Boy is punk, October is Christian rock, War is Angry Rock n'Roll, Joshua Tree is Gospel, Rattle & Hum is the Blues best encaptured by a non-blues band, Achtung Baby depicts Heart of Darkness, Zooropa is the Outer Reaches of the Psyche, POP is Nineties Relativism beautifully caputured in sound and ATYCLB is all captured in one. The common element is SOUL (i.e. 'reveal not conceal') and the central metaphor is LOVE --> all that you can't leave behind. Their music is poetry. |
