RE: You forgot one................

This is why I wish I wasent born in the U.S.

Please don't think that what these few here think are what the rest of us think.

Their health system would be the basis for the one in the new government that I proposed.

Bowling for Columbine

How hypocritical! One of the biggest mass murders ever took place on a college campus in Canada! It's only because the media grabbed Columbine and ran with it that the whole world uses it as an example. If Canada had a true free press, it would have been all over the place as well. I think Canada is a great place but don't say it's great because killings don't happen, they do.

RE: You forgot one................

I have only been to Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. I totally loved Victoria! We went to a castle, some awesome garden place, the zoo, and a bunch of other cool places. Our mon-ay went pretty darn far, too.

I am right there with you on the Celine Dion thingy though! The woman almost went away until that damn Titanic song!!! (I must admit...I do like that song...damn...)

RE: You forgot one................

Charlie, to which murder are you referring? Is it the one in Quebec where women were the target, happened in December of 89?

RE: You forgot one................

If that is the indeed the incident to which you refer, I think it only has face value similarities with columbine. I think the main difference is that the perpetrator was not a high school student who stole his dad’s gun; rather it was a 25 year old, in a college.

From the media coverage I have seen about columbine, it is not damning the gun per se, rather it talks about the availability of guns to children. And I think because columbine took place in a high school, by these “innocent’ children, that is why it has received more coverage than the polytechnique case.

Also, I am assuming you are american, which would explain why you don’t think the media made a huge deal out of it. Quite the contrary, we have memorials all over the place for those 14 women (there is even one at my school), December 6th has been dedicated to them, our gun registration laws are mainly in effect because of this event.

I think you should be careful judging what Canadian media does when you do not have the access to it, that you should for such a remark.

RE: You forgot one................

The truth is that one reason the US is the number one country is for our actions, and if we were to emulate canada, then we... wouldn't be. Free health care is actually not a good thing, the effect on an economy is pretty bad. Michael Moore is probably one of the biggest idiots out there, if you listen to his obnoxious propaganda then I feel sorry for you. The main point was to say, that if we were to become more like canada then we would not be a super power, and currently thats extremly bad for the world economy.

RE: You forgot one................

I have seen Bowling of Columbine and I liked it. I appreciated Micheal Moores opions about Marylan Mansion and poverty in certain areas in the US, but what I dont like is how it's called a "documentary" when really it's him on camera for 2 1/2 hours talking about his political propaganda. Micheal Moore doesn't hate the US, he hates the republican party. So he made this movie to express all the bad things that happen, but in the end, it always turns out to be a republicans fault for whatever happened.

Hey finarfin, shut the **** up. Had a group of terrorists crashed an airplane in Toronto or something you would probably go to war too. Then again YOU would probably just sit there and crap yourself and send America to fight your war for you so that you wouldn't appear as a "violent" country in the next Micheal Moore film.

Personally I think we attacked the wrong country in the middle east, the majority of terrist support comes from the Saudi royal family, but ohh well. Saddam was a bad guy too, and though canada doesnt send soldiers to war, just means that the growth of your country is stunted.

RE: You forgot one................

Yes, while it's true that America has a crap load of problems, and it may seem that Canada is a utopian sociatey in comparison - it's just too unrealistic to compare the two. You're comparing nations that are vastly different on many levels, including population, diversity and culture. To say that Canada is better because it provides its citizens with free healthcare is way too vague. Most US citizens are provided healthcare by their employers, albeit with some price attached, but so do Candians through higher taxes. Poor and underprivledged people are provided healthcare through government programs as well (medicare/aid). yes, they have their share pf problems too, but it's not as if Americans dont give a sh*t. We have arguably the best healthcare in the world and no one seems to want to f*ck with that, so very little change occurs.

RE: You forgot one................

Hey Sure, if you that that free healthcare is a bad thing, I suggest you go down to any childrens hospital in lower class american cities and ask the parents of children who have cancer what they think of it. Or rather go to a parent of a child that has cancer and can't afford to be in a hospital getting treatment for their kid. And the fact that you think that "Bowling for Columbine"'s main idea what that if anerica were more like Canada it would no longer be a super power, then all I have to ask is what the hell movie were you watching?!
