Well...

I realize that this board is quite old. especially with this new year, but as controversial as this topic is, I have to believe that what another believes, so it shall be. One claiming to be telekinetic does not bare the label of a lair, a cheat, or a scam artist. Though, there are those out there who claim for commercial purposes to make profit or otherwise, some chose to hold there beliefs of the paranormal to themselves, and, when they chose to speak up, they are shut down and classified as "dim-witted", "ignorant", "stupid", and "lairs". But when one truly believes something is tangible and true, it is true TO THEM. I, myself will say that I do have high skepticism towards the paranormal, but everyday little miracles present themselves and show that what one strives for, one shall receive. And that is why I believe TK can very well exist. In fact, this very site is PROOF of its existence. Not proof that one can use it, but the fact that the idea still lives on. For those who say it's not real, I'm sorry but you a very wrong. If it were not real, this site, these posts, these thoughts, these aggressions towards this subject would have been nothing but a faint twinkle in the imagination of all. When someone sets out to imprint an idea that is created into the mass minds of people, it becomes as real as the very words I type. Because it is a thought, a dream, an IDEA that STILL LIVES ON. Now, when one chooses to believe such an idea, the mind will set out to make it tangible. Thus, people will force Their world to create and express their beliefs. If you think all I'm saying is non-sense, then think of religion. I am not a religious man, but I do believe that others believe in their Gods. Religion, in many respects, is an IDEA that has become TANGIBLE by people DEVOTING themselves TO MAKING IT SO. Given that respect, is it truly so hard to believe that one day, years in the making, a family dedicating all their time and effort through generations of making an idea tangible, will one day offer the very proof we seek of today? all who say it does not exist, that is your belief but I tell you, you are wrong. If it did not exist, you never would have thought of the idea.
And that is what it is. An idea to be made tangible.

I am very apologetic about how long this post is, I just felt a different approach to this topic was needed.

Actually, for a 15 year old, any age come to that, that is a very good post. It goes deep.

RE: RE: Well...

Thank you Keith, but as of yesterday I am now 16!
Haha HUGE diference, I know.

But on a serious note:
Ever since reading this whole board, I've been questioning many things in my life.

Not that I hadn't before, but I've been more focused on what the coming years will really bring us all.

I fear that I will find my answer, but agitated because I know I wont.
The world around us is changing and no one can do anything about it. Though we struggle to fight back the damage humans have brought this planet, who is to say that down the line the sins of us will rise again. I apologize I am ranting again, but I like having my thoughts heard, though I can never vocalize my insanities...

Telekinesis...
Long ago, man would just simply look up at the stars and wonder, is there intelligent life out there? Is there a place just like home, orbiting another star that we do not see?
Now a days, we look inside ourselves for the unexplained.
Maybe the simple truth is that all humanity seeks answers to it's problems that are mysterious. We fight so hard to believe in something, something that will give us hope to find the answers of all questions we have. Maybe the simple truth is that humanities neck became sore from looking at the distant galaxies, and now we look inside ourselves for the miracle. We pray and hope that something out of our normal control can reside within us and give us all that we have ever wanted. Just maybe it is possible, that humans have tricked themselves into believeing that our problems are all external, and we have no control. So we are forced to search for something to shed the light. But what one must realize is that we all just need to open our minds, and listen to our hearts, not our minds. We don't need hope from a bit of SciFi reading, when all we have to do is make friends with ourselves, and find the answers right infront of us.

My mind spins with thoughts of life and death, but I, myself, run from the answers, and search for something extrodinary that will change the way all man thinks. Maybe I just need to open my eyes..

RE: Well...

It does seem that the human race has always looked for something beyond itself, some greater power that is in control of our destinies. We are looking for a purpose, a reason for our existence. And always looking for that extra something, that mystery that eludes us. For some people TK is that little mystery, that example of there being something more.
For others, TK is just another example of wishful thinking and wanting to believe, regardless of the facts.
We can all pick and chose our "facts"

RE: Well...

Humanity, the Universe.

How humans comprehend the universe.

It's amazing when you think about it.

By the way, I love the section in your book that talks about your little theory about how humans might evolve into machines and eventuelly become one with the universe. It's incredibly interesting how that theory could be possible, and that seems like the ultimate evolution.

