Wearing a seat belt is a wise thing to do, but should not be mandatory - except for children.

If the accident was not their fault, they should be allowed to collect. Obviously, if it was their fault they won't collect anything. You would have to hire experts to prove the injuries would not have happen without the use of seatbelts.

I feel you're an idiot for not wearing a seatbelt. However, if you are not responsible for the accident, you should be reimbersed for personal/property damage.

there is no way to determine with certainty that the injuries would not have been sustained if a seatbelt had been worn. love the site :)

Not unless there is a valid medical reason for them not to wear seatbelts

'Charging' insurance companies for compensation is just a round about way of charging all of us for the offenders stupidity.

I agree with the comment about the mop. Just because someone makes a mistake like forgetting to put their seatbelt on once doesn't mean they caused the accident or should have to pay their own medical bills. This could be financially devistating.

Anyone not wearing seatbelts is an idiot but to suggest that insurance companies should not cover personal injury becaused the insured did not take all precautions is wrong. Would you include motorcyclists as riskey and uninsureable?

It is considered against the law in most states not to wear your seatbelt, so why should you be compensated for breaking the law?

My 1st thought was no way...then..This is why we pay ins. premimums. And the ins. co should pay for this mistake to help heal the patient. If i slipped on water in my kitchen because I knowly left a wet mop on the floor...does the ins co not pay??
