IBB insults the Yorubas on Abiola

"Immortalize MKO Abiola, IBB tells FG
By UCHE USIM
Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has called for the immortalization of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential elections, Chief Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola, describing him as the man that fought tirelessly for the enthronement of democracy in the country.

Fielding questions from aviation correspondents in Lagos, Monday morning, Babangida, who is one of the contenders of the 2011 presidency, said MKO Abiola deserved all the goodwill, calling on the government to immortalize him in the best way possible.

“I think it is good at long last that somebody is trying to acknowledge the efforts of Chief MKO Abiola. We cannot deny him the fact that he fought for democracy and I am glad that the government is accepting it. In addition, I want to see a situation whereby he will be immortalized as a person who fought for democracy in this country."

IBB is a shameless fool to use Abiola, whom he virtually killed, to seek political relevance!

He thinks we Yorubas a damn fools! This mis insane! Who's listening to this idiot!!!

He has suddenly woken up to remember Abiola? Oloshi!!!

This shows that this man is sick and has no conscience!

If this man thinks that Yorubas have short memories, then he's really really dumb!!!

Do you blame him? He has billions of stolen nigerian money to buy sychophants!!!!!
Shame on him!!!

REP:Peter

I from delta state and a Biafra before Nigeria.

Yes,i want the best for all Nigeria and black nations as a whole. My brother,Nigeria are messed up country,no doubt about it.We are hated all over the world even within.A yoruba will tell you that all the arm robbery in lagos are pepertuated by the igbo but i told him the arm robbers that were caught in my locality were yoruba.A yoruba will say he would be the last person he would rent his flat to igbo man.But what he fails to realise is that it is only an igboman that pay as much as 500,000 to a chalet called 2 bedroom flats.no yoruba man can pay such amount.so,that left him to rent his house to the same igbo man he swore never to rent.Last time when he was complaining about Hausa bastardising Nigeria and i replied him that yorubas support Hausa that is why they seem to be powerful and Hausa alone wot be able to dicdate to the whole Nigeria and his reply shocked me.He told me that he doesn't like and trust Igbo people. That they are too cunning and greedy.I didn't bother to reply him back because i know that his how he has been brain washed by his people. This is a man that hav been living in Uk for more than 18years.

Bro,what is am trying to say is that to form a Biafra nation, everybody would be really convinced that they can actaully do it no matter the resistance.Ask yourself, would kalu be willing to join in the struggle? What Nzerribe?Utomi?Olumelu? Many more.I will very wish to have our own nation because of the treatment we get from other tribes. How do you explain this nonsense made by some tribes that Igboman will never run this nation. Is that not a prove to say we can go to hell?

For us to have a Biafra nation,a refferamdum has to organised wher it would be decided which tribe will join us.If a kwale man says he is not igbo,he is free not to join.If ikwele man says he not, that is his choice. If bini says he is,then he is free.appointment into political and other post has to be on merrit and on zoning and quota system

When my inheritance is involved

I am an Igbo man by nature. Providence has nothing to do with my existence as an Igbo man because my biological parents are Igbos. I am always proud to be identified as an Igbo man. Even as my age is not old enough to wear “Isi Agu” title dress with a red cap, I always wear them each time I am traveling very far away. This is to show how much I love to be addressed as an Igbo man.

The salient issues on our hands at the moment are the followings.

1. To sensitize our youths as a matter of urgency to embrace hard work as the only way forward for a better living
2. To rebuild the bridges linking the entire Igbo nation that was destroyed by our detractors through fallacies.
3. To encourage our people to start investing heavily in Igbo land so that our youths will no longer be jobless after school.
4. To Join hands with the security agents and flush criminals and corrupt politicians out of Igbo land

I always add a wry smile on my face each time I hear people defending “One Nigeria” project. Questions the pro “One Nigeria” group has consistently avoided are the followings.

1. What is stopping the Hausas and the Yorubas from investing in Igbo land?
2. Why must the Igbos die in their numbers any time there is crisis in the North?
3. Why cant a Nigerian contest for an election outside his state in Nigeria?
4. Why must the Igbo be given 20 pounds no matter the amount you have in the bank before the war?
5. Why must the Igbos contribute money to build roads, hospitals, schools, electrification projects while the Federal government is in existence?
6. Why must an Igbo man travel all the way to Lagos or Abuja before catching an international flight?
7. If Nigeria is one! Why must the presidency rotate from the North to the South?

These are few of the many questions I reserved for pro One Nigeria group to answer.

Until now, the government is politicizing the second River Niger Bridge.

