Our freedoms are being whittled away on a daily basis, it should be a personal choice. Idiots cant check their tire pressure, so Uncle Sam mandates an automatic system that we pay extra for.(not optional)

Whether you can prove if seatbelts prevent injuries or not is immaterial. If you break the law you should not expect compensation from it.

It's immaterial who was at fault... if your injuries were made worse by not wearing a seatbelt you should not get paid for any injuries.

#Why should my insurance premium go up just because some ape doesn't know how to pull a piece of fabric over their shoulder?!

This is a tough group here. Ruthless and very strict. I'm in the 10% group while thinking I'd hate to "butcher" my classic car by adding accessories which were unheard of when manufactured.

The answer to this should also be dependent upon who was at fault.

It may be your life, but it's MY premiums that contribute to the benifits YOU recieve for YOUR injuries. And Yes- the addicted idiot who wraped the car around the tree reaching for the fallen cig would have to UNBUCKLE the belt to reach it. DUH!!!

As to proof seatbelts don't prevent injuries...tell me how a woman who sends her car through a bridge guardrail winds up trapped under the dash board and her head pinned under the wheel IF SHE HAD BEEN WEARING HER BELT!!!!!

it is not proven that seatbelt prevents injury. it should be a choice to wear seatbelts.

You don't get to collect if you broke the law during the crash, and this is no exception

How do you prove injuries would have been prevented?

And drivers should not be ticketed for those in the vehicle who refuse to wear their seatbelt...it is their life, their choice!
