The Igbo Spirit

Ofeke Nwanne’m,
The perennial erratic power supply in Nigeria remains a monumental disgrace for the famous “goliath” of Africa. One cannot imagine the numbers of people that suffocates into premature death after inhaling toxic generator fumes. For ordinary Nigerians, life must continue even when there is no hope for tomorrow. For the government of Nigeria, it is looting business as usual even if the masses are suffocating in their numbers, it does not matter as long as the national cake is been converted into their personal benefits.

However, we remain on this forum to discard and equate the journalistic destructive arsenals developed by our enemies to extinguish the remnant of Igbo nation image. Igbos was busy rebuilding the ruins of Nigerian civil war, while the enemies were busy looting everything they can lay hands upon to satisfy their avid for avarice. Such avaricious interests ended up confining Nigeria under it present shackles of penury and stalemate.

Democratization is another way of defining the present day globalization. Most of us have traveled around the globe to know when a spade must be named no matter whose OX is gored. Talking about democratic governance, Nigeria remains a jungle society until those involve in the hierarchy of power prove cynics wrong. I cannot keep my fingers crossed when the government of the day is working to the detriment of my people.

The harbinger of success in every fight for freedom is when the freedom fighters accept to surrender their lives for their people to live. As we continue with our quest for freedom, we shall adhere to all legal procedures as stipulates by the UN in conformity with the legal proceedings of the international communities. We must ignore every temptation that leads to violence during our quest for the sovereign states of Biafra. We have made our declaration known to the entire world, and the entire world is waiting for us to provide a “Non Violence” role model for other trapped countries waiting for their freedom all over the world.

It is our unalienable “Rights” to be free!!!.

In “Aburi declaration” we stand.

Mark Ebele

Who is this imbecile called Ebele?

"""I completely agreed with what Jide is saying. Without an event, there can never be history. The earlier the Igbos forget about the past, the better for them. Forgetting the past does not necessarily means forgeting the lesson/ mistakes learnt from the past. Today you abuse the hasua, tomorrow the yourubas, who will then have confidence in you? Arrogancy cannot win election. I remember sometime last year an igbo chap [ofeke] called Jonathan toothless bulldog and a mere spare tire. Today the same Jonathan is the President. Destiny can never be changed. Let the igbos search themselves and know the real reasons why every tribes in Nigeria are afraid of them. As usaul, I expect internet solidarity of abuses.....Mark Ebele.

Your posting says it all. When did I ofeke man called Jonathan a toothless bulldog? If I Ofeke 1, will call anybody by that name will be you mother ****er. From which of the planet did you pump up from sucker? Do not wake the sleeping lion biko.

Kendo and Ezinnwane

Ezinwannem, how do you get all these info's? I envy you you know? I respect the way you craft and manage your words and sentences. You are one good example of a true igbo son. keep it up.

kendo, I am amazed by your guts. You've got the best of "will power". I am following every posting in here but were unable to contribute effectively like before. I am in Nigeria now with the same Nepa don take light and up Nepa of a thing.

Alisigwe, honesty, Stanley O and many of you guys who call a spade spade. keep doing what you are doing. We will be vindicated some day soon.

As for the Nigeria president JGL. Please be careful because the north and the British will never go to bed and sleep. Remember how Abacha died. Though we will resist any attempt to kill you but, dead people do not talk brother.

Enforcer Is Reasonable

Somadina, Enforcer is not against Igbos. He only quoted Mark Ebere's foolish statement. All your arrows have been redirected to Mark Ebere in my mind as I read your defense from enemy camp.

I expect Enforcer to ignore your slip.

Why Afraid of Igbos

That enforcer should in his innermost being ask himself, WHY DO I HATE IGBOS?. Definitely the answer could be very simple "JEALOUSY"

I challenge him to just mention one attribute why he or anybody should hate the Igbo tribe that could not be found in him, his tribe, his generation yet unborn.

You hate Igbos Eh!, but when the going gets tough you look for them. Allow us have Biafra and after 2 weeks, let us see if you will not change your masquerade name from enforcer to Anumanu just to have that Igbo inclination. Ewu- Ofia!, Onye- iwe ndigbo.

I wish people like you dont listen to your stupid fathers who out of envy for the ability given to Igbos by God told you useless and unimaginable lies against the blessing of Nigeria, the Igbo nation.

Go Listen to Biafra National Anthem, Listen to Biafra Pledge, Listen to Voice from God and blame yourself for being a Nigerian.

NOW YOU THAT HATE THE IGBOS, WHAT, JUST NAME ONE THING YOU CAN BOAST OF NIGERIA IF NOT FOOLISHNESS OF YOUR FATHERS WHO HAS EYES BUT CANNOT SEE, WHO PROFESS RELIGION BUT HATE GOD.

When next they want to count census, for Nigeria to know the number of Ewu and Aturu they have, inform of human beings, you enforcer suppose not be counted, as your type of EWU is no longer needed.

Re: Jonathan and his bowler hat

I do agree with you guys that Jonathan looks ridiculous in those hats. I cannot understand why we copy the wrong stuff(ideas). The Oyibo would be having a laugh at GLJ. This is another waste of Nigeria foreign currency.

Shehe Shagari's reason for corrution.

