OBASANJO'S PERFORMANCE

Nigeria is a peculiar state and Obasanjo's reigns is also peculiar.
This are the peculiarities:
Corruption has eating deap into our fabric.
We came from military regimes.
A country with over 300 ethnic groups.
Emergence of iconoclastic groups.
Low level of education.
Low capacity utilisation of industries.
Distrust among the citizens.
Lack of partriotism and love for the nation.
The choice of western culture which lead to lack of identiyy.
Dilapidating infrastruture.
High debt burden.
Low credit profile.
Insecurity.
This and many more made Nigeria very different from many other countries of the world. We should not put the blaim on this factors on OBJ, if we do that we may not be able to solve them because he is not the achitect of this problems and secondly we may unconsciously pass on the blaim to Yar'adua.
Non of us can be exonerated from these factors, we are all acomplices and so we all need to check ourselves.
We should not forget what happened in Bible when Jesus tld the people who are trying to stone a woman to death for commiting adultry.
To my understanding, considering all these factors that will walk against any good intension by any government, i think this government as done extremely well.
We should not forget that at the inception of Obj administration, many people were talking about desintregation but today many of us believe in the project Nigeria that our Stock market is growing very fast.
There are many arears where he has done well. Only a cynic will not see them

Rc Try to be tolerrant

I think this forum is a platform for interacting and sharing ideas, i am suprise that the forum has been invaded by intolerant people.
The identity of the members are concealed because it is online and it should remain irrelevant if we must move on.
I have stated in clear terms, my accessment of the governemnt of Obj just as others.
My oppinion may not tally with yours and a cililised mind would have asked me more question instead of trivialising the issues.
That is how you can learn and grow MR RC.
Nobody can arrogate the monopoly of wisdom to himself, that is if MR RC has an iorta of wisdom.

YAR ADUA

Umar Yar Adua is the new Nigeria President. If he realy want to build Nigeria very well he should forget about arresting the past Governors office holders and call them to invest their loots in Nigeria but if they refuse they shoul be areested and investigated, but for the newly elected governors, reps and all should be given a close circuit monitoring and funds divertion or misaoppropriation of funds by any elected officer should send to jail when found guilty.

babaginda justified at last. thanks to OBJ

It is a norm when a dog bites a man, but an abormination when man start bitting dog. This is typical of the OBJ and his rule for eight years. it beats my immagination that IBB in all ramification can be better a leader that self-righteous OBJ.My hope of better Nigeria is almost, but God forbid amen. Let's give the man 8 months and his eyes will open again to the evil he perpetuated. May God forgive him. But know it that there will be no peace unto the wicked until he repent. Lucky IBB, OBJ did vindicated you.

Re: OBJs Legacy

For those who insist Obasanjo is the best thing to have happened to Nigeria, those of us from Anambra State know him as the worst calamity to have befallen the state since it was created. Perhaps, Anambra is not part of Nigeria.

OBJ, Wrong Expression of Democracy

The Eight years of Chief Obasanjo,s malaministartion leaves us with mixed feelings, I read a publication from sunonline where the achievments of Obasanjo were clearly enumerated, and I wonder the write was quite UNFAIR to the Old former president..... he painted an impression of OBJ, whose achievements as a president would be envied by satan.
But please next time such negative achievements are enumerated remember to give us a taste of the good sides of his administration,
For example;

1. PAYMENT OF NIGERIA,S EXTERNAL DEBTS, BUT LEAVING NIGERIANS 5TIME POORER THAN HE MET THEM IN 1999( isn't that an achievement)

2.FRONTALLY FIGHTING CORRUPTION WITH EFCC, BUT HIS GOVERNMENT HOUSED ACCOMPLISHED CORRUPT POLITICIANS(eg. Olabode George, I mean the NPA robbery, I did not say so o, please do not quote me o)
FREEST AND FAIREST ELECTION IN THE COUNTRY( where political loyalist to the BABA stole registration machines with impunity, incumbent Deputy Gorvernors can snatched Ballot boxes, got arrested and today are sworn in as winners)

And so on, in terms of corruption Babangida has a lot to learn from OBJ, we will have more revelations as time goes on, for now Nigerians should at least heave a sigh of relief, we just begun a proper process of democratisation. GOOD BYE OBJ, PLEASE STOP CRYING.

"Power struggle between the different ethnic groups produced the foundation for the kind of government we have today: consolidated and absolute, based on the unrestrained will of the majority, with force, threats, and intimidation being the order of the day. Today's federal government is considerably at odds with that envisioned by those who fought for Nigerian independence. Ethnic politics enslavement, domination ,despotism , and aristocracy laid to rest the great principle enunciated in the Declaration of independence that 'Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

"Authority without wisdom is like a heavy axe without an edge, fitter to bruise than polish."

"The study of history is a powerful antidote to contemporary arrogance. It is humbling to discover how many of our glib assumptions, which seem to us novel and plausible, have been tested before, not once but many times and in innumerable guises; and discovered to be, at great human cost, wholly false."
