to Devil May Care

Pathetic, is it? Well, if you don't like it, then get the hell off of this site. If you don't like it then get lost. You're not wanted here.

Why bother?

What I don't get is why even bother putting up a donation thing? If anyone does donate, it'll be for like two bucks. I personally don't feel this is worth money, and I'll explain why. Any artist who chooses to put up their work on the Net without having it a pay to look is offering their services to the public. For free. Kouta Hirano's work, although Erin does note at the bottom of the page that Hellsing is his, remains the artist's work, and I don't feel anyone should be accepting money for a take-off of someone else's works.
Secondly, what on earth could a high school student living with her parents need the money for? When I was in high school, I had a set amount for gas and anything over was mine. If I wanted something, it was either wait for a birthday or go out and make enough money to get it myself. As far as I'm aware, she has no heavy expenses due to the comic itself, considering Keenspace is a -free- hosting site, so I find it rather offensive that she'd ask for money. Admittedly, I do enjoy the comic. However, I've enjoyed it for free in the past, and shall continue to do so. If the comic disappears, my life will not be darkened because of it. There are hundreds of good comics on the Net, all of which have been put up for the public, without strings.
Erin, you admit to being greedy. At least you're being honest. If enjoying what you do, and the praise that comes your way for it isn't enough for you to keep the comic going, then the comic isn't worth either doing or reading.

Copyright

Erin is violating the Darkhorse copyright by asking for any money in order to keep these pathetic comics going.

Ok, sorry... I guess you're right. I was just a little riled up there. I didn't wait to cool down first before typing.

Usage of Donations

First off: let's not make this a bickering issue, okay?

Second: Erin is being honest. 10 points for her there.

Third: I'm getting the impression the comics arn't stopping anytime soon. 3 cheers for that.

Fourth: If she can get through high school making comics, mayhap she'll get through college as well while still giving us great comics. Cross fingers on that one.

Fifth: She's not demanding or expecting all of us to 'pay up'. We can or we don't; our personal desicions.

Orange: Don't donate and continue to enjoy the comics. Maybe drop an e-mail occasionaly saying 'Great work Erin'. That'll be appreciated just as much, I'm sure. :)

Orange

What's your point, Orange? That Erin does not deserve the money?! Hell, she so damn deserves it! She draws all these comics for us for FREE and is now just asking for a little donation. And it's not like she's demaning everyone, including the poor, to donate.

How much do you put out for the comic? If you were asking us to help you fund the making of the comic itself(ie markers, ink, special paper, pencils), or asking us to help support you and give you the free time to make the comic (whick you told us you don't need since you are supported by your parents), I would understand. However, you told us you were going to use our money to bu yourself anime DVDs and manga. Interesting. Have you atually recieved money yet? I wonder if I posted a donation box and asked people to give me money so I can buy clothes how much money I would get.

money to spare

If I wasn't busy saving every scrap of money for a wedding and for furnishing a new place to live, I would. I might be able to spare something small though...
