On Past Leaders

The quest by past rulers to vie for top political office in the country beats my imagination. Why do they want to come back? Is it because they failed to change the country's furtunes during their time? or, because they wanted more wealth for themselves? The likes of Babangida, Atiku,Buhari etc who had had the opportunity of ruling this great country should not be given the chance to come back. After all some ofthem have criminal allegations against them.

2007 Elections

Nigerians should know that those calling for the outright cancellation of the election results are the nation's greatest enemies. The fact that their parties lost does not mean Nigeria should not survive or move forward.

Rigging in elections is an endemic thing in any part of the world. Though one may say the case of ours is o the high side. The present winners should be allowed to rule. Power comes from God and not Man.

The President had said "democracy is a process" and I believe we are moving gradually to a level where we will begin to have a fairer and free election as time goes by. Nigerians must understand this and give peace a chance. The two gentlemen elected (Yaradua and Goodluck),are tested people. Their coming into the scene is a departure from the old method. The youths must resist the older class from dragging the country into chaos.

Attempt To Bribe Us, Go To Jail, Tribunal Chairman

5Alive,

If they have already started making attempts to bribe them according you, what other attempt is the chairman talking about? They have already collected their bribes and decisions made for them before their inauguration. At the end of the day, they will only tell us to ACCEPT UNDEMOCRATIC PRACTICES IN THE INTEREST OF DEMOCRACY.

what makes a free and fair election

My comment will simply be, what makes a free and fair election? In 1999, i want to say did we have a free and fair?

There has never been election, we have been having selection of Leaders. Except for the 1993 election.

So the issue of some going to court to file a suit against the just concluded election is a no issue because they were aware of the evil they did in the 1999 election. There was mass rigging spearheaded by the so called aggrieved.

Atiku can not claim ignorance of all this evil embedded in the manipulation of election results. Why Atiku is crying out now is because the table turned against him.

The issue is to embrace who we have and lets move nigeria forward.

I just want to drop this before i go, if those challenging the result of the INEC are new set of political minded people with a view to moving this nation forward i'll agree but its still the same old wine in new bottle.

Most of them have nothing to offer.
For instance what criteria has Atiku, to have the believe that he could have won the presidential election or Buhari.

Its hightime we don't let ourself to be ruled by emotion.

Go to Adamawa today and sample peoples opinion about Atiku. Non of them contesting the result is a saint.

Lets embrace Yar'adua and move Nigeria to a greater height.

I am not a politician but i support reformation and thats the only way to make a better nigeria

Nigeria for Sale!!

Wanted! Highest Bidders to buy Nigerian treasures and valuables before May 29th handover! As this government continues to showcase its desperation and kleptomaniac tendencies by senselessly auctioning the nation's huge wealth, with "holy man"-Nuhu Ribadu religiously watching and applauding, we suggest that the 36 states, Abuja with all Nigerian citizens be placed for 'AUCTION' as well in the World Market!!!

You lied on third term, AC blasts Obasanjo

He also bungled a golden opportunity to rid the country of corruption by proposing the removal of governors and deputy governors' immunity and retaining his because of which the governors fought back and killed the proposed constitutional amemdment. Now we know what he was up to; PTDF, illegal withdrawals from the federation account, etc.

Reforms: Obasanjo Didn't Carry N/Assembly Along –

Reforms: Obasanjo Didn't Carry N/Assembly Along – Nnamani

There was no reform programme in the first place. Lawlessness and insecurity, etc. became official government policies and these suited its agenda of looting, vote rigging, etc. Chief Bola Ige, about the only cabinet member that meant well for the country was promptly eliminated because he "refused to chop", i.e. join the looting spree.

Emergency business tycoons emerged among those close to government houses and conflict of interest lost meaning. To enable their sons and sycophants justify their ill-gotten wealth, our refineries were crippled to allow for near-total importation of petroleum product requirements of a major crude oil producer nation and continue to pay about N600 million daily subsidies to the importers long after we were told prices went up because government was no longer subsidising.

For eight years import duty was waived for selected individuals and not all players in some sectors. Some industries are now being monopolised with Nigerians paying 419 prices to criminal captains of industry. While this was going on, our public enterprises were being shared out among PDP members in the name of privatisation.

Public education was intentionally crashed to pave way for even near illiterates to build private universities with looted public funds. Roads and other public infrastructure were budgeted for annually, but neglected while the votes ended up in private pockets.

Security has never been messier and yet the president remanied the commander-in-chief and chief security officer of the country. Whenever there was breakdown of law and order, he simply blamed others and yet held on to his security vote that runs into billions of naira which he does not account for.

Niger Delta became a conundrum while the people's money (13% derivation fund and NDDC) was being shared with the presidency and PDP bigwigs. The president looked the other way while looting went on, preferring to be commissioner-in-chief and commission project sites (bush), commencement of site clearing and all sorts of things. He even commissioned projects that indicted him, such as non-functioning independent power plants in the Niger Delta when he had the responsibility of providing power to the whole country.

We have never seen this bad. Our president was all-wise and infallible, but what we saw was a wild combination of ignorance and arrogance resulting in total madness. Today, nothing works in Nigeria. What programme would one make out of this?

Honorarium to Adhoc Staff

The INEC is a thief compare to what has been paid to its adhoc members. the SPO i.e. supervisory Polling Officer were paid 75,000 while the Presiding Officer and Assistant Polling Officer were paid 10,000 and 5,000 Naira respectively. This is after working for 8 good days without sleeping at home. what a shame to the government with the huge money expended on the election. all the people there are thief except something is done to it.
