cuppajane

Are you a guy or a girl? Where are you from? We just haven't gotten to know you here. Your name tends to sound girlish, but you seem more like a dude. Just curious...

my quick

I'm a girl (woman actually since I'm newly 35 but I don't feel that old). I just moved out to Silicon Valley with my bf like 7 months ago from Atlanta. I suppose I sound kind of like a guy cuz I'm one of those girls who's had lots of "guy friends" and grew up with a pack of wolves and a military dad (older brothers really toughened me up). My mom's girliness rubbed off but there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for sensitivity on this board, lots of sharks here even if they are only lemon sharks!!

I'm totally unemployed..been for like a year or so minus freelance stuff. Worked in stock photo biz for years but that cow has been deflating rapidly hence the unemployment. I have a BA in photography, I'm all about travelling when I can, I have dual citizenship with US and Australia and I LOVE cooking and being the hostess with the mostess.

Any questions? I'm not an open book per say but I am quite friendly and I love OT's sense of humor! Oh, and I'm still waiting for the mobster to come whack me!

RE: cuppajane

So you are an Aussie like Snrub? Do you have dual citizenship because your American parents gave birth to you in Austalia? Which makes me wonder what kind of accent you have! LOL

Now I remember you saying that you have a younger boyfriend. At first I thought you were a girl and then something you posted made me wonder if you were a guy.

Since you moved to California, maybe you could have a career as a paparazzi sleeze! LOL Just watch out for Lindsay Lohan. She'll whack you, too.

RE: cuppajane

my mom is australian and when I was 12 she took me and my bro's there to live for a year..for the experience. my parents swear up and down it wasn't a separation which i guess i believe since they are still together. after that year, we headed to georgia to see my grandparents and the light aussie accent we picked up got mixed with a southern accent-we were a mess. Now my accent is a mix of reporter (no accent) and southern (the more i drink the more southern i get).

If I believed any celebrity about not wanting the papparazzi, then I'd charge them NOT to stalk them.

I knew that was coming with the stock photo market. I got out of any commercial type photography years ago and went into something that paid enough to live on. With all the royalty-free discs and fools that will give their work for free just to be published, I can't imagine how anyone can make anything in that field.

RE: cuppajane

oh totally, i thought i was being smart by working in the archive side of it but man how wrong i was. one thing i did before being laid off which i am sooo glad i did was i got a hold of a bunch of NASA photos (public domain) and loaded them into my old employers archive and they sell like hotcakes! it's like text book publishers are some of the laziest when it comes to finding photos. royalties for public domain photos...such a stumper!

Buff-ay - where have you been?

Hey cuppajane - what do you think of Jones Soda? They are a cool little company that obviously appreciates photography!

RE: cuppajane

Hey GUW, do you call a cup of coffee a cuppa over there?, maybe thats why you didnt get it.

If you have people over you just say 'who wants a cuppa?'

RE: cuppajane

that's the soda co. that made that turkey and gravy soda isn't it! ewww i do like that they use really unusual photos in relation to soda (lots of stock!). isn't "cuppa" just from saying you want a cup of "beverage" really fast? I love how aussies take a word and bastardize it like resume would be rezzie

snrub, what's your favorite candy bar? i'll take anything cadbury and want to marry a peppermint crisp!!! (visited cadbury in tasmania and it had to be a highlight of my life)
