Yoruba Stand

It is very difficult to understand where Yorubas belong.

This powerful race sometimes is very fluid when matters reach a head.
When a race as prominent as the Yoruba cannot be pinned down to a particular behavioral pattern, then there is absolute danger
Their leaders have as a matter of fact abandoned Awoism and embraced reactionary politics as typified by PDP.
Several weeks ago, there was a tame attempt to form a new Socio-Cultural group from the ashes of Afenifere which clearly had lost focus.
There was as expected a great deal of loud talk, posturing and genuflections on the altar of the deity Awolowo.
Since then the silence has been deafening.
Save for the sporadic voicing of opposition to Ibrahim Babangida’s bid for the Presidency; the Yoruba political stand has largely remained unknown.
Perhaps the shameful performance of their son Olusegun Obasanjo while in power has sealed their loquaciousness.
It is amazing that nobody is holding Yorubas responsible for the near destruction of Nigeria in the years from 1999 – 2007 through their vile son Olusegun Obasanjo.
To this writer, even the civil war period did not do so much damage to the entity Nigeria as to the carnage wrought by OBJ’s misadventure.

The Yoruba religious inclination is also befuddling
Though careful study of religious adherence among the Yoruba would reveal that between 55% - 60% of them are Muslims, their allegiance to any particular religion is highly questionable.

The Yoruba is highly visible in all three major Faiths: Islam, Christianity and Native African Religions.
The major Pentecostal and Orthodox Churches are all led by Yoruba men.
Major Islamic movements and institutions are also headed by Yoruba men.
The Osun festival – a celebration of local Yoruba deities has also become and international event.
The ordinary Yoruba on the streets also belong to all three religions.
On Friday you find him in the Mosque.
On Saturday, he is present at the Osun idol groove
On Sunday, he bows his head down in worship in a Christian church.
Yet another emergent group typified by Wole Soyinka is atheist.
All these go to portray an ethnic nation that is as slippery as the proverbial sea creature – the Eel.

As Nigeria approaches a crucial point in its political life, the actions of this prominent ethnic group will determine whether Nigeria survives or not.
The only wish non Yorubas would have is that this sophisticated tribe comes clean instead of playing mischief behind the scenes and emerging to reap where others sowed and to point accusation fingers Eastwards.

NNAEMEKA

My friend, you can see how frustrating it could be telling these guys the truth! The only thing you get in return is name-calling and nobody makes any effort to see the truth.

I am consoled though that the war on the actualization of Biafra is only fought here by OfeKendo, Stanley and sometimes Ezinwanne. The real "Ndi-Igbo"(I hope the correction makes some people happy now) are not even aware that Biafra is still on the cards. That dream died some 40 years ago. So I ask myself many times: are these guys real "Ndi-Igbo" people? How come they at times present a picture of people with less than enough intelligence?

As you rightly advised them, it is in their interest not to make any further noise about Biafra so that they don't deprive ordinary Ndi-Igbo people their benefit in the contemporary Nigerian family.

Those who shout Biafra to high heavens are the real enemies of Ndi-Igbo people. That name - Biafra - does incalculable damage to the ambitions and aspirations the younger ones coming out of Ndi-Igbo land. Same too to the aspirations of Ndi-Igbo career civil servants and uniformed men. I love Ndi-Igbos. This is why I will continue to advise irrespective of what those characters think.

On your remark about the situation in Abia state, I would invite Mr. Ejiofor Alisigwe to go from Ikot-Ekpene to Aba. He will see one of the myriads of achievements of Dr. Uzor Kalu from 1999 to date (yes to date because the man there now is his surrogate). The best thing to happen to Anambra state was the failure of the woman flag-bearer of Orji Kalu's "party" (I have forgotten both the woman's name and that of the "party" ) to win the February governorship election. Anambra people are wiser!

Jonny is still joking

Until people like OBJ, IBB, Tinubu, Agagu, Alao-Akala, Kalu, Chimaroke, etc are brought to book, Jonathan is just joking.
They believe they are above the law. Even if the court is going to go bananas, let them face the music. The selective justice in this country is what is making Ibori shout of persecution. Ibori and the above people should be begging for life imprisonment because they deserve to be sentenced to death by firing squad.