RE: Well...

I think the whole universe, us, who are we, science, religion, self awareness, our past, our future, how we got here, why we are here, its all just so amazing.
I canĀ“t understand why so many people hardly give it a thought. Too busy just getting by I suppose, but all my life these things have intrigued me.
The existence of the universe, how it came into being, seems impossible. It can drive you nuts thinking about it lol!
I am sorry for any spelling errors, this is a spanish computer and keyboard and it does not spell check other than spanish. I am lost without a spell check.

RE: Well...

I couldn't agree more, like I said in the topic on God, about how so many people I know simply live their lives blindly, never stopping to think.

I like to think of people who believe in religion as having a box around their mind. And in this box lies all the answers to the universe, It's a world of peace and security because its all going to make sense in the end. Everything you ever do will have a purpose. The only downside is the world in this box isn;t real.

Outside the box however is another world, a world of uncertainty. A world where the unknown will stay unknown, and humans can be lonely and unloved. A world where there is hate and pain. A world with endless possibilities. This world may not seem as good as the box, but at least its the truth.

Sometimes I wish my life would have been different, but then I remember that it's because of my interesting past which caused me to become incredibly open minded and philisophical. All my past experiences caused me to seek out more information on the questions of the universe. And now I'm so happy that I don't live in that box where the real world can't even be seen.

RE: Well...

I couldn't agree more. Religous folk will stop at nothing until they completley close their minds to anything outside their "box" as you put it.
My only wish is that one day, people will stop hating those who do not have similar beliefs as them, and, as blatently harsh this may sound, religion will be abolished... Beleive me I am not saying people shouldn't believe in something, but with all the war and corruption in this world, religion goes hand in hand with weapons of destruction, and is very much responsible for the deaths of many... I know any god loving person is going to have quite the reaction to that statement, but look at the eastern countries who have been in war since god can remember (no pun intended) over whose religion is the correct one. A world without religion is a world without hope, true, but it is also one without much war and death. A world with no religion is one with uncertainty and mystery, and a world with potential to grow. It's a world that is unstable but one with idealism and a place where all thoughts can be spoken without being damned and hated. But I guess this is where religion comes to fruition after all, because some do need the stability that a world without god lacks.

RE: Well...

Religion will never be abolished, that I can guarantee. With the state of intelligence the human race has right now religion will never leave. People need comfort and answers, religion provides these things and more.

RE: Well...

True, and that is what the end of my post was starting to get at. But as long as there are people willing to die for their religion, there will be people ready to kill for it too. And war will never cease.

RE: Well...

Religion has been the cause of a great many wars over the ages, we all know this, many have died in the name of one God or another, and for what? The problem is though that even without religion (which would be a great thing as far a I am concerned)we would still have wars. Countries fight over scarce resources and because ultimately we cannot tell what the other person is really thinking, that is the bottom line, we are unable to fully trust one another.
Without trust we have suspicion. We have an eternal problem when dealing with each other, which can be summed up as "What do you really mean, what do you really want from me, and can I trust you?

RE: RE: Well...

I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with the term "memes" I think first started by Richard Dawkins. A meme is like a "unit" of culture (such as religion or other cultural ideas and practices). Memes are like genes in the human body in that they are responsive to "pressures" (like natural selection) and self-replicate (just like DNA and genes). Religion is one of the best examples of a meme. I believe that religion will eventually phase itself out of existence as our cultural ideals and practives continue to evolve. We can already see this trend in motion as the number of athiests and agnostics are increasing exponentially. As our technology and knowledge continues to rapidly expand more and more people will realize how completely ridiculous religion is. There may be a generational timelag becuase but still I very much belief and hope that most of the world's religions would be phased out of existence by the end of my lifetime. Perhaps not in the Middle East or in the United States. As I said the number of athiests and agnostics are currently increasing and this number will only continue to rise and very likely at an exponential scale (barring some catastrophic change). Religion is just an evolutionary meme that is no longer necessary for our continued survival and reproduction and over a period of time WILL phase itself out of existence, it is just a matter of when; again unless some drastic change occurs.
