Posted By: Ezemeka Jonathan Posted On: Sep 14, 2008 Views: 1012 | Man power development Enugu State A way Forward. For some of us who grew up in Nigeria and are privileged by circumstances beyond our control to live outside the shores of Nigeria, it is painful and frustrating when we see and hear about the poverty in our country from foreign news media. It is more painful to me when I begin to consider the little resources available to a country like Taiwan where I live and how far they have gone in terms of economic development, man power development, security and sound democracy. From the very moment I stepped into this country in 1998 I started to ask myself what is the secrete behind their success and how we can tap from their method to improve the lives of our people. Our govt. in Nigeria invests so much on infrastructure while here they invest so much on manpower development. It is when these men and women are fully developed or inspired they can now join the govt. in infrastructural development. I thank God we have a new leadership in Enugu state which is all inclusive and to me personally that is another form of man power development. Enugu state is peculiar because it is the regional capital of former eastern region and a home for higher education which is what the easterners are known for. Traditionally the people of Enugu state have always seen education as the only means to escape poverty unlike other igbo states who are very good in trading. It is on this background I make my conclusion that the biggest problem facing any govt. in Enugu state is unemployment. Every year thousands of Enugu State indigenes graduate from higher institutions across the country only to come home competing for very little vacancies in our civil service. I believe it is a critical problem that requires critical solution. Enugu State can be a pilot project that can open the eyes of other states in Nigeria to join forth. The only way we can solve this problem is for our govt. to invest a certain percentage of our annual income to promote small and medium scale industries. For example if our govt. can create 100 small and medium scale industries annually with a capacity of employing between 5 to 20 people, that will create at least 2000[two thousand] direct job opportunities with more than 10000[ten thousand] more indirectly in terms of supplies and sells. You can begine to imagine the big blow this will give to unemployment in the next ten years if well managed. The only way to achieve this objective is for the govt. to liaise with the banks, after providing the machines and land. The machines and the land will act as collateral that will enable the banks to guaranty the loans to the beneficiaries. These companies automatically belongs to the beneficiaries once the banks have certified their completion of payment which may be 5 to 10 years depending on the agreement with the bank. These small and midium scale industries must involve the ones that produce basic things which our people need on daily basis. As a citizen of Enugu state I have tried my best to communicate this idea to some friends in govt. but they are more concerned about inviting foriegn companies coming to build factory here in Enugu.I have even promised to help source these machines and even provide technicians to train beneficiaries. A foreign company might spend 100million US dollar to build one factory which can only employ 50 persons at a time while with the same amount the govt. can create 20 small scale industries able to offer at least 2000 direct and indirect employment to Enugu indigines.Examples of these industries include-: [A] WIRE INDUSTRIES [1] Wire nail making machine [2]Roofing nail making machine [3] Horse shoe nail making machine [4] Shoe tacks making machine [5]Rivet making machine [6] Bolt making machine [7] U nail machine [8] Machines for U nail with notches [9] Barbed wire making machine [10] Concertina/Razor blade wire making machine [11] Bucket/ Paint can handle making machine [12 Cotton bale wire bending machine [13] G nail making machine [14] Key ring making machine [15] Spring making machine [16] Safety pin making machine [17]Hexagonal wire netting machine [18] Cain link fencing machine [19]Universal wire weaving loom [20] Welded mesh machine [21] Wire drawing machine [22] Welding electrode plant [23] Wire straightening and cutting machine [24]TMT/Ribbed/Deformed wire straightening machine [25]Wire butt welding machine [26] Electroplating plant B SHEET METAL INDUSTRIES [27] Expanded metal making machine [28] Corrugated [Roofing] iron sheet making machine [29] Rib corrugating machine [30] Perforated sheet making machine [31] Rolling shutter strip making machine [32] PP caps making machine [33] Round can making machine [34] Drum and barrel making machine C PAPER INDUSTRIES [35] Paper corrugated sheet and box making machine [36] Angle board/ Edge board/ safe corner making machine [37] Paper cone and tube making machine [38] Exercise book[Ruled Note book] making machine [40]Calendar Rimming machine [41] Paper cutting machine D INDUSTRIES [41] Wax candle making machine [42] Marker pen making machine [43] Chalk stick making machine [44] [Pastel] Crayon making machine [45] Mini vegetable oil making machine |
Posted By: Izuchukwu Anyichie Posted On: Dec 22, 2007 Views: 1137 | Ilochi Okafor, please leave Osile Alone If you are travelling from Onitsha to Awka, about 10 km from Onitsha, you look to the right you find a huge bill board with an inscription "NAUOSIL' This is a product of criminal deceipt crafted by one professor Ilochi Okafor the UNIZIK VC for land grab in Osile community of Ogbunike. Well, he has ferrocious tools like the judiciary and Awka Police command at his disposal. He uses them the way he wants like arm robbers will use their AK 47 rifles. One day God will hear the cries of the people of Osile beckoning on Him for justice. At this time there will be no hiding place for all the evil doers of the land. Ilochi get ready for the day of the Lord. |
Posted By: Izuchukwu Anyichie Posted On: Dec 22, 2007 Views: 1081 | Osile Ogbunike crises When a University VC condescends so low as to employ fraudulent means to snatch land from uneducated natives and peasant farmers, one wonders what this country especially Igboland is turning to be. The truth is that these days men and women who have no iota of intergrity stray into the elite academic community. And in the era of academic laziness, professors are spinned out (through promotion of course) like pure water packaging machine. You go to libraries to search for their research work as a reading interest you cannot find any. Of course you cannot find it. The guys are in the villages fighting area boys over land matters. Most of the time they want to use their influence in the society to illegally grab land. Then the area boys stand up aginst them. In a situation like this how can they bend down to do research? Thay are never experts in any field except land grab while their counterparts elsewhere work to make the Nobel prize list. NAOSIL is claimed to belong to UNIZIK. But it is known to belong personally to the VC and his cohorts. |

