You're safe. It is interesting that they have evidence that the universe is expanding but they don't have any real good explanation as to why it is expanding like a pancake and not a sphere.

They think it is expanding like a pancake?

CmbSpng,

I absolutely love this line "the message I sent was based on my knowledge, so it is not necessarily correct"

It's so humble, it's so awe-inspiring. Are you god?

RE: Gods

Some do. Others think a sphere, a box, and even branched like a tree. I just wonder what is holding the pancake one down. Maybe the edges of a petri dish.

RE: Gods

Ah that's it.

We are on a microscope slide. That is why we are expanding like a pancake, because of the pressure from the slide cover on us. The Sun is the light on the microscope.

Eeeenteresting.

Yes. Send me some money.

No, put your checkbook down, although if you want to send me some money...

Im not god. Though sometimes I wish I were so I could make pricks and dicks like dragonmaster(bater) (yeah, the insult sucks, but its better than sucks lead.) rot in hell for their supreme ignorance or complete lack of any intellegnce.

RE: Gods

I think its an assumption based on the fact that solar systems, galaxies and galaxy clusters and such gatherin a 'pancake formation'. I think I could find something as to why they do that.

RE: Gods

I don't think we have any reason to believe we are anything less than gunk on a slide under a microscope. In retrospect, there has to be something that big out there that would make our "universe" that small.... who knows.

RE: Gods

Wasn't it at the end of Men in Black where the universe was inside something little?

Who's to say. Maybe our solar system is just a fluorine atom.

RE: Gods

I don't really know if there is a God or not, even as a Christian. Atheists have faith just as much as Christians have faith. As members of the human race, we need to respect eachother's beliefs. That's why so many terrorist groups hate us, it's because we aren't tolerant.

Hell can't be much different from what we're living through in this day in age.

The major problem with today is that we are born and raised in a society that says different things are bad. Russian communism of way back when is being taught in our school systems as if the rulers treated their people as badly as Saddam did. They had a communistically socialist view on utopia: the perfect society. The idea of socialism is great: sharing everything, living in peace, it's all great. The US just blew up the enitire way of life of them after WW2. We didn't sit down long enough to over come the differences and work together to get our achievments. I believe that man could have been on the moon as early as 1965 if we had agreed to work with the soviets. If we had worked with them, and become allies, we could be even more secure with our everyday lives and not even now the true meaning and idea of terrorism.

We'd be like "Hey, Nikita, my good man! Can you get my mail for next week? I'll be in Camp David with the family!" and they'd be like "Sorry, but my wife and I are going to Cuba for the weekend. I wish I could, F.K., but I can't." in responce "That's alright, Castro is just down the block from Florida" and we'd all laugh

But damn those people who think difference=bad news.
DAMN THEM ALL! LITERALLY! SEND THEM UNTO THE FIREY PITS OF HELL.

uh...jk

RE: Gods

oooo! controversial, but a bit off topic. The next time you post, why don't you try reading the post before.

That's a good point. We do think of ourselves way to bigger and better than we actually are. our lives are shorter than a snap. Our impacts may reach up to a wink if you're lucky, like Jebus Christ. We control our destinies for this short of time. It's up to you what you believe. And for us Christians, I hope we're right. To everyone else, I say good luck. Hey, maybe you are right, and I'm giving up for nothing. If you are, what harm did my beliefs make?
And that, my friends, is were you pause to look at yourself in the mirror. Is this the image you want to be cast in the populus of your wink in time, or is it something else. Seriously try that, it really does make you think.

RE: Gods

There is not a single period in history I can think of when things were any different. The book of Revelations is part of a letter sent to 7 cities in Turkey in approx 60 B.C. by John of Patmos in response to Roman treatment of Christians. A good deal of those letters were 'borrowed' from another scripture from 2000 B.C. in regards to another oppression.
