I disagree. The category for "best female FRONTED band" is ALL original bands and that wouldn't be fair to anybody there to have one or two tributes in it. It's apples and oranges. This category is all tributes.

I happen to know that HeartBreaker WAS the first and only tribute with a female around when they started, I think around six years ago? What would YOU call them then? And when clubs book a "all-female" night and add a "Pat Benatar" or "Heart" tribute would you say? They don't belong there? And Pat Benatar was ABOUT Pat Benatar...even though the backing band was rockin' and significant, it WAS about Pat Benatar...she's female...hello. And the Heart and Alanis tributes aren't "all-female."

Therefore in MY opinion they have as much right to be here as any one of the other tributes.
They HAVE to be allowed to be in SOME category and this seemed to be the most appropriate one to me once I looked at the other categories. Obviously, the contest holders agree with that or they wouldn't have been added to the category.

In fact, I think they may have been nominated into the best female fronted category and were not added for that reason. There are no tributes in that category. So to say they don't belong here isn't fair when there's no other category to put them in.

Besides, if what you're saying should be considered, maybe there should have been a "best FEMALE FRONTED TRIBUTE" category? The only problem is, the way I see it, if that were the case it would either be only a couple of bands, (because there just aren't that many tributes with only a female front), OR, it would be just the opposite and ALL the "all-female" tributes would be in there too becase they have a fremale front person and it would be JUST LIKE THIS CATEGORY!

So, there's really no point in saying they don't belong here...

female tributes

John, you're right in your comment. This category is all wrong for the two Benatar tributes to be nominated in.

I just want to say I've seen both bands too and I like Heartbreaker MUCH better. There's just no comparison and everyone I've talked to agrees. Heartbreaker rocks!

Pat Benatar & Best Female Tribite

Barry, you're right about Pat Benatar, she did do covers before she was big. And a lot of her songs on her albums are covers. But I noticed that Heartbreaker does a lot more variety of tunes. That's more like a tribute to me. I want to hear all the songs I know when I see a tribute. I saw Heartbreaker in San Diego with Atomic Punks and they were great. I don't know why all you other people are being so critical of them? I appreciated every song they did and it sounded right on down to the money. I also saw Precious Time and I thought the singer's voice was good but she didn't have a lot stage presence, she kind of just stood there and sang and really didn't say much to the audience. Even though I don't think Precious Time is a bad band I prefer Heartbreaker to Precious Time. They're just better in my opinion.

Late Start and Still Ahead!

Hey Zubin,

Check the polls. Heartbreaker got late a start and now look where they are. That speak volumes to me. I doubt if Heartbreaker is bummed out with that response. In my estimation, it took Precious Time more than weeks head start to be 23% behind Heartbreaker so I wouldn't assume anything.

FYI...

"Pat Benatar was born Patricia May Andrzejewski in Brooklyn. Her mother, Millie, was a trained opera singer, so Benatar was raised on classical music. Benatar also sang in the school choir. In 1971, she graduated from high school with a college scholarship in hand, but the adventurous teen instead married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Benatar, and moved to South Carolina, where she worked at a bank. All along, however, she pined for rock 'n' roll fame.

In 1974, Benatar began fronting a local cover band, singing everything from torch songs to Neil Diamond tunes."

Bands....

Hey everyone....

Well, I have seen it all...lol!! I posted on here I think only twice. It is neat to have BOTH bands nominated. People should be happy with that, instead it doesn't look like it.

I am glad for both bands. And I figured in my last post...people like who they like and it is cool that you can vote for whichever band you wish.

But, when I saw some of the comments..whoa...some people need to take a little breather.

People are trying to make it into a circus (figures and it doesn't surprise me at all actually) Just because you "prefer a band" that isn't the most "popular one" on the boards...you get nailed.

I do NOT have time nor do I sit here all day voting..duh? Read the rules..you can't do that anyway. But, even if you could...I wouldn't do that. Can't believe someone has the nerve to post that HB fans sit here all day and do nothing when....matter of fact...

I have thought it was the OTHER way around. Sorry but when a little board is so one sided it makes me think...ding dong...? It's obvious.

This is NOT a board for ONE band although it looks like it. Besides the BENATAR bands, there are other bands NOMINATED.

Al along it has only been for "one band" from the posts I have seen. And, that would be cool if people would come down and get a grip because people that like OTHER bands are being insulted.

I know why this is becoming a circus. It isn't about ONE band. It isn't about who is SEXY and HOT...it is about the best SINGER and VOCALS...etc...

I would never have posted this cause like I said...people have a RIGHT to like who they like and people should not post on here...knowing that 1000's of people will read the posts...just to tear someone down like I have seen. Note: people read the insulting posts closely...