NFF: House of idiots....

“I’m confused by the confession of Lars Lagerback that he does not know much about Nigerian players. How can somebody who does not know much about a player invite him to camp? What are the criteria he used to invite the players since he does not know much about them? the ‘Wonder Boy’ queried.
“I am worried. I still cannot come to terms with that confession. What magic did he use in arriving to his decision on who to invite and who not to invite to camp?” - Paul Hamilton

I said it few weeks back. This man Lagerback crammed the names of all Nigerian diasporan players and their clubs, came to interview and claimed that he knew them all! What a smart move!

As he was mentioning their names during his interview, NFF leaders were clapping and applauding him! Lord help us!!!!

And the final truth: He doesn't know these guys as such!

Amodu has discovered this, and felt that he was unjustly robbed of his post; and he's proving that he knows his boys better!

God have mercy!!! Unbelievable!

Call a spade a spade...

Again, "Nnaemeka" your assessment of Aba is a toss-up!

Aba should have been one world-class city by now, if not for corrupt, greedy leaders!

Why shouldn't Abia have tested governors like Peter Obi, Fashola, ohakim, or Amaechi? These guys are trying, based on Nigerian standards!
In Edo, Comrade Oshiomhole is trying too.

A lot of road constructions are going on in the aforementioned states!

Re:BLOOD IN THE AIR

Amadi Worgu:
With due respect to you, I totally disagree with you that Jonathan should not run for the Presidency under PDP in 2011.

Not only should Jonathan run for the Presidency in 2011, he should (even) remove the ladder to stop others ascending to the post while he is alive. LOL. Bros, this is Africa. Africans don't understand democracy but view it as a foreign word. The North has been in charged for at least three quarters of the period since independence.

Jonathan should change the constitution and become a life President or at least rule for the next twenty (20) years if God permits. The then Eastern region need to catch-up with lost time. Jonathan must use his executive powers and quench any dissent voices. He should put troublemakers impeding his ambition in the cooler like his OGA OBJ did. Patience Goodluck can now go on a weekly shopping spree abroad and perhaps buy more shoes than Imelda Marcus. If IBB, Abacha and others from the North can squander our commonwealth, Jonathan can equally surpass them in mismanagement. As more Nigerians breed like rabbits, the hunger in the land would get worse with acute unemployment. Hopefully, the country would become a failed state and we would go our separate ways. It is only the Yorubas and Ndi Awusa that believe in the so-called One Nigeria. Onye Igbo that believes in Nigeria is either a fool or has not read History books. Victory for the Yorubas is to turn Ndigbo into a minority in Nigeria which they are gradually achieving. You can’t blame them (ndi Yoruba and Awusa) for cunningly marginalising Ndi_Igbo with their One and United Nigeria mantra. Ndi-Igbo must look beyond what is behind the (iron) curtain if they are to remain in Nigeria and be recognised as a nation in hundred year’s time.

