RE: Look here

Your post makes perfect sense. Too many union people have had it too good for too long. All the union slobs that have gotten fat off the button pushing jobs over the years will be gone within the next 10-20 years. My questions is when the unions wages and benefits are gone and labor costs are brought under control, will it lead to resonable prices on the cars their selling. probably not. They'll just keep making them cheaper so they won;t last 5 years. Either way the union slobs will see what it's like to acually have to work for a living.

One More GM-UAW Comment

Another comment from SodaHead.com:

The price of an American car is too high, and we consumers will destroy the unions. We will not pay $15,000 for a Chevy Cobalt, it's just not worth it. When I see all the Toyotas, Hondas, and other cars made better, and cost less, I'm going to purchase a Honda. When the cars made by GM come down in price, and quality improves, then maybe I'll buy an American car. Unions will die, that is a fact, that's why all these manufacturers are filing for bankruptcy, and going out of business. Soon GM will go under, along with the other two auto makers, and Toyota, and Honda will buy them, and kill all unions. No one is guarenteed a job, and we the consumers will see to it, that unions are wiped out. It will happen, and sooner than you think. I've heard membership has dropped in unions, and they no longer have the power they once did. It's too bad, union workers will be on unemployment very soon, we consumers are'nt going to pay for the crap coming out of American factories anymore. Sorry guys your high pay and benefits are in the hands of the American consumer, and with the economy in shambles, you're jobs will soon be GONE. I can see a day about 3-5 years from now, the uaw will be dead. RIP

These comments are words of wisdom, yowza!

Union Comment re GM-UAW

From SodaHead.com:

There was a time for unions in this country, but that time has passed. Unreasonable demands over the past decades have put new car prices out of reach except for the union workers themselves and whatever is left of our old time American middle class.

I WAS a UAW union worker for GM at the old Fisher Body plant in Livonia MI. for ten years between 1970 and 1980. I'll never forget my first few days of work. I sewed interior parts for Pontiacs. First day on the job, a gal who had been there for a while and others kept telling me to slow down so I wouldn't upset their precious production quota. Can you imagine that. A month or so later when I still refused to go along with the slow down crap, I was physically threated by a lady who was the shop steward.

Since I had a year of college and could read and write, I asked for a transfer into the data entry pool. GM gladly paid for my training and encouraged and rewarded my work ethic until I left to become a stay at home Mom. By the way, when I left I was making 3x as much as my girlfriend who had been teaching school for 9-10 years. That's just not right and I am at least willing to admit it.

TIMMY

All good points but the fact that Keane is a career politician should be reason enough to vote for Collins

Keane vs. Collins

Some good points on the CO exec race, here's my take:

- no one wants essential services cut, like snow plowing. But there are most likly non-essential services that can be cut, like stated those that the majority pays for but never use. Get rid of those jobs, since County employee compensation is it's biggest expense, more than even the Medicaid burden.

- also, other non-essentials can be cut to bring taxes down. Why does the county subsidize the BPO and ECMC. The county shouldn't be in the orchestra or hospital business.

- if the BPO can't turn a profit, it should shut down. No complaints here.

- it's common knowledge that ECMC employees cost around 33% per hour more than the employees at the Catholics and Kaleida. One of the stumbling blocks in the merger talks.

- Collins is the one that can help. With Keane taxes will go up, that's for sure. How will that help create jobs, unless you're talking more public service union jobs. That doesn't fix the problem, it only makes it worse.

- If Collins can lower taxes, new business will be attracted to this area. And there does seem to be many ways he could do this.

Collins gets my vote

Opinions

I'll let the union know-it-alls stick to the opinions. But my opinion is that your a f-cuking kunt who takes a weblog way tooooo serious. I could really give a f-uck about unions--they don't bother me one way or another. Sometimes their good sometimes their not. Thats REALITY--maybe not union mentality