Anambra and Delta state shall provide 20% while a private company shall provide 60% of the total funds. The private company will be allowed to mount a toll gate until (who knows) the year they will finish collecting their dividends. Anything in Igbo land is not a business for the federal government and when I talk of Biafra some people will engage me with a flimsy argument that is better to be a captive in Nigeria than to be a freeman in Biafra.

The only answer I have for such people is the bellow.

The blood of over 3 million Igbos that died during the civil war will never have rest until justice is done on their behalf.

Only the living will fight for the dead to get justice.

Only those alive today will fight to secure justice for those that are coming after them.

I do not believe that the Northerners will ever stop calling an Igbo man “Nyamiri”.

I do not believe that a Yoruba man will ever stop calling an Igbo man “Omo Ibo”.

These names have things in common with hatred!

Those that are searching for reasons behind Nigeria backwardness here comes an answer to your questions.

Nigeria is cannot move forward when hatred exists among its people. Obafemi Awolowo wanted to be a Yoruba man before being a Nigerian. Such evil seed is the reason Nigeria remains a baby after 50 years of Independence. The latest rotational arrangement under PDP is an eye opener for the wise.

I love peace but not when the only way to achieve it is until I give away my inheritance.

Good talk Stan

Great Stan.
I couldn't have put it better.
I have a feeling Peter is my Kinsman; a fellow Delta Igbo.
Here we see the identity crisis at play in another dimension.
He is not sure where he belongs.
In one breath he is all for one Nigeria.
In yet another he is not averse to Biafra.

Great talk Stan...I think this captures the argument...

"Have you not heard Yorubas asking Igbos to go and invest on our own land? How else can Hausa man say to you, go you are not wanted, if not by killing and destruction of Igbos and our properties?"
-Ichie Stanley O.

Our people easily get carried away by the rubbish of "One Nigeria" trumpeted by those whose only reason for One Nigeria is their economic hegemony and the oil in our backyard.

On another note we must strive for the unity of Igboland.
I just checked a piece of Information Amadi Worgu gave us here and found it to be true.
The Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Jos branch is an Ikwerre man.
The Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo Potiskum branch is also an Ikwerre man.
Immediate past Chairman Ohanaeze advisory Ccouncil was the late Chief Francis Ellah an Omoku man( Ogba) from Rivers state.
Slowly but surely we will get there.

Peter M,
I will be able to provide an example of countries I have visited in Africa that are doing well. Nobody cursed Africa, maybe your perception is reflecting negatively in your daily life. Let’s assume that you woke up from the wrong side of your bed today before writing your latest submission. I will get back to you when you try to prove me wrong in your next submission.

"Outside the whole world hates Nigerians.
Inside the hatred is directed towards Ndigbo" Ezinwanne.

Peter M, you call me bro? Ok. Read the quote above. What does it tell you?

I have read some of your submission in which you labor very hard to sound reasonable. That's good. It appears you were cut off guards those moments you wished Nigeria breaks up peacefully.

I'll try not to read meanings into your motives. But I think your questions are not necessary. Let me answer you though. I have put nothing on ground to ensure that what is happening in Nigeria wouldn't repeat in Biafra. What I have on ground is this medium, and other contacts I have to spread the message of Biafra. If you are an Igbo man, refer to the proverb that says " a space of land must first be secured before haggling for the mat to place on it" I hope you can interpret that proverb.

Now, this question goes back to you. What are you doing specially to stop the rot in Nigeria? I'll help you. You are inviting Igbos to work together with God knows who to build Nigeria. Havn't we done enough? Chronicle the events of the war, the 20 pounds story, the imbalance against the Igbos in the military, the police, federal civil service, customs, NDA, etc. Think about the killings of Igbos and destruction of our properties. A people who are not discouraged to invest in a country that wasted their blood, deserve to be listened to when they say enough is enough. Have read what Pat Utomi said once of Igbo's investements in other parts of Nigeria? Yes, Pat UTOMI. Have you not heard Yorubas asking Igbos to go and invest on our own land? How else can Hausa man say to you, go you are not wanted, if not by killing and destruction of Igbos and our properties? Are you deceived by the words of the people who are so scared to lose what they stole from Igbos after the war that they swore to frustrate all our efforts to freedom? Naturally, many Yoruba men won't want the status quo to change. Few of them who think it ought to change, are roundly condemned by their fellow Yorubas.

Who cursed black man, Peter? Is that mental state not worse than the one that seeks independence and self determination? Do you know if sovereign state of Biafra is going to be the only nation capable of debunking your myth of a cursed black man?

We do not need all Igbos to be angels before moving into Biafra. In many developed countries 20% of the people, at the most, are the brains behind the countries' development.

