you, you are a sweetie. |
