RE: Relationships

You are supposed to get a 10-15 minute break every two hours + lunch break. Are they paying you overtime? This isn't a white collar office job, you can't be abused especially by a big chain store like Starsucks.

RE: Relationships

Yea, thats what I thought to. Were not a full starbucks. We are owned by Host Mariot. HMSHost is an evil company. We are so shorthanded now, just me and Beth from 5am to 3pm. I wish I worked for just starbucks. We haveto go by the rules from both companies, only the starbucks rep. isn't around but once in a while, so HMSHost wins out on things like pay, uniform, and breaks. I just cleared $306.00 today and I get paid every week. (71 hours though)

A few of us went to the labor board, they won't touch HMSHost.

No apologies neccesary, it's the internet.

RE: Relationships

Bull****. the Dept of Labor doesn't pick and choose who has to follow rules. Every employer is required to hang employee rights posters up. If any of those rights are violated, they WILL get in trouble. If your rights were violated, you have can file a complaint and the gov't has to investigate. I am pretty sure that as a professional liquid distributor you are to be paid 1.5x after forty hours. If so, a company can not just decide they don't feel like paying overtime. They are legally responsible to pay.

$306 for 71 hours? Before taxes, you made $390 and no overtime? Man, you would cry if you knew how many hours I would need to work to match that.

RE: Relationships

The cost of living in WV is realy low. I'm not just poking at the rest of the hilbillies, but most of them live on about 500 a month. I'm doing 1200. My rent is only $225, with all utilities, my car is paid for and the inshurence is only $86 a month. Even with everything else, food, gas, stuff, I can put back two paydays a month. Thats $600 a month into my retirement. It may not be much, but all I need is a bit of land in Ireland and I'm set.

I do get overtime, I just don't get breaks. My overtime starts at 40 hours. We are just shorthanded right now, after some more people are hired then we'll be fine. If not I'll take that job offer at Walmart in the bakery. I've already worked there before and a new store is opening close by.

Dragonkid:

Why in the hell don't you just get a better job that pays more money? There's no reason why anyone that's reasonably intelligent, wants to work, and is reliable to show up everyday can't make at least $10 / hr.

$225 for rent and utils? Do you live in a cardboard box?

RE: Relationships

Point me in the direction of a job like that here in WV. Bosses don't care if you show up all the time and are willing to work those kind of hours, at least none that I've met.

I live in a one room apt. that my aunt rents me. Rent is cheap here anyway. I'm about 10 miles from the city so I could get a 2 room for about 300.

Question for Dragonmaster -

I saw an advertisement in a magazine for Starbucks which featured Drinkable Chocolate, which seems interesting, but not sure, is it hot or cold, tell me about it? Does it also have coffee in it somehow? Does it come in more than one flavor?

RE: Relationships

Wow that's a fascinating idea - I wish I came up with that.
It's chocolate..... but in liquid form so you can drink it. Genius. I wonder how they do that?

GirlUWant

Yay

"Chantico" is the new drink we have. It is a VERY rich chocolate drink.

Chocolate is from the Cacao tree, also called Theobroma cacao. "Theobroma" from Greek means "Food of the Gods"

Drinking Chocolate dates back more than 1,500 years. The first users of the Cacao were the Olmecs (1500-400B.C.) But the Maya cultivated cacao and transformed it into a beverage. Both the Maya and the Aztecs poured chocolate into vessels from a heght of several feet or more to create the highly prized foam on top of the beverage. (lucky me we have a steam wand now) Chocolate was even used as money.

Anyway, then the english went over there and **** all over everything, added milk and sugar to it couse they are pussies that couldent take the richness of the drink. Some doctor marketed it as a healthy dring couse it "surprisingly" was an aphrodisiac and a medicine that "improved mental abbilities". Take it to some english doctor to make money off of something that people knew for thundreds of years, after the people who knew it where wiped out.

Chantico is the Aztec goddes of home and hearth, as well as fertility, and is symbolically associated with volcanoes and a blazing, fire-red serpent.

Thats bad news for Starshmucks, who desided to trademark her name. Yes, that right, starbucks TRADEMARKED the name of a GODDESS. Thats worse than when they copyrighted Viente, which is the number 20.
She is going to be ****ed now. I wonder if thats why all that **** is happening where most of starbucks coffay comes from...........

RE: Relationships

ops, sorry. It's a hot drink served at 140f and no coffee in it. You can customise it anyway you want though.

We arernt supposed to describe it like this, but it's like a realy good dark chocolate bar that you have melted and are now drinking. It's so rich that it normaly comes in a 6ounce cup.

RE: Relationships

How much does it cost? I have melted chocolate bark before to cover pretzels with, and in the picture it kind of looked like that...so if it is served at 140 degrees and is thick, what happens to it when it gets to room temperature, would it have the same thickness, just not be warm to drink, or would it turn solid at all?

I have got to try this stuff! Is it good? Do you like it?

RE: Relationships

Leave it to Starbucks to figure out a way to charge $3 for a fancy cup of hot chocolate.

Dragonmaster, chocolate doesn't actually grow on trees. The beans from the Cacao tree are one of the ingredients, just like a rue does not come from wheat. The Aztec and Mayan drink you are thinking of is called xocoatl. The Spanish brought back chocolate (ground cacao and corn with raucau)and added the vanilla and sugar, not the English. A dutch guy made the cocoa press and that is what opened up mass production of cocoa and chocolate. Quetzalcoatl is the Aztec god that brought chocolate to them.

Chantico has nothing to do with chocolate and she was turned into a dog by the food god. Not the best goddess to use.

Some other trademarked gods - Mercury, Phoenix, Saturn, Orion, Olympus, Janus, Aurora, Ajax, and Nike.

Veinte is the number 20.