Let us learn from advanced democratic countries, the duty of the opposition is to counter-balance government decisions by arguement when necessary and bring out the truth so that the nation makes the best choice of policies and execute thebest programs that can advance the country. But let it be advised that government give the opposition the respect they deserve, not seeing them as enemies and by paying their salaries in due time so that they don't become beggers and corrupt. And this goes for the well being and progress of the nation. |

And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss future. Kennedys viewpoint keys into the fact that people cannot change the past but can do something equally important - change their perception of the past. Ofeke or what do you call yourself. You open your mouth and called your former President an IDIOT?. I pitty you. Freedom of speech does not mean stupidity. May God forgive you for you know not what you are doing. |
Posted By: TOFF Posted On: Aug 6, 2007 Views: 1064 | re: NOCHO--Obj Writes Semester Exam Every body can tell you he/she is sure that Obj is selective in everthing even in his choice of knowledge, acceptance of truisms and respect to reality. In the case of enrollment into the NOUN, that move was advised by his careful study of Pastor ADEBOYE'S church account books, that he decided to take on theology; to graduate and oust Adeboye in a coup d'etat and take full control of the church's finances. Easy money. Insatiable. Unhinderable. Rev. Pastor Matthew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo, the only God's annointed servant(God has been dining on same table with him, even b/4 he left sankhoh in 1998)has discovered another fastest way to the Goldmine of duping Nigerians---and that is religious Hypnosis. When he becomes that prophet in white robe, the demon will not forget to globe-trott inviting all his fellow demons like he did with FESTAC. This time, they're gonna come as godly christian crusaders and friends with fellowship in thanksgiving |

