RE: tobacco

well it seems that i have hit a nerve here with my little one word post, didn't mean to shake the cage so hard. There have been many points made by many people, some right, some wrong, and some assinine. Lets not forget sight of the fact that this is poll, a poll is a way to look at other peoples opinions and compare them to yours, maybe you agree, or maybe you don't or somewhere in between you may change your point of view. it is not too have the final word or be proven right, not the right forum for that.

In my opinion, and how MY life has been affected, i feel that tobbacco companies are the absolute definition of corrupt. this to ME is obvious because of the changed advertising, warnings on packs, sales locations (vending machines) they have been forced to change the way they do business. they now are forced to help pay the costs that have been passed on to hospitals and governments (state and local) the mention of casinos (and lottos) being sued is interesting since all casinos are forced to pay for rehab and help programs in their locales (based on percentage of profits) and ongoing to help people before they hit bottom. casinos in some states are required to forbid entry for soome people in some cases and can be sued if they knowingly allow that person to enter. anyways - off topic

I lost two grand parents to cancer, one suffered a long and painful death that also put tremendous pressure on my parents, their careers, and finances. (no lawsuit participation by my family or assistance for that matter)

story:

as a child of ten (late 70's) i hung out a the skating rink in TN. i could not skate very well and was generally a small kid, kinda dorky, and not did not really stand out. i found a hook that made me cooler, tougher and noticed - bingo - smoking. easy to get em right there in the vending machine at the skating rink or at any store ( about .60) so for the price of a soda and a candy bar i bought my way into a popular click - girls would bum em or i would offer them, or i would offer to light theirs, any girl smoking could be easily approached to ask for a light (i still use that one ;) i don't know when i started to inhale them, i can't pinpoint the time i was addicted but it was way before my 18th birthday. I am still slave to them, i have tried to quit but have only suceeded in getting down to the lightest brands. the real irony is now i a am no longer the cool, quite the opposite actually. almost none of my friends smoke or even allow it in their homes. many parties i have been standing on the patio freezing and looking in the window watching my freinds talk and laugh while i sit in silence enjoying only the company of my oldest "freinds", far away from the popularity we once enjoyed together.

i have about a thousand camel bucks that i never turned in, they are now useless since the company is now no longer allowed to produce items with their logo - have they introduced a new catalog of items without their logos for all their loyal customers like other trading stamp programs - no - they haven't do they still put the camel bucks in the pack - yep. why? who knows, maybe so people like me will keep saveing them for no reason, it is almost a testament of the habit of smoking itself

but whatever anyone thinks - i still stand behind my statment and i don't forsee anything changing my mind. someone else's poll, my opinion

RE: tobacco

Mark,
Great point... it's all about opinion. Thank you for sharing your story, I wish you the best of luck in your battle with cigarette addiction.
Although I will say this has been one of the most interesting poll discussions I have participated in.

Cheers,

Meko

RE: tobacco

I don't even smoke cigarettes and I feel that addiction is purely mental. How can you do something you don't want to do? I think it is just a cry for sympathy. You want people to feel bad for you because you just can't stop doing something you don't want. I mean, come on. Get over yourself and start doing what you want to. I'm not gonna cry for you and I don't think anybody else will. Well, lesbians cry a lot, especially after a bowl of hot poontang. Maybe you should sing your little pity song to a certified fur trader.

RE: tobacco

you're right. I'm addicted to your mom, but I know it's purely mental. I could give her up anytime if I wanted to....but why bother? She gives great head.

Kudos to your mom!

Chrissakes! I need to put a breastmilk tap into my baby so I can't catch up on this board. I have only two things to say and both are off-topic because I've grown weary of this debate.

LBB-it's even funnier if you say hard/yard with a Boston accent, Ya Dude! Let's go to the packie and get s'more beer for the keggah!

RE: tobacco

In my opinion, the “Most” corrupt is society. Yet the least corrupt is society. I know it’s contradictory but it’s true. This is illustrated by those that are willing to provide fact an opinion to a subject and contradicted by those that lack any truth to their conviction. Too many of us walk through life thinking that we know all and are all. The sad thing is that I am sure some jack ass like Harry Dillsucker will make a meaningless statement and never gain anything from this chat. That’s corruption! It is corrupt that we have allowed people to walk through life without contributing one positive thing to society. Have you read Dave and and Harry’s scripts… they are worthless no thought involved just BULLSHEIT! PUCK you for you’re lack of self worth and care of human kind. I think that we have taken on serious subject…CANCER, DEATH, TOBACCO; and have given mark a serious display of inhuman affection and discord. People SUCK!

It sucks that everyone sucks. To bad we all suck. and too bad nobody gives a PHUCK and never will. Money drives all... not society. Money=society therfore money is the "most" corrupt!!!!! WORD to your horring mother... she's gotta make a buck...right!?

RE: tobacco

Wow. Somebody has invested way too much of themselves into this forum. You gotta take it easy buddy. Lay off the caffiene or something. I think it's pretty pathetic that you can be so vehement in your argument that society is corrupted when you seem like the rotten apple here. Go play with some orphans or teach a blind kid how to juggle. Anything to give your life some more meaning than just this website.

RE: tobacco

What's horring? New street slang for the kids? hording? horsing(around)?

And if noone cares that everyone sucks, why do charity organizations, fundraisers, and things of that nature exist?

And here I thought society existed before the advent of money as a currency. But that would mean money can't equal society. Silly me. Guess the barter system was all a myth.

RE: tobacco
