RE: Gods

I think one of the best arguments against creationalist theory the age of our sun and solar system. Our sun was 'born' in a nebula like every other star and there were countless others already formed before ours. Do you think God created us billions of years after the rest of the universe like some afterthought? If that's true, then He needs a PDA.

RE: Gods

This is why religion should not be discussed. It is impossible for the human mind to comprehend anything that is more complex than itself. It would be similar to a couple dogs sitting around, trying to figure out what you do all day and where you go when you leave the house. There are infinite more possibilities than the few presented here or anywhere on this planet for that matter.

Everyone is responsible for finding their own truth in life. Nobody can tell you it. Following the dogma of religion or athiesm will only shield you from the answers they claim to present.

No comments on becoming a pirate?

Unlike dragons, pirates actually existed.

Dole, your philosophical babbling is making me twitch. Isn't that what Star Trek is for?

RE: Gods

That twitching you are experiencing is just your brain overloading. It just doesn't have the capacity to understand anything that doesn't include a muppet. For our sake and yours, you are better off spending your days inhaling gasoline fumes and chewing on lead.

This message was brought to you by the letter R as in "Dan is a Retard".

RE: Gods

Dragonmaster, if you want to judge religions by the extremists, perhaps you should take a look at yourself. And you wonder why most people think poorly of athiests....

You want to know how athiests think the universe works, Syrgot? I have two words for you: String Theory. Granted, there are some kinks in the more complex parts, but the majority of it is accurate. The Big Bang was simply the collision of two membranes, and the rest is history (pardon the pun). I don't really have time to explain everything at the moment, but if you are really interested in knowing more, contact me via dragonlordals@yahoo.com . I won't be able to explain everything there, either, but it'll be easier than using the chat boards.

As for the whole creationism aspect of religions... people don't like to admit that they don't know something. Since the "profits" didn't know the answers, they just came up with the most logical thing they could think of. I don't think they were wrong for doing it, either, seeing as they could have never predicted evolution and the big bang theories and whatnot.

RE: Gods

I don't think any worse of athiest than any other religious group. They are all blind to the holes in their own beliefs. As you say, people don't like to admit they don't know something and few, if any, athesists are willing to admit that they don't know anywhere near enough to be able to state with any accuracy the real truth behind existance. It is like being locked in a room with a tiny window and attempting to define everything from that view. The funny thing about the creationists and atheists is that they are the same thing, just on opposite sides. Not a whole lot of common sense going on by any of them.

RE: Gods

... I just realized that I spelt "prophets" as "profits" in my last post. Euuugh. I feel like my IQ's dropping to Dragonmaster's level.

No, "Bob," I won't deny that there are things I don't know. What it comes down to is that there are a LOT of things I don't know, and I'm fully willing to admit that. The difference is that what I do know can be proven, and what I don't know I'm still trying to figure out.

If I told you there was a 100% chance of no god existing, I would be lying. Nobody can prove it, and nobody can really disprove it either. I'm simply basing my ideas ("beliefs," if you will) off of what I do know.

But even if I'm right in saying there's no god, there's certainly isn't any direct harm in believing in a god, despite what Dragonmaster thinks.

DragonALS: don't worry about your misspellings, even supposed genius Bob Dole misspelled two words in his last paragraph.