Posted By: EJIOFOR ALISIGWE Posted On: Aug 6, 2007 Views: 1032 | LEAVE NIGERIA IN A ROT AND GET THE IGBO TO FIX IT Yet again a stalwat Igboman in the revered person of Dr Alex Ekwueme were called upon by the farce that is PDP to come to their rescue and sort them out again! From the onset it were the man Ekwueme who with other like minds got together and formed PDP which actually metamorphosed from the then G34. Obasanjo was light years away somewhere languishing in penury and true to character must have thought like he is wont to that G34 was an act of treason which is what the assumption is against any dissenting groups and orginasations in Nigeria. But lo and behold, Obasanjo not to disappoint as a low-land gorilla bullied and butchered himself into the herd and took over- the herd scattered and never to be whole again reeling from bad-blood, backstabbing, suspicions, distrusts, hatred, ethnicity, blood-letting etc. The evil cloud seems to have disappeared but still lingers an ill chilly wind blowing at all political scape revealing mutating heads on the slain Hydra. Now, that's where the Knight in shinning armour rides in again with his characteristic sword to do the mythical snake in. Mr Ekwueme will succeed like all the Igbo men and women in government- Onye kwe Chi ya ekwe, and with this in mind the Igbo will walk through the valley of death fearing no evil to archieve whatever they set their mind to. Chukwuma Soludo has done a miracle with the Nigerian banking system which no other CBN Governor has been able to do in the history of Nigeria and her banking. It needs a creative mind, intelligence and very good sense of duty to archieve that. It cannot be archieved by ethnicity, favouritsm or false accounting. We are leaving in a global village where we have to prove ourselves on what we specialise in as of qualification. Professor Dora Akunyili has done what no man could ever do in Nigeria by stamping NAFDAC as a respected and acclaimed brand on the lips and minds of the world. By that archievemnet she has received over 300 awards from every corner of the world. Mrs Akunyili is a Nigerian but works with the Igbo spirit of Onye kwe Chi ya ekwe, which bearing in mind believes that anything is possible and can be archieved. Mrs Okonjo-Iweala came, saw, conquered and before you could say, thank you, the desructive politics of Obasanjo got rid of her to keep his kleptomania well under the carpet where it has been as it were. Still it did not stop Mrs Okonjo-Iweala being an Amazon in the conscience of the nation till date. Ezekwesili reformed Education and whatever else it pleased the government at the time yoked on her. Onye me Chi ya etinyere ya aka. This is the life and belief of the Igbo. This is why the Igbo is a very competitive people and demands fair play and to live and let live. It's ironic that it is the Igbo who are good enough and repeatedly brought in to mop up other peoples mess in Nigeria and set the record straight once again before being dumped, but not good enough to be President of Nigeria or aspire to be the head of all the top security posts in Nigeria. Senator Ken Nnamani revolutionised the National Assembly. He was diplomatic, approachable and followed the rule of Law and the Constitution, unlike Obasanjo who flauted the Law at every given time and turn and still does not obey the law. Ekwueme will sort out the mess that is PDP but it will not get him the presidency niether will he seek for one. His silver hair speaks volumes for him alone and the Igbo in him will always make him a good brand sort after when the rot stinks in the polity and PDP. |

I could not resist from saying something about the " Yohoo boy" of this forum concerning the so called achievements of OBJ. Mr Sheriff, you must be sending your contribution to this forum from your base on planet Mars for you to face well meaning Nigerians with this garbage. I have only one thing to tell you and that is, " You are so full of ****!!" and please take your stink elsewhere as we do not need it here. |
Posted By: Amadi Posted On: Aug 6, 2007 Views: 1065 | Meditate "So let us regard this as settled: what is morally wrong can never be advantageous, even when it enables you to make some gain that you believe to be to your advantage. The mere act of believing that some wrongful course of action constitutes an advantage is pernicious." "A man who has in mind an apparent advantage and promptly proceeds to dissociate this from the question of what is right shows himself to be mistaken and immoral. Such a standpoint is the parent of assassinations, poisonings, forged wills, thefts, malversations of public money, and the ruinous exploitation of provincials and Roman citizens alike. Another result is passionate desire - desire for excessive wealth, for unendurable tyranny, and ultimately for the despotic seizure of free states. These desires are the most horrible and repulsive things imaginable. The perverted intelligences of men who are animated by such feelings are competent to understand the material rewards, but not the penalties. I do not mean penalties established by law, for these they often escape. I mean the most terrible of all punishments: their own degradation." "Find out just what people will quietly submit to, and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress." |

Posted By: NOCHO Posted On: Aug 6, 2007 Views: 1050 | Obasanjo writes semester exam The ex-president appealed to Nigerians to always strive for knowledge, saying, there is no end to learning. No end, no age limit, no position limit, no question of I am too busy to learn. You can always learn something. For instance, you can learn about Agriculture, you come to me and I teach you how to do it. SUN Agriculture teacher indeed!!! Yet, apart from your Otta farm, agriculture everywhere else in Nigeria is dead. Professor in Agriculture, yet you couldn't do more than just make cassava noise for 8 years. I can see that the practice of your knowledge like the justice system you headed for 8 years is selective too. |
Posted By: Aggrieved Nigerian Posted On: Aug 6, 2007 Views: 1009 | EFCC antics and charade It's really belly-aching to note that some people in Nigeria are above the law of the land. Why must James Ibori be tried in London, whereas others are facing their trial here in Nigeria. EFCC is beginning to play their usual selective game again. Justice and fairness demands that everyone should face the same standard of law. EFCC should dare anyone indicted for abuse of office and crime with equal yardstick, and Nigeria law should prevail in Ibori's case. Nigerians are not interested in hearing that Ibori was the sole financier of Yaradua, otherwise the integrity of Yaradua himself is called to question. Nigerians are eagerly waiting to see other ex-governors (remaining 27) being brought to face their charges no matter whose ox is gored. Even the 'emperor" Obj and Atiku should not be spared. They're stinking to high heaven in corruption. Ribadu, do something urgent before you earn the anger of the waiting masses and that of God. |
