RE- OBASANJO, I HAND OVER A BETER NIGERIA

Human by our nature are afraid of change. Unfortunately, change is the only permanent situation in life. Human is thus faced with the reality of change.
Reforms are processess that lead to change, naturaly, human will not accept reforms especialy when the fruits of such reforms have long gestation period.
Most good reforms have long gestation period. Thus, the reformists are generally unpopular.
This is the reason people like OBASANJO, OBI EZEKWESILI and others are not popular.
There is know government without opposition, the opposition for there selfish reasons easily capitalises on the reforms to criticise the government.
They have succeeded because very many Nigerians are gullible.
Nigerians are not only gullible because they are citizens of a country that requires a long term reforms, but because there is poverty in the land.Poverty not created by obasanjo.
Some times i dont blame aggrieved nigerians becuase a hungry man is an angry man, but i find it difficult to believe that hunger affects people sense of reasoning.
What we only need to do as nigerians is to identify our needs and justapose it with the governent policies and programmes.
To my understanding, this government has done well to lay good foundations for a greater tommorow for nigeria.
If Obasanjo then feels he has done well enough. I think he also has the right to score himself.
This is a practical thing. We only need other people to access our performance where there is no measures of accessment at our disposal.
MR MBUK, what do you feel?

OLLA AYOBAMI

I think your problem is beyond ethnocentricity and indoctrination syndrom. You are someone who has in one way or the other benefited from OBJ regime, hence, keep on singing praises that all is well. Typical African mentality. You analyze nigerian situation from a local perspective. Most of us analyse the situation from different perspectives. Please , move round the world and compare what you see with the present condition of Nigeria. I bet you that the poorest country in Europe without oil is 1 million years ahead of Nigeria in terms of societal development.

Does this not ache anybody who loves his fathersland ? Someone feel more ache when oil worth billions of dollar is produced just from his backyard . And I know that you, OLLA, is a gold digger of the oil profit from my backyard in the name of one Nigeria, while my people perish in poverty. This gives me more headache.

RE- OBASANJO JUST GO

It is highly interesting that a Nigerian newspaper can decend so low as to mischievously write such a denigrading statement about a president.
This man as achieved more than the total contribution of all the members of SUN NEWSPAPER and out of envy, they want to run him down.
the fact that the captions of other nigerian newpapers are less insultive shows that SUN NEWSPAPER is on a solo mission.
I wonder where this dirty captions will take them.
Well, many nigerians are gullible and are easily mis-informed.
I and many of my friend along with other Nigerians are greatful to God for giving us OBJ at the time we had him.
Nobody, only a God sent can achieve all he achieved in a society like ours.
SUN NEWSPAPER, we are waiting to see how you will attempt to run Yar'Adua down since that is where you make your money from

No Excuses

The ignorant is always looking for excuses. And a bad sportsman almost always blames the umpire, rather than inventing winning ways! The Nigerian power play needs aggression and utmost wisdom, not subservient humility. In all the erstwhile FG's last minute auction, how many shares were allotted to your region? Oh well, go right on, the faithful South East; humble citizens of their fatherland, Nigeria!! How funny!!!

re: Okey - Noisy South East

I've tried to avoid this sensational issue of current power equation in the polity, but the hint I want to drop to all of you who out of sheer ignorance and subjectivity, refrained from total realities and objectivity.

A good sportsman should learn to win and bear losses consequently. What has happened to the Igbos as you're seeing it now has also been happening to other tribes the same time we're reigning as VP, Senate presidents and speakers or deputy speakers. To cry foul is being selfish. What has happened now is the opposite of what we had for 8 yrs of Obj's reign. Try to grab it, man, and stop insulting yourself thinking you're protecting the interest of the Igbos.

That we lost the speaker of the house to the South West was as a result of power play from the presidency who ought and opted to take the lion's share to his people, it's understandable in politics.
I believe you would have done the same with your current sense of judgement.

Furthermore, the evolutionary presence of the s/south grabbing the VP position which as a result has created a vacuum of contest between the s/west and s/east for the post of the speaker of the house which we eventually lost as a result of Obj's power play so as not to leave the s/west panting. Yes, we lost the battle, but it's not the end of life, OK?

re; Iyabo Obasanjo

"I want to share 10 things on leadership I've learnt from my father."

