Naturally the best!

Achtung baby is definitly a CLASSIC album!
Joshua Tree is ALSO a classic!
The new album is fantastic, and a soon to be classic im sure.
But i hafta say, Zooropa is an AMAZING album.

Not all the songs are strong , but the ones that are are VERY strong.
"Zooropa", "Lemon", "stay", 'The first time", "dirty day" are all amazing songs. When i listen to the album, it takes me to a diffrent world. As great as the other albums are, none of them have that same effect!

But i guess it all depends what mood im in. U2 has an album to accomodate each!

The greatest Band of all time

I cant pick up a best U2 album. From Boy to All that... they have managed to put out the greatest records ever released, and with the ability to change sounds, inovate, always staying relevant, one step ahead of the competition.

Not only their music is bigger than life but also their stunning instincts and passion is what makes them the fab four the most influyent guys of our time.
Bono is a living genious as great as anyone ever existed (Miguel Angel, Beethoven, Mozart).I think God sent him to make all of us feel good in this trouble times.
U2 are without a question "The unforgettable fire"
I cannot pick up a best album, but my most moving passage from a song is "Ill see you again when the stars fall from the sky and the moon has turned red over one tree hill" The best piece of poetry ever put into a song. The lyrics here describe exactly what U2 essence has been always.

U2

JOSHUA TREE IS BY FAR THE BEST U2 ALBUM THAT THEY HAVE EVER PRODUCED AND IF YOU DONT THINK SO THEN YOU JUST DONT KNOW U2. I MEAN LIKE THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD SONGS ON ALL THEIR OTHER CD'S AND THAT'S NO JOKE BUT OVER ALL IN A COMULATIVE GROUP OF SONGS IN AN ALBUM IT'S DEFINITILY JOSHUA TREE!!

My take on the entire thing is....

WAR for me was U2 at their best.

I mean, relatively speaking - Joshua Tree was by far better packaged and every one had synthed into their respective groove. Yet, I started off on War as a U2 fan and total loyalist and I was all of Eight years old when I heard it for the first time - that was 1988, and hey it's Jamaica so things tend to get chronologically out of order here I heard Boy and then Joshua Tree after that, and I still had to hear WAR again. This pattern replayed itself with each New Album release, and I still hjave to have my WAR fix.

ALTYCLB is really tight stuff and I can never ever stop being a true U2 loyalist never ever. I like the fact of these guys just doing their music and doing well - you know, no bull****. Yeah they have fun, and what's wrong with that. They really live and they really rock really Rock.
I also appreciate Bono's efforts, it's like I knew all along the guy is a guy but he really is a Human being trying to make time here better for those he can touch. That is excellent. The band as a whole has my true respect for their ethic, work and spiritual, and for their willingness to experiment nad push the envelope. I hear that they will be in Mexico City and I am going to try and make that concert, or die trying. Peace and love.

The Best album from the Best band...

Here's what I think...

Achtung Baby is the finest example of guitar playing I've ever heard. Need evidence? "Until the End of the World"..."One"..."Mysterious Ways"..."Even Better Than the Real Thing"...and last but certainly not least, "The Fly" (If Bullet the Blue Sky's incredible guitar solo was on this CD, it would walk away with the title of greatest guitar record ever). Musically, Achtung Baby is the best album. However, as we all know, U2 is a great band not just for their music. Which is why the spirituality, sense of longing and social activism of "Joshua Tree" makes that the greatest CD of all time. Need evidence? Edge's haunting guitar intro and climactic finale, Larry's pulsating drum rhythm, Adam's infectious bass beat and Bono's passionate voice make "With Or Without You" the greatest song ever. I think the entire album, from the eerie intro to "Where the Streets Have No Name" right through to the horror-filled lyrics of "Mother's of the Disappeared", Joshua Tree rises above the crap put out by most other bands out there. I could listen to Joshua Tree all day and be moved every time.

I love all the other Cd's, not just the two biggest commercial hits. The techno 90's of Pop and Zooropa were fun and groovy (I think I'm addicted to the opening for Discotheque), and the punk of the early 80's in Boy and October was awesome, (especially when their Christian values leaked through). War is the most underrated album of all time (try listening to Sunday Bloody Sunday or 40 without wanting to heal the world's wounds), and I love it. ATYCLB is perfect for what's going on in our world now (In a Little While is the best love song of all time), Unforgettable fire is really good (especially Bad. Oh baby, is Bad ever good!), and I enjoy Rattle and Hum more than probably anyone (Desire makes me want to be in a rock and roll band), but there is a reason that Joshua Tree was the fastest selling CD in history.