A nation is built with passion. You can talk of building Nigeria from now till the next century, it won't make any difference in Nigeria. And you've actually said that yourself: "To create a nation, everybody wil actually wants it and should not be forced into the throat of people."

If you think that applies to Biafra as it affects you, that's exactly how it applies to Nigeria as far as many Igbos are concerned. You are not being forced to join Biafra. However, you need not borrow words of our detractors.

Note: No body is bent on forcing you to join Biafra, get that right.

Hatred within and without

Racism And Nigerians In Diaspora

By Paul Arhewe, Online/Foreign Editor
DAILY INDEPENDENT

Last Sunday another spate of maltreatment was meted out to some Nigerians living in Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. This latest incident, like some past ones claimed the life of a Nigerian, while 32 other foreigners, mostly Nigerians were arrested.

The unfortunate Nigerian, Maxwell Itoya died of gun-shot injury, after police raided some Nigerian traders selling shoes at the bazaar at the Stadium in the Praga district of Warsaw. Maxwell was trying to intervene in the case of Police arrest and brutal treatment of another handcuffed Nigerian when he was shot in the stomach. Max, who had lived many years in Warsaw was legally married to Monika, a Polish woman, and has three children, aged 10, four, and two.

While Nigerian government through its foreign ministry has called for immediate and full inquiry into the killing of her citizen, Polish police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski said his country’s prosecutor’s office has already began investigation into the assault against a policeman, and would determine if the policeman had broken the law by firing his gun.

However, the Polish police was quick to give the media another version of the same story reporting that the ill-fated Nigerian was running away from patrol team, and was chased into the market place, where the policeman handcuffing him mistakenly shot him when mob protesting his arrest tried to besiege him. Even if this version is true, resisting arrest shouldn’t be a justification to take the life of a foreigner, especially in a highly racist country like Poland, where such incident would definitely be associated with xenophobic outburst. In Nigeria, hardly would there be an incident of police brutalising white foreigners; even though the Nigeria police are good at brutalising their own countrymen.

Definitely, it is expected the Polish police would have to defend themselves and blame the protesting mob. Sokolowski in defence of his colleagues said "This man could have been saved and police officers started to resuscitate him, but they were repeatedly attacked with stones by a group of foreigners and were forced to defend themselves, and had to stop the resuscitation". In civilised society of which Poland belongs, tear gas is usually used by police to disperse angry or protesting crowd not live bullets? If the victim was to be Polish citizen I dare say the police man wouldn’t shoot him to death.

A Nigerian named Caesar living in Warsaw, who claim to be an eyewitness to this deadly act in the marketplace, said the Polish police are usually brutal to blacks, and highly segregate against them. According to him, “this is the latest in a long line of police abuse and brutality towards blacks in this predominately racist country”. “The open air market place, which is referred to as Stadium, is made up of mainly Ukrainians and Vietnamese traders, but the biased report would have you believe that it is only Nigerians that were arrested and causing problems”, he added.

While the police and government should be apologising sincerely, they are busy prosecuting the 32 arrested foreigners. According to report, 25 out of those arrested would face charges of assaulting a police officer, which when found guilty would send them to prison for 10 years.

Nigerian government should do more than calling the Polish authorities to probe the case, like in previous similar incidents. Our government usually make statements, after which no further deliberations or actions are taken. Nigerian government, through its embassy in Warsaw, should follow thoroughly every phase of this particular probe.

Nothing has been heard again on Emmanuel Egisimba’s case. Egisimba died last year in Chinese town of Guangzhou after trying to avoid police brutality. He jumped headlong from a second floor shop and died. Hundreds of blacks’ after the death of Egisimba protested calling Nigerian government to intervene in the frequent maltreatments and molestations they face in this Asian country.

In another similar case, in 2008, a Nigerian businessman, Ojide Ekene, was said to be descending the steps leading to a subway metro station to look for some place to urinate when the security men accosted him and began to beat him. He was allegedly hit on the head with heavy iron battens, knocking him to the ground in a pool of his own blood.

But the Chinese consulate had said that Ekene fell on the staircase of Yulong building as he tried to run to urinate, adding that in the process he got a heavy hit on his head. Many of such dehumanising cases come up frequently, but Nigerian government usually do little to address them.

The frequent brutalities and xenophobic treatments that Nigerians are made to suffer in Poland, and other racist countries should be properly addressed, and their governments should be held responsible anytime such ill-treatments occur. The bland and indifferent attitude these governments have put up in addressing the frequent and continuous maltreatments of Nigerians in their countries has prompted their police to have a field time in this intolerable act Nigerians are made to pass through.