I feel...cool! To each his or her own but someone saying that about HB fans...when in reality...it is being done by the OTHER camp is crazy. Look at the posts. It's obvious the posts are one sided. Whoever votes against that gets knocked down.

So...WHO sits here all day? Check out the majority of the posts...it sure isn't HB fans. Duh? The posts are mostly from the other camp and NOT from fans... Think about it....

I am a FAN...But I know this will not get posted or it will be shot down cause it is against the "circus" that is going on here....

It's sad bands have to make it this way...I was actually rooting for EVERYONE. Bands that are acting this way should not be in the competition. I feel bad for all the bands who are trying to take this seriously and BEING fair...and to have this being turned into a circus....it's sad...GIVE the OTHER bands a CHANCE..How about that??

It isn't about ONE band. Stop making it so...it isn't about who is HOT or SEXY stop making it so...or...there should be a category about who is the most hot and sexy PERSON in a band....that has nothing to do with what people are voting on...

By the way...the OTHER band whether you like it or not...is TRAINED too..duh? lol!!

Pat Benatar is just got more famous

I think it is cool that there are more Benatar bands out here now! My favorite music from way back! PB Rocks! Wonder if she is aware of the Newest tribute bands here on the West Coast as well as the East Coast! I have heard there are a couple of Heartbreaker bands forming here in San Diego. And one person on here mentioned Pat Benatar music is like a cover band. Did you know that many of Pats songs are indeed cover tunes! Many of her tunes are written by someone other than her and Neil! So it is still an honor for a band to play and sing those "so called cover tunes" in tribute to Pat Benatar! Pat herself has no problem singing cover tunes! One guys opinion! Take it any way you want to!

Opinions

I think it's interesting that so many people have such a competitive nature. For someone to say that anyone is the best is purely subjective. I've seen some of the nominees and I liked some better than others, that doesn't mean that it's a hard fact anyone is "better". Just my $.02. It's clear that the Benatar bands here are competitors, but they both offer something the other doesn't. For a band that's been around as long as Heartbreaker, it must be a drag that they only have so many people voting for them in contrast to a relatively new band Precious Time having so many people having seen both with such strong opinions about their preferences in favor of Precious Time. I happen to prefer Precious Time. That doesn't mean that Heartbreaker is bad, just not as rocking in my opinion.

Battle of Benatar bands

PRECIOUS TIME for best tribute and best female vocals. It doesnt matter how fixed this contest is or how much money you have to get the votes you want but the comments and the votes before it became fixed speak for themselves I dont believe this is a true blue contest. Sindee should get the award and everyone knows it. They are a new band and the competition is mediocore at best. HB must have an army of people on their computers who have nothing to do all day but make up emails just to vote.

Hey dude/or chick in disquise.. Pat Benatar has red hair like the singer of Precious Time and I think that picture of Pam on her website must be about 10 yrs old cause she doesnt look like that in person. I think both singers are good but Precious Time is giving the other Benatar tributes a run for their money. I think that is why her friends are all trying to rip on Sindee. Sindee is a nice person, very beautiful inside and out. Sindee's voice is awesome, powerful, authentic! This is a tribute band not an impersonater band. If the looks were all that counted than the maidens, and whole lotta rosies should wear MAN MASKS and dress like men, in other words it doesnt matter what you look like dummy the crowd wants to hear friggin ROCK! The crowd wants to hear good music. The guys only care if the singer looks like someone they would "do" and sounds good. You do the math!!

Female Tributes

Yeah, I thought best female tribute meant "women only". If there are guys in the band, they should be in the best tribute or female fronted category. I don't think any guys would be proud of winning the best FEMALE tribute award.

Heartbreaker

in response to Anthony. Maybe Pam from Heartbreaker has a lot of stage experience, because she has been on the seen for many years, which is a good thing, she has been seasoned. Precious Time is a new band this year and is up and coming, give them a chance and they will be as seasoned too! Judging by the votes here, Precious time seems to be well liked by the audience as well for a new band this year! If you read Precious Times Bio, the singer Sindee" is from a long line of Opera Stars in her famiily and she has been trained as an opera singer herself, (as Pat Benatar) and has studied at one of the most prestigeous schools for the performing arts! And if that is not enough she is directly realted to one of the most famous composers and conducters in the world. Mr. Leonard Bernstein himself! The singer from Precious Time is also a lyric writer and has written many original songs. Her grandmother is also a lyric writer and wrote one of the most famous songs in the world (deep Purple). She is realted to Philip Skinner, another famous Opera Star, and her cousins are in Opera as well. This pretty much sums this up for me. I think Ms. "Sindee Almaraz" from Precious Time, will be going places in the near future! Look and watch for her latest and newest CD to hit soon!