When I listen to Their Greatest Hits (1980-90), I can't believe how difficult it must have been to come up with their top 14 songs from the decade (15 if you count the hidden one at the end, October). I think they should have included Bullet the Blue Sky, Gloria, Sort of Homecoming, and 40, and left out When Love Comes to Town, though. I can't wait until U2's next album comes out. If it's as good as Joshua Tree, which would be very difficult, then I'll eat my hat.

"These days run away like horses over the hills."

ACHTUNG BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to the poll it seems that the Joshua Tree is leading. BUT how many of us have really listerned to Boy or War. I think when deciding on a best U2 albulm one must not only take into account the success of the albulm but also at message that the band tries to get across and how well it satisfies it TRUE FANS and not just the COMMERCIAL JUNKY! When i voted for the best albulm, it was a tough one because they are all are special in different ways. However my heart went with Achtung Baby. For me it had alot of meaning such as the whole reunification of Berlin. Achtung Baby is one of those rare albulms where every track is brilliant. When u really think about it , the Joshua Tree only has 5 tracks which are worth listerning to.

BOY

Although Joshua Tree is the best album in terms of success and the sheer amount of classic tracks, my personal favourite is BOY.It has such a unique sound , so raw and naive. It reminds me of all the feelings of changing from a child to an adult, and this feeling of realisation is imitated in the music with its experimentation ; vocally and with the awkward drum beats and screeching guitar solos.Even though it doesnt have political content like WAR or a romantic feel like UNFORGETTABLE FIRE it is still emotional and very haunting. Its overall sound is punk and i would love it if U2 could go back to this style some time although i still like the other styles they have tried .They are definetely the best band of all time.ROCK ON U2 !

U2 - Joshua Tree

there are many best and great albums from the Dublin City boys... different moods and situations can envoke various reasons why one song or album may be the choice of the moment. In many ways the layers of emotion go beyond the songs themselves... however, for the purpose of a phenomenally produced recording, I have to say that The Joshua Tree is a Masterpiece. It is up there with Dylan's Blonde on Blonde, Floyd's Dark Side, the Beatles White Album and Zeppelin's PG. JT has soul; it is alive with the blues, traditional Irish, spiritual, rock and roll and it even has a touch of country . I would take this recording with me to a future life.

The Best Album

I grew up with U2 and listened to them from their first album through to their latest.

I absolutely adored the Joshua Tree but I think that although their best songs are on this album, I think that taking the whole album into account, All That You Can't Leave Behind, track for track, is the strongest and best album they have done. I think for a group that's been going as long as they have, to come out with such a well written innovative album is quite remarkable!

I have many favourite U2 songs, but I think the best however is Red Hill Mining Town from the Joshua Tree - I just love a song with a good story.

Boy was their best.

U2 is the best band around today and has been for years. But get real people "BOY" was a masterpiece, a unique feeling, and sounding album. "BOY", "WAR", "OCTOBER", and "UNFORGETTABLE FIRE" all had that early sound that is by far the best. Their latest album is a really good one, but it ain't "BOY", I think a lot of you need to listen to their earlier work, it is the best music ever made, rock on Bono!

the greatest band ever

If i am feeling down, all i have to do is put in U2:The Best of 1980-1990. Songs like "i will follow" and "where the streets have no name" leave me with a smile, and a wanting to pick up my guitar and dance. Thank you U2, for more than two decades of uncomparable poetry and music.

Rock and Roll Doggy

My favorite ablum of U2??? leaving me to only pick one is unfair. U2 is the best rounded, fullest band there is. to be able to put albums out like "Zooropa" and "Pop" and critically take some hard hits for them and then come out with masterpieces such as "All That You Can't Leave Behind?" could any band out there right now be able to survive what they survived? I couldn't think of anyone! I loved "Pop," I loved "Zooropa," as well as every other album they have released and i will love all the other ones they release from here on out. I can't, as a fan, pick just one favorite album.
