IELTS Sucks

I agree with comments that IELTS test is very, indeed VERY deceptive test! It doesn't test your knowledge of English. It is designed to steal your money!

IELTS

I think the IELTS test is a very good way to assess ones capability of using the English language in both the academic and general training modules. I scored an overall band of 8.5, with band 9 in speaking and listening.
The reason why i did my IELTS, was for applying for the PLAB exam. I'm a British citizen whos about to graduate from a medical school in Dubai... and suprisingly British citizens who study outside the EU are not exempted from sitting the IELTS exam, unlike other Europeans whom are protected under European law need not sit for the exam, even if they havnt exercised their EU rights. If you have any questions regarding the IELTS, mail me, and I'll do my best to be of help.

Thanks

IELTS test

I've not taken this International English test although many of my friends have been there and done that. I don't wanna comment about the style of the exam but one things for sure - I want to try it one day and try my "stock-up knowledge" in english for once in life and then I will let you know what's my experience if it is bitter or sweet.
I have only one thing for the examiners- "BRING IT ON BABY" I love challenges..

ielts evil exam

This exam is the most terrible i ever seen! It is just about money, it is a business! Let think just 1 min...most of the people need 6.5 or 7, and most of the time these people will need 0.5 more..for example me i need 6.5 but i got 6.0...as a result i need to wait 3 months again for just 0.5 points more...and guess what am i doing during these 3 months, i am tacking courses which i had to pay again and again..IELTS is just a business!

stop this stressful and unfair exam

hello, this is nour again, I tried the IELTS test again( this is the 8th time) my score was7 in writing, listening and speaking but my score was just 6.5 in reding. I did not pass, bec the GMC asked me to achieve 7 in each section. Can you believe that bec of missing just 0.5 I have to sit the exam again!!!! I am wasting my time in this selly exam but there is no choice. Iam a qualified doctor and I have exemption from the plab. I am asking candidates in the same situation to appeal aganist this discrimination!! why European doctors can work witjhout doing this test or even the plab while others have to go through this stressful process!!!

IELTS

I got an overall Band 9, March 13, 2004 sitting.

But I felt that the test was unfair in that beyond a certain level, say band 7, it all boils down to " how to beat the test" and so will not reflect liguistic skills but rather test taking aptitude. And although I did get a Band 9 in writing the essays, admittedly quite a subjective issue, I came out not sure how I did, and with a bad headache.

Sujit.

IELTS is A busieness

I tried IELTS 7 times and I could not pass it !!It is impossible to get score 7 in ecah section in this time limited test.
I got exemption from the Plab and I live in UK and communicate very well in English. The people who designed IELTS exploit poor students from overseas. I t is not a fair exam at all. I hope some one read our comments and take serious action about this problem.

band score for speaking

well, i have taken the ielts exam for 2x and unfortunately i was not able to pass the speaking test. you see, i got an overall band of 6.5 and band of 6 in the speaking. for me to get my visa screen certificate, i must get a band of 7 in the speaking. I think this is a very high standard for non-native speakers of english. A band of 6 means that you are a good user of english.is this not enough? i am really confused of how this test works because if you have the statistics of filipinos taking this test it shows that only about 20% pass this exam.i hope that you would make an adjustment with regards to the required band score for speaking especially for nurses going to the united states. i hope that your examiners are aware that for nurses to go to the united states, we have to get a band of 7 in the speaking.