• Take success in stride i.e. Never let your success get to your head. Everything you've achieved is from God and never start to think it’s because you are better than others.

MC. Had your father lived as humble as you claimed, he wouldn't have let his claimed successes of today enter his head. And, are you telling us about the same man who described Bola Ige as a man who does not know his right from left?

Lagos imposes levy on generator owners

Now our Madness Gets Worse (MGW). Who would contemplate owning a generator if Power withHolding Company of Nigeria satisfies our power needs? Why would we encourage irresponsibility on the part of the culprit by further victimising the victim? Is this a solution to our power problem? Protecting lame ducks like PHCN, NNPC, etc. will continue to make us look like fools. To do business now in Nigeria, one must budget for power generation and all sorts of senseless levies. Those who fix their roads, provide security, potable water, patronise private schools and hospitals etc. after paying their taxes should get ready to pay senseless levies to irresponsible governments just because this is Nigeria.

Noisy South East

With Iwu overseeing the most fraudulent election 2007, and Frank Nweke, Jr. barking as OBJ's sychophant, just tell me: where is South East's Federal presence in the new dispensation? They have not the Presidency, nor the Vice; not the Senate President or even the House of Reps! Who says that Igbo politicians are not GOATS!! They will rather prefer always to be hewers of wood and drawers of water in the Nigerian system. Anyway, someone up there may please give them the job of sweeping Aso Rock Villa!!! And Ohaneze? Hell no! Please, forget them!!!!!!!!!

Congratulation, Nigeria. Know Your New Leader

Nigeria’s new president, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, is a thorough-bred politician whose life is a reflection of self-determination and integrity.

He was born in Katsina town, Katsina State in 1951 and started his education at Rafukka Primary School, Katsina in 1958 before proceeding to Dutsinma Boarding Primary School to complete his primary education in 1964.

From 1965 to 1969, he was at Government College, Keffi, in present-day Nasarawa State for his secondary education. From there, he moved to Barewa College, Zaria for his Higher School Certificate which he completed in 1971.

For his university education, Yar’adua attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, from 1972 to 1975 where he obtained a B.Sc in Education/Chemistry. As an undergraduate, he was a self-confessed Marxist and criticised his elder brother's 'capitalist' leanings.

He later returned to the same university where he bagged a Masters Degree in Analytical Chemistry in 1980. His career began at the Holy Child College, Lagos, where he successfully completed the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) between 1975 and 1976.

Afterwards, he became a lecturer at the Katsina College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria in 1976. This he continued till 1979. From here, he moved to Katsina Polytechnic, also as a lecturer and was there till 1983 when he left the public service.

Yar’adua’s apprenticeship in the private sector started at Sambo Farms Ltd in Funtua, Katsina State as the company’s pioneer General Manager between 1983-1989. He later became a Board Member, Katsina State Farmers’ Supply Company between 1984-1985, a member of the Governing Council of both Katsina College of Arts, Science and Technology and Katsina Polytechnic between 1978-1983 and Board Chairman of Katsina State Investment and Property Development Company (KIPDECO) between 1994-1996.

He served as a director of many companies, including Habib Nigeria Bank Ltd. (1995-1999), Lodigiani Nigeria Ltd. (1987-1999), Hamada Holdings (1983-1999) and Madara Ltd. Jos, (1987-1999). He was Chairman, Nation House Press Ltd, Kaduna between 1995-1999.

Yar’adua’s foray into party politics began as a lecturer when he became an active member and mobilizer for the defunct Peoples’ Redemption Party (PRP).

During the transition programme of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.), Yar’Adua was one of the foundation members of the Peoples’ Front, a political association under the leadership of his elder brother, the late Major-General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. That association later fused to form the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He was a member of the 1988 Constituent Assembly. He was also a member of the party’s National Caucus and the SDP State Secretary in Katsina State. He contested the 1991 governorship election on the platform of SDP, but lost to the candidate of the National Republican Convention (NRC).

At the inception of General Abdulsalam Abubakar’s transition in 1998, Yar’Adua founded the K34; a political association which later teamed up to form the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He contested and won election as governor of Katsina State in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003.