While these foreign countries hear news of those brutalities Nigerian police melt out to their citizens on daily basis, they tend to see our citizens in their countries as trash that can be maltreated knowing full well Nigerian government would only make noise and cannot bite anytime such ugly trash happens.

Our government usually dream of making Nigeria to belong among the leading 20 economies in the world, one wonders how this tall hallucination and mirage of a dream would come to reality when the same government have little value for her citizens especially those in foreign lands.

Unites States can sacrifice huge resources in order to rescue an American in distress no matter where the challenge is coming from. Last year, when some Somali pirates hijacked a U.S. ship and held its American captain, Richard Phillips, as hostage the US Navy immediately diverted its guided missile destroyer, Bainbridge, and successfully rescued Phillips alive after keeping watch on the pirates movement for days.

Poland is among the less-developed countries in Europe. One wonders, supposing our country is well managed by our past governments and leaders, what would Nigerians still be doing in a society that overtly shows they hate them. I believe they would in drove be returning to their fatherland. As the popular maxim goes ‘no place is like home’. It is then a task on Nigerians and our government to ensure things work here in order to prevent such beastly treatments our brothers and sisters are made to pass through in unfriendly countries. While, waiting for that time to come, our government need to show it cares and values her citizens no matter where they are reside."
........................................................................ ........................................................................ ...

Outside the whole world hates Nigerians.
Inside the hatred is directed towards Ndigbo

Babangida and the Southwest

Jide my man,
It appears you have run out of invectives against Ndigbo.
Now you have resorted to cheap blackmail using Babangida’s entry into politics.
However bear it in mind that Babangida launched his recent bid for Presidency using the structure and resources of the government of Ogun State.
I must doff my hat to the Yoruba.
They are skilled in the art of causing confusion and then looking around for whom to blame.
Otunba Gbenga Daniel using the occasion of his birthday, bankrolled and supported by the instruments of the state; invited General Ibrahim Babangida as the special guest of honour.
As the day wore on it became crystal clear what the birthday celebration was intended.
It was intended to launch Babangida’s bid for the Presidency!
Yoruba speaker after Yoruba speaker eulogized Babangida although they were remarkably guarded in their utterances.
Still, the message could be discerned.
They were appealing to what was left of the Yoruba progressives to sheath their sword and rally behind Ibrahim Babangida.
Of course the reward clearly was vice Presidency for Gbenga Daniel.
It didn’t stop at that.
A league of Yoruba Professionals based in the USA has also joined the fray. Infact Ekiti state is now the undisputed stronghold of Babangida for President.
The turn around is almost complete.
Save for a few almost inaudible voices led by Prof Wole Soyinka, Yorubaland could now pass for Ibrahim Babangida’s fortress.
Yet, our brothers still look maliciously towards the East to identify supporters of the ex dictator whom they have cleaned up and made presentable to the Nigerian public.
What an irony

Heybro, you always harp on having a nation of yours and that that. How are you so sure the Biafra won't be worse than Nigeria?Which plans have you place on ground to check and present what is happening in Nigeria not to happen in Biafra?Remember our people have not shown any kind of exemplary altitude apart from few.Remember the problem is not Nigeria but her people that consist of Igbo,Hausa,Yoruba,Efik, tiv and many more.Yes,we need our nation but we should ask ourselves, are we really sure and ready? It is easier said than done. What is happening in Nigeria is blackmen curse.JUts tell me which black nation is doing well and be counted as first or 2nd world country?

So,let us work together and make nigeria a better nation.Writing here won't creat a Biafra nation. To create a nation, everybody wil actually wants it and should not be forced into the throat of people.

RE:free nigerians detain in kurdistan with anyoffe

Nigeria must be divided.

This is the most meaningful topic to me. We should be concerned how Nigeria has become a waste for years without end in sight. Nicolas is in pains about Nigerians detained in Kurdistan. What Nicolas did not know is that the name "Nigeria" criminalize any Nigerian before a foreigner until that Nigerian proves otherwise. For the detainees in Kurdistan, one can only wish that more humane officers handle their case.

I have stopped wishing that Nigeria could work because it dawns on me every day that it could not. Nigeria can't work, simple.

How can Nigeria work? Just recently, I find myself in an unavoidable situation working in a group with a Yoruba man. It is rare to find a Yoruba man who is different from the other. The work was stalled because a Yoruba man was only interested in leadership position, and not to work. This is typical of what is going on in Nigeria.

Igbos are considered nobodies in politics because we have been made to survive through hard work. Nigeria made Igbos almost indifferent to politics. We were pushed to hard labor. We were pushed to labor for others to consume.

No! We want our own Nation. We want a nation where we play politics of hard work, and not politics of consumption.