ORJI KALU AND HIS LEADERSHIP SERIES

The erstwhile governor of Abia state chief orji uzor kalu has created a collumn for himself in The Sun newspaper titled leadership series. He writes on issues that can earn him the admiration of strangers and sycophants, but not that of his former subjects in the southern parts of the state who know him very well.I dont want to go into details of how he managed to find himself in that office but he was there. Before presenting himself as a saint,he should first go and see how he left Aba,the commercial nerve centre of the state and its environs. He played a politics of sentiments, denying people from that side the dividends of democracy for whatever reason is best known to him.Am sorry to say this, but Aba town may arguably be the dirtiest city in the world.Aba provides employment and business opportunities for thousands of youths and parents. As a commercial centre,it serves all the neighboring states who come there to buy goods in bulk. However the deplorable states of the roads leading to this town makes it difficult for both the buyers and sellers.During rainy seasons traders practically swim to enter their shops. These have seriously had a negative impact on the commercial activities in the city.It was like this before the stooge he used to replace himself in the office. As i write now, crime rate in ABIA STATE has recently become so high that both the civilians and the police are no longer safe.Kidnapping and bloody armed robbery attacks are very rampant occurence.I dont know what he wants to achieve by writing articles in his leadership series when it is very questionable whether he knows the meaning of leadership.Does he think he can become president of Nigeria in the future? Then he must be a big dreamer. Is he trying to quench the fire burning his conscience?Well i will advise him of a better way to go about it.Since he has the stooge in his palms,he either manipulates him to address the problems in Abia south or give him a free hand to lead and stop holding the whole state to ransome.Let him and his stooge go and take lessons from their neighbour, the Akwa Ibom state governor. They should make hay while the sun is still shining.Let them not forget that ABIA IS GOD'S OWN STATE and HE is watching. When his wrath will come, there will be no escape and it will span through generations.A word is enough for the wise.

"NNAEMEKA", you're wrong...

"Nnaemeka", I know you're not IGBO!

I can bet that with every ounce of my being!

No Igbo son or daughter is ashamed of his/her Igboness! You know you're kidding and lying by saying that!

This is the first time in my entire life to hear that!

I have a Yoruba friend who swore that his brother must marry an Igbo lady! To accomplish this he made sure his brother enrolled in a university in the southeast in order to brighten the latter's chances!

I don't like this tribal lies and 'war', and whenever a fake comment gets to my nerves I wouldn't hesitate to shout F-O-U-L!

Many years of deceptive struggle under a failed na

Jide Afolabi has once again changed in the name of NNAEMKA to address the Igbo nation. He quickly reminded us that Ndi Igbo are not united. Interestingly, he scrambled to cajole Ojukwu into an object of sycophancy. He ended very poor that he forgot that my surveillance searchlight tangles with his chameleon colours. The handwriting may look as resemblance of Esau but the voice sounds very much of Jacob.

1. Reading through his surreptitious rhetorics, it is an insult for an Igbo man to address the Igbo nation as Ibos instead of Ndi Igbo. I request as a matter of urgency for the so called (Jide Afolabi) aka NNAEMEKA to tender his apology to the entire Igbo nation before writing further on this forum.

He ended up advising the Igbo nation to be as diplomatic as the Yoruba’s towards our quest for Biafra. Can anyone imagine such a trash?

Let’s assume that the Yoruba’s are the custodian of diplomacy. The clock is tickling towards the Nigerian golden jubilee come October 1st 2010. On that day, Nigerians will be celebrating 50 years of deceptive struggle as a nation. When diplomacy counts, there must be reasons for celebrations. I can only see the Yoruba’s struggling to feed from the left-over of the scavengers. Such cowardice can never be translated as an act of diplomacy.

Not long ago, we use to have the North, The West, and the East as the beneficiary of Nigerian political landscape. Today, the North has succeeded in shackling the West and the East under One Southern political landscape. The North remains indispensable; this is what I call diplomacy. The Yoruba’s can only make noise, but I see no diplomacy in them. All I see in them are acts of cowardice. The Yoruba’s standing is currently on the crossroad at the moment and it can only take the wise among them to search for the black goat while the sun shines. The North can no longer trust them. The Igbos is a no go area, the minorities knows them better after the destruction of ODI and Zakibiam.

The Igbo nation has an agenda. We are not afraid to make our declaration known to the entire world. We said it before with thundering voices; we fought for it with our bloods. We lost our Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters, and properties. We are not deterred, but to continue with our struggle until we succeed.

Those who thinks that Ndi-Igbo are stupid; I have simple questions for all of you

1. Do you enjoy the state of affairs in Nigeria at the moment?
2. You have ruled Nigeria for more years. Are you better than Igbos?
3. Do you think that you can rule someone who is wiser than you and enjoy peace?
4. Nigeria had independent before South Africa. Among these two country which is better?
You may think that Igbo’s are not united until reasons that call for Igbo unity comes up once again.
