It is a plus to speak many languages. However, in Nigeria's case, Igbos speak Yoruba and Hausa not only because many do business or were brought up in the region, but because of the psychological spill over effect of the civil war. Soon after the civil war, many of us denied our names, language and origin in other to survive. And to survive, Igbo man had to appear to hate his Igbonness in order to please winners of the war. This was done to the satisfaction of the North and the Yoruba.But sadly, years after the war, continued marginalization of Igbos made what before could go for a feigned denial of Igboness, a real self hatred for some Igbos. This is because the Hausa/Fulani and the Yorubas successfully made it appear that Igbos suffer because of self inflicted pains. That any Igbo man suffer because he is Igbo. Consequently,many Igbos devotedly denied their origin. Igbos were politically powerful initially. This the Hausa/fulani and their Yoruba chameleons feared and equally succeeded in manipulating-because of the oil-the oil producing Niger Delta against Igbos. It worked. Therefore, Igbos in Nigeria speak Yoruba and Hausa today partly because it is necessary to communicate in order to do business, but most speak because they want to be accepted by Yoruba and the Hausa. It should not be so. World over, people whose language are studied and spoken by non native speakers are naturally proud. This is because it is assumed-though not stated- that those who learn other languages are inferior to the people they learn their language. Rushians, Chinese, Germans etc know this; the reason why interpreters are available in an international gathering to interpret Chinese, Russian etc languages to the audience, even when the leader of any of these countries can speak good English.This they do to show national pride. For instance in the UN, Obasanjo or any Nigerian president has no choice but to use English to address members, while a Russian president, French president or even Libyan president will address the audience through an interpreter, yet they speak good English. Yes, English is adopted as a standard language for international communication, but that is for the ears of many African countries. USA has own type of English. USA was once a British colony. Here in Nigeria, it should not surprise any body therefore to hear a Yoruba man say that because we hate our language, we speak Yoruba. They say so because they are proud that the "less of the citizens" in Nigeria are struggling to measure up to first citizens- Yorubas and Hausa- by speaking their language. And not from the perspective that being multi-lingual is advantageous and equally a show of talent.This is the simple truth. The reasoning is that Igbo language is not spoken by others because we are not important to them. This is,again, the truth. It takes what-and more- of what Gov.Peter Obi is doing to redirect our mentality to assert the worth of Igbo man through our language. One, not all Igbo state governors could have Governor Peter Obi's drive. Depending on the success of the program, other Igbo states may or may not follow suit. Two a lot of Igbos are scattered in Nigeria doing business, training Igbo children in Yoruba, Hausa language dominated schools. In those schools, I doubt that Igbo language is thought. One of the reason I shout Biafra to any body that has sense is because of what Nigeria has done to the Igbo language and to the Igbos. I once wrote that if Governor Peter Obi were to be the president of the Republic of Biafra, his "suwakwa Igbo' initiative could have been a national policy. Under this circumstance, our sovereignty as Biafrans will protect us from unnecessary external distractions.Under this circumstance again, every Igbo state would be expected to pursue the program with vigor. Therefore, what to do to ensure survival of Igbos and Igbo language is to separate us from Nigeria, as a child is separated from the mother by cutting the umbilical cord,period. This could take a very long time to get the import registered in the minds of many Igbos.

'Kaita' can be used in place of words like Jeopardy, Hinder, Sabotage, Disrupt, Antagonist, Fool etc. The word can be used like; dont Kaita what we have been building for 11years in one day, dont be a Kaita etc.....

Regional interest being the first factor to determine who should be president is an eye opener for those who have not fathom the fact that ethnocentrism is the first problem that jeopardizes the existence of Nigeria. I have always said it , over and over that the north destroys Nigeria and that the north will cause the disintegration of Nigeria. The north does not understand modern democracy,meritocratic politics, supremacy of a nations constitution, patriotism and nationalism. The north only understands archaic islamic doctrines,coup, squandermania of niger delta oil money and ethnocentrism. Nigeria is likely to have another civil war because the northners are islamic deluded and power addicted.But this time western world will play a different role because of northnern islamic extremitism and the oil down south. But I am afraid that Yorubas will still play the same role they played in the last ethnic impasse. Whatever happens, the end point will be to your tent 0 Israel.