Mr.Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari, our former president, got the root of corruption in Nigeria wrong. He was quoted as saying that the extended family system is the cause of corruption. This may be true in the north where a rich hausa/fulani person takes care of whoever comes knocking. He buys food, clothes and doles out cash.He spends indiscrimitely. This is not true in the south. The cause of corruption in the south is pure greed. The yoruba person will steal for the immedate family, buys blue chip companies on the capital market, buys propeties in choice areas, with lots of girl friends and probably take the rest of the stolen monney overseas, whereas, the igbo person will steal for his village.Igbo person tends to spread his ill gotten wealth within the community. That makes the difference amongst the category if thieve in Nigeria.

Re: Jonathan and his Bowler Hat

Let us say it as it is, that bowler hat worn by South-South people is utterly un-original and downright ridiculous.
It is actually started as a symbol of servitude to the white colonialists

There are two types of that funny looking head gear.
One type is preferred by the Urhobo, Isoko, Itshekiri, Ijaw and other nationalities especially in the Western Delta.

The other type is worn by Ijoid groups in the Eastern Delta.
Jonathan wears this type worn by Eastern Ijoid groups.
It was Peter Odili who popularized the type worn in the Eastern Niger Delta

The pugnacious Ijaw leader Edwin Clark made the other type prominent.

Each of these hats owes their origin to the Colonial Lords who caused the traditional rulers of Niger Delta people and their eminent personalities to adorn these hats in imitation of the colonialists.
Today it has become a fashion statement for resource control and an identity label for Southsouth Leaders.

Among the Itshekiri and later the other Western Delta groups, it was Nana Olomu, the most prominent Itshekiri chief in history who made himself distinct by wearing this hat atop his Traditional African dress and native Itshekiri wrapper.
This was to impress the Britrish Consul for the Bights of Benin and Biafra (old name for the Niger Delta areas) John Beecroft the wily colonial lord who plotted the downfall of all African Chiefs in his zone of influence so as to extend British rule along the Coasts and the hinterland.
Each time the merchant Chief was ushered into the presence of the consul general, the British officials smothered their urge to laugh at the funny looking African chief.
Nana mistook their barely concealed smirks as a sign of approval for his dress sense.

This ingratiating behaviour did not avert an ugly fate for Nana as he was to run foul of the British who subsequently sent him off on exile to Gold Coast (Ghana).

In the Eastern Delta, it was King Amachree the 1st; Amanyanabo of Kalabari who projected this found fashion apparel.
King Amachree in his bid to look different from the other chiefs, who were contending for the favours of the British, also took to adorning the bowler hat to impress his new overlords.

Generally, the bowler hat atop the Southsouth traditional dress in our era, has become a symbol of identity for the emergent power elite in the Southsouth.
However we must bear in mind that its origin and use sprung up from a decidedly servile mentality.
To me anyway Olusegun Obasanjo's parachute-like robes with its numerous folds provokes more laughter in me than Goodluck Jonathan's servile bowler hat

Jide Afolabi Regrets

Woooh! a lot has been said.

Jide Afolabi, what do you mean by "regrettable"? Please explain further, except you are talking from both sides of your mouth.

As usual, Ichie Ezinwanne, thank you. Our gentle man John(or even Soji Akin/ Tiffany/CN/HONESTY/whatever)asked for info and he got one. Its amazing how after a year or two of Soji Akin's appearance in this forum, somebody named John asked the same question Soji Akin asked. The answers came forth to Soji as it did to John. Funny! These people are still very much around. Soji Akin, Tiffany, Honesty, CN, etc.

Gerald, your new role is not invisible in the forum. For me, I know how you started, and how you are doing now. In any case, those who are not with us,are against us. You are in the field, so play on.

Mark Ebele is a cheap mix of Igbo name with another. Again, Ichie Ezinwanne, you spoke my mind on that. Soon, he'll get burnt out.

This is the dying days of Yoruba's damage to Ndi-Igbo. Although we did not start early enough to defend ourselves from their calculated intention to destroy us, but events in Nigeria will rightly come to our aid as we match on to freedom.

Back to Jide Afo. Are you regretting now that Awolowo murdered Igbo children and women en mass? Please tell us.

Jonathan and his bowler hat

The bowler hat is an antiquated and forgotten aspect of a gentle man's european dress, not to talk of a Nigerian who thinks it is part of a Nigerian traditional attire. Mr. Jonathan looks like a circus clown putting on a bowler hat on an Ijaw traditional dress.Of the fortyfive men and women that attended the nuclear summit meeting in Washinton,DC,in April, Jonathan was the only person who donned a hat on an African,Ijaw dress.

About time Jonathan looked more like an African and, a Nigerian in particular, by choosing any of the varieties of Nigerian caps on his Ijaw traditional attire. Nigerians want to believe that Jonathan is proud of his Ijaw heritage and this is why he wears the Ijaw caftan. The bowler hat is not Nigerian. It was introduced into NIgeria by the slave or colonial masters that came to the shores of Nigeria in the 1500s.Traditional caps from the north, west and the east are well suited on the Ijaw dress,

and Mr. Jonathan will always be an Ijaw man even with any of the Nigerian cap rather than a bowler hat on a Nigerian traditional dress. No european will love Nigerian cap that much as to don the Shagari,or "the labankata",or the Igbo red cap on a european suit.

Mr. Jonathan is an icon and a role model for Nigrians. He should restore African pride by putting on a fitting cap on an African traditional dress. BOWLER HAT DOES NOT BELONG ON ANY NIGERIAN ATTIRE.
