HL2 and CSS Stutter

AMD 2000+
512 Mb 2700 RAM
GF4 Ti4600 and changed to ATI Radeon 9600SE 256mb CARDS both with the same result.

Stutter making CSS unplayable but HL2 seems to be improving slightly with the patches.

Stutter at every new sound or ambush

AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 400MHz FSB
2X256MB Corsair XMS 2-3-2, 1X512MB Corsair XMS 2-2-2, all at 400MHz, 2-3-2
ASUS A7N8X-E
ATI Radeon 9700
WD 36GB Raptor (this is where the game is installed), Maxtor 120GB, both SATA
Using onboard Soundstorm

Playing at everything on high, 1280X1024. Lower resolutions make no difference, and it is generally smooth.
Using all latest drivers, defragged, etc.

specs

p4 3.0ghz w/ HT enabled
1gb ddr ram
chaintech 256mb 6800GT oc'd
120gb sata drive
SB live!

ingame settings are set to recommended settings, except resolution, set to 1600x1200.

game gets consistently 60+ fps, but the sound on 4 or more speaker settings causes huge stutter.
only thing that gets rid of it is setting it to 2speaker/headphone setting.

Yep here, all Source games

Specs:

Athlon XP 2600+ Barton
512MB DDR 2700
Asus GeForce 4 Ti4800SE 8x
Windows XP SP1/XP SP2 (recently formatted)

Not only does Half Life 2 and CSS give me this (CSS is a lot more lenient because it is a hell of a lot less complex), but also does Vampire: Bloodlines.

It is because of this that I loathe the Source engine and HOPE it is not licensed.

Not terrible

I have always got stutter on saves (quick and auto) and when it loads, but this stops after a second or two.

I have also noticed that the pause time on autosaves has reduced drastically as patches are released.

AMD 64 3400+
Radeon X800 Pro
512Mb RAM

Played at 1280x1024 no AA

Second Monitor?

I had it until I lowered the texture resolution.

I would not be surprise if my problem comes from HL2 trying to use all 128MB on my video card without realising that a part of it is reserved for my second monitor. Then my system stutter badly, models disappear, textures get corrupted.
However, I never tried to play with my second monitor disabled.

Bi-AMD MP 1900+
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB
768MB RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy

Sloppiest code EVER

I've tried every *^&%&^ suggestion in the book. Nothing works. I've got a box-standard premium Dell gaming system (which I bought specifically for this game)...there is nothing in my box or my configuration that is obscure...therefore there is no excuse for Valve/Vivendi QA to let this game go gold. It doesn't run correctly on a maxed-out Dell system, people!!!! Face it, the code theft left you scrambling and you rushed to market with a POS substitution for your original code.

I can't believe all the gaming review sites & mags agreed to write their reviews based on their experiences playing on YOUR computers, in YOUR offices, not their own. Talk about controlling the message!! If they had been able to play on their own computers, you wouldn't have gotten HALF the good reviews that you got! Shame on you!!

half lief 2 stutter

i too still get the very occasional stutter. The biggest improvement i got was from disabling my active viruscan shield. lowering PCI latency did nothing for me.