Yar’Adua has set a record as the first governor to publicly declare his assets and is reputed to be prudent in managing funds. After his inauguration today, Yar’Adua, a former chemistry teacher, would set another record as Nigeria's first leader for 40 years to have university education.

He has pledged to continue with the reforms of the Obasanjo-led administration and has not hidden his resolve to continue the fight against corruption. At 56, he boasts of a political pedigree that dates back to the 1960s when his father was appointed as a minister in the post-independence era.

His late elder brother, who was an army general, served as President Olusegun Obasanjo's deputy when the president was Nigeria's military ruler during the 1970s. During his tenure as governor, the state went through unprecedented development, culminating in profound transformation of the educational and health institutions, provision of rural and urban roads, electrification, water supply and agriculture.

Today, people of Katsina State can boast of a governor with proven record of prudence, accountability and transparency. Under his leadership, Katsina State now has a surplus of N6.5billion from a near empty treasury and backlog of debts in 1999.

These outstanding achievements won him the National Primary Education Productivity Merit Award in 2004 and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Best Governor Award under the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme (ACGS) in 2005.

Yar’adua’s primary health care delivery system and primary education policies have become models with compelling national appeal. He has been honoured with many other awards for prudence and accountability, among which are NUJ Abuja Council (2003); NUJ Kaduna Council (2005) and Leadership Watch (2004).

Yar’adua is happily married to Hajia Turai Umaru Yar’adua and they are blessed with children. He enjoys reading and playing squash.

RE:RICKY

If this run away thiefs have nothing to hide why are they running?
Why is the BUHARIS, PAT UTOMIS not also running or are they no more parts of opposition?
Your defence lacks merit because OBJ is also leaving office tommorrow.
You see the truth is that we enjoying peddling falsehood.
Elements like you that supports thiefs will soon be embarrassed in the next couple of days with startling revelation of these guys loot.
You will then appreciate why OBASANJO is fighting corruption---BY RICKY

I would have credited and justified your writeup had it been you included OBJ , IBORI, ANENIH, UBA, ETC among the thieves whose loot will be made public soon, but you didnt, so I call your writeup simply a garbage or a balderdash. And you dont expect OBJ to be a hunter's target when he made the hunter.Lets watchout, probably the hunter will change his mind and go after his maker.

Transformation

I think i see a transperant leader in yaradua, but for the state governors hmmmmmmmm!!could be doom.I suggest that the populace give our president elect that opportunity to transform our education sector as he is a teacher also the police force which is a total failure.I want to use this medium to urge all authourities concerned to look into the Nigeria police force and possibly retire/sack all those hoodlums who went into the system for thier selfish interest so they can parpetriate thier selfish acts and go free that the law protects them.We cant afford to loose innocent souls in this political regime.Think about this police illigal killing and molestation Mr president/authorities responsible,it can be you, your brother, friend, child, relation.

Formation of Dictatorship

A ruler camouflages to be a messiah of the people. With time he surrounds himself with sycophants who lick his xxx and praise him that he is peoples god. As long as the interest of the sycophants are secured they are his complete praise singers, see him to be God sent and a man of perfection. He undermines the constitution of the land or bend it to his comfort and selfish interest and that of his cronies and tribesmen who are majority of the sycophants. He gradually puts the law makers and the courts in his pocket, forcefully or by lobbing them. Then he creates a brutal government enforcement agent that he uses to intimidate, frighten and punish those who dare oppose him(OBJ formed EFCC and Yaradua will use it, Hitler formed SSS). While his sycophants and cronies are lawless, above the law, looters, killers and devils in the society. Gradually he creates permanent fear in the people that he becomes the peoples god actually because dissenters are on exile and the people around all become yes men. His word is peoples command and who dare oppose, is criminalized, branded unpatriotic, criminal and consequently punished. This is the genesis of a dictator.

Reflect this analogy to nigerian case.

Too Early to Rejoice

I have seen no reason to rejoice for the purpoted hand over, step aside, step down, all these can be a back door tricks, OBJ will keep operating from Ota. what different does the location of his office mean? to me none at all.

Until powers enters Yar’Adua’s head and he decides to tell OBJ that he Yar’Adua is the president not him OBJ, that will certainly be no difference between the duo.

I however believe that OBJ cannot control him for 4 years. Until he consolidates and removes himself from OBJ’s nothing is gonna change.

Mark my words
