Ken Griffey Jr. is a living legend!

I lived all my childhood years in Tacoma, Washington, and I can remember when I first heard of the name, Ken Griffey Jr. I stll own the very first card I recieved in a 1990 Topps pack. I have really studied his playing, and I can tell this year, that when he is healthy for a period of time, he is among the elite in the game. It took a month for him to get his grove, look at his stats since? Does nobody remember he led the league in Home Runs last year until shortly before the All-Star break? Apparently not. Griffey will retire with almost 700 home runs and over 2000 RBI's. Mark my word. Ken Griffey Jr. is a living legend.

800?

Ken Griffey Junior was the fastest player ever to hit 350 home runs when he did it. (A-rod has that now) Had he stayed healthy his whole career, 800 home runs would have been very realistic. But anyone who thinks he will hit 800 now is crazy. I'm a huge fan, in his prime he was the best player ever, winning 10 consecutive gold gloves. But the present KGJ is a "good" player due to all of his injuries. I'd be surprised if he ever hit 650.

Junior will get 650

If Griffey stays healthy (which he has this 2005 season) he is capable of hammering 32+ homers a year and driving in 95+ runs

600 Homerun Club

In a couple of years, Griffey's name will be mentioned with Aaron, Ruth, Bonds, Mays and probably Sosa, as members of the 600 homerun club. Mlb.tv has given me the opportunity to watch Jr. every game, and let me tell you, he is far from done. His instincts for the ball in centerfield are still amazing, his arm is still so strong and accurate, leads the Reds in RBIs and doubles-with half of his doubles bouncing up against or off the wall. You have to remember, this is a guy playing with three screws holding his hamstring to his leg bone.
If Jr. can stay heathy and put up the kind of numbers he is putting up this year, he will be closing in on Mays' HR record, 2000 RBI's, and 3000 Hits by his career end.
Lets pray for him to have a heathy and successful rest of career!

Wow

Griffey is starting to make me wonder with his injuries whether he will be able to break the records he once was on track to do. He has since fallen off track. Look at the Griffey Jr. of like 1995 compared to now, he was an all-around better player back then. He is still a great player, my all-time favorite for sure. All of the collectibles out for him are awesome and i collect as many as possible.

griffey the greatest

im so sick and tired of people saying that griffey should go back "home" to seattle. he is home, this is where he learned to play the game not up in the moutains. i went to the same high school as him played on the same field, saw his and barry larkins jerseys in the locker room. heard the legendary stories of griffey hitting balls onto houses some 530 feet away from home plate. have tapes of my dad playing FOOTBALL against griffey in practice. no one in the upper north west can say that. this is where he is supposed to be and this is where he should stay.

The Purest

Growing-up near the San Bernardino Spirit Ballpark at Perris Hill Park, I was witnessing one of the purest players ever. Living only a couple blocks from the park, I witnessed Jr. prove his talent at a young age. Let me tell ya, there was nothing like a walk to the park. What a awesome guy and role model!

Since then ('88), he has evolved into one of the greatest all-around players off all time. Playing one heck of a center-field, and beating the crap out of the ball, he is the purest player to ever play the game. Jrs. love for the game will drive him to unprecedented statistics at his carrer end.

Junior will get the respect he deserves once the steroid situation settles. I will not mention any names, but it is clearly evident some of these big hitters are using the drug. My respect for these guys has sure gone down. Lets get it cleaned up, and we'll see who the pure players are.

If Jr. can have another 5-7 healthy seasons he will conquer the 700 mark. Lets pray for him to have a healthy and successful rest of carrer

pure swing

being from seattle and lucky enough to have seen Griffey grow as a ballplayer it makes me so happy to see all these chumps getting busted for steroids. i think when this whole mess is over people's opinions are going to be seriously changed about guys like Bonds, Sosa, and McGuire and i think people should look back at a guy like Jr. whose homeruns were always the product of a technically perfect swing. personally, if we find out for sure about these steroid users i don't think they deserve any credit for their numbers and there homerun records--let them pay for their mistakes. yeah, the mlb hasn't tested in the past, but taking steroids is still cheating even if it hasn't always been monitored. i think the pure hitters in the game are gonna come out on top of this, especially a guy like Jr. i think we all know if Jr. hadn't struggled with injuries we'd be talking about him breaking Hank's record right now, not Bonds! Keep goin' Griff you're the real deal...

Home Runs

I think JR. will hit more then 650+ homeruns unless he keeps on getting hurt I mean he has been hurt for the last couple of seasons and if he can get on a team that has a spot for a DH then he really can hit 650+ homeruns. But he needs to dtay healthy to hit 650+ homeruns.

I'm the last guy aswell

For all you clowns out there who say if he keep splaying and getting injured he won't make it into the hall of fame (that Tony guy from espn, Jim Rome and just about all sports illustrated writers and figure heads). Give me a break. He's in just with 500 it doesn't matter if he playes till he's Julio Franco's age and finishes his career with a .200 average. 500 puts you in expecially since he was as young has he was when he did it. In the future look for Griffey to win Comeback player of the year and at least one more MVP. No lies.

Not Sure?

I don't think Griff will hit 600. Bodies as they get older and more injury prone don't just turn around and heal majicly. He is about to turn 35 and he's just getting hurt to much. His only option is to do what all team are doing with their bats. moving them out of high injury positions into a low injury position. 1st base is JR's last shot at 6 maybe 7 hundred if he's luckey with his health. I have heard about his training regime now his health has faded and that he came into camp this year in the best shape he has been in since 97 but the age has to be a problem. One other possiblity is a trade get him back into the AL and let him DH. Sorry Natti but we want him to suceed more than we want you to.
P.S. I lied, there is one way to put on muscle mass at 35 and become injury free. Ask Barry.

Back to the AL

I have been a huge JR. fan his whole career (and I live in MN). It is sad to see how the injuries have hurt his career. We got a small glimpse this year of how potent Ken can be at the plate when he was somewhat healthy for a couple of months this year. I have no doubt he would have almost 200 more HR righ now if it was not for the injuries. I think that if he is going to have any shot at 600 he has to move to the AL so he can finish out his career as a DH. How about the O's or the Rangers or something. He could knock out another 100-150 in 5 years as a DH.
