Re:Onyekachi

I have just read your commentary where you called me a "mad man".I was really busy with the project my boss directed me finish due to the urgency attached to it my the customer.
Please even if you were not happy with my comments you should have had a better way of replying me not to be abusive. With your reply I have weighed the sort of personality you posses.
As I said in my commentary I am neither Ibo nor Yoruba and my comments were based on my sincere observations during the senseless civil war where millions died.
For your information Gen.Ironsi was not killed by the Yorubas in Ibadan. To show how good the Yoruba man can be the then military governor Fajuyi told the soldiers led by the then Major Danjuma to kill him also as Ironsi was his guest whom he will not betray. Those wicked soldiers instead of being touched by the singular action but up by Fajuyi to abort their mission went ahead to kill an Ibo man and a Yoruba man.
Can an Ibo man do such a noble sacrifice for a Yoruba man? Many Nigerians them mocked him for his dying with his guest.
Please Onyekachi do your research before pouring your insults.Maybe you were not born in 1966 hence you wrote with such anger or I have been telling those you like the simple TRUTH which you don't like.

Rotation of presidency

I want to ask those who are asking Jonathan not to contest if we are practising a one party system in Nigeria ? What if in 2015 a northern presidential candidate of another party wins the election when PDP has zoned the presidency to the south ? Nigeria has so many tribes , how can all the tribes be satisfied with rotation of presidency ? People who monger for rotation of presidency have allowed their ethnocentrism to supersede their rationality. They are so myopic that they see not the danger in rotation of presidency. The method is irrational, unpatriotic, archaic and highly ethnocentric. It does not invent a transparent meritocratic politics needed urgently to salvage this sinking false ship built by the british. Nigerians should think of an electoral reform that can give us a credible, free, fair and transparent elections and not rotation of presidency.Only such election can produce good governance that we desperately need.

Please northerners allow us to act modern and rational and stop pulling us backwards all the time with your ethnocentrism, archaism and religious delusion.

Almighty Magistrate

Magistrate handcuffs reporter for covering fraud trial, docks him
From GODWIN TSA Abuja.
Tuesday, May 18, 2010

More Stories on This Section
A magistrate in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mrs. Zainab Bashir, on Monday handcuffed a reporter with The Guardian Newspapers after walking out several journalists, who were in her court to cover the case of alleged fraud of N7.5 billion uncovered in a new generation bank.

The action drew the ire of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abuja council, as it accordingly petitioned the FCT Judicial Service Commission (JSC), demanding her removal from the bench.

The Magistrate, is known for her deep hatred for journalists, whom she accused of messing her up some three years ago when they reported her physical assault on her househelp, on suspicion that she was having an affair with her husband.
In the petition signed by the Council Chairman, Mr. Jacob Edi, NUJ demanded “that the continued presence of Chief Magistrate Zainab Bashir on the bench be seriously reviewed with a view to redeploying her to a less challenging area where her emotional capacity will not be tasked leading to her becoming a threat to the public and those that come before her court.”

Journalists, who were in court to cover the proceedings were all embarrassed when the Magistrate ordered them out of her court room.
Screaming with a voice laced with resentment, she announced “if you are a journalist, leave my courtroom. What are you people doing here? What do you want here? It is not allowed. That was how you people messed me up three years ago by reporting falsehood against me.

If you are a journalist leave my court.”
But as the journalists rose to leave, the Magistrate threw questions at them, specifically asking The Guardian Newspapers reporter, Lemmy Ughegbe “what are you people here for?” Lemmy said, “Your worship, we are here to perform our constitutionally guaranteed duty of covering the court’s proceedings.”
Fuming with anger the Magistrate turned to her legal assistant, asking him, “I asked you to clear all these journalists from the court. Why didn’t you do that?”
And the Legal Assistant in response said, “they (journalists) are in disguise. I couldn’t identify them.”
At this point, Mrs. Bashir who was infuriated, ordered her police orderly to handcuff The Guardian reporter (Ughegbe), who was almost making his way out of the courtroom and bring him into the dock.

“Police, get him. Handcuff him and take him to prison. Tomorrow, I will listen to contempt charge against him. I am not a friend of journalists. They have reported nonsense three years ago against me. Let me teach them a lesson,” she thundered.
In a flash, the policeman immediately handcuffed the unresisting reporter and pushed him into the dock. On getting into the dock, the Magistrate ordered that he be taken to prison until the next day.

But as the police made attempt to take him to prison, other reporters went into strong protest, vowing not to allow any policeman take him away from them.

Ritual Church!

Ritual Church! Founder’s body in morgue five years after • Members still worship skeleton
From MUTIU GANIYU, Osogbo

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Has the world eventually entered the “last days” as prophesied in the Bible, the holy book for Christians? Maybe, if the activities of some so-called Christians are anything to go by. According to II Timothy 3-7: “In the last days, perilous times shall come.

The founder’s skeleton

advertisement

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.”

The holy book further states that in the last days, men would have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof and men will ever be learning, and will never be able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The story is hardly believable but it is true that about five years after the death of a pastor, members of his church still worship his skeleton because of their faith in the efficacy of his powers.

To members of the church, late Jacob Adebayo Oladele, who was the founder, Millennium Gospel Church (MGC), remains powerful even in death.

In February 2010, the police stormed the premises of MGC located at an abandoned aerodrome in a vast forest at Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, following a tip-off by the monarch of the town, Alayemoore of Ido-Osun, Oba Adedapo Adeniyi Sapoyoro. The monarch, who said the palace had been inundated with series of allegations of high-handedness and weird worship style of the church members, led a team alongside the police to the church where a purported skeleton of the church’s founder was recovered.

The police arrested 15 suspects while people of the town warned the church members never to return to the land, which belongs to the government. Sunday Sun gathered that five of the suspects are still standing trial at an Osogbo Magistrate Court. Members of the church however insist that they are not ritualists and never killed anybody or performed any ritual in the church.

One of those standing trial, Mrs Florence Oluwaloni Oladele, who is the deputy founder said: “We are not ritualists. We worship our Lord Jesus Christ like every Christian. The skeleton belongs to our founder. Truth shall prevail and we will be vindicated. This is a test of our faith and members should be steadfast and more prayerful.”

Head, Pathology Department at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECHTH), Dr Akinwumi Komolafe, confirmed the presence of the skeleton in the morgue, but said the police did not present a request for tests to be carried out on the skeleton. He said the hospital authorities would keep the skeleton until it receives further directive from the police.

It was however gathered that some of the church members have been visiting the mortuary in order to worship the late founder who they described as their Messiah. “Before stopping them from coming to see the skeleton, some who came were practically worshipping the skeleton. They rolled on the ground, shouting his name, weeping, wailing and appealing to him to answer their prayers. They are fanatical about him and if care is not taken and the skeleton remains in the mortuary more than necessary, they may go wild and take steps to recover it. The mortuary needs more security,” a source at the hospital warned.?

When contacted, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Solomon Olusegun, said the “case is in court.”

But a police source said: “The skeleton may soon be released to the members since nobody had come forward with a claim that his/her relation was missing.”

“Apart from the skeleton, police did not find any other human or animal part at the church. Initially, we were made to believe that more bodies were going to be recovered from the church like that of the infamous Okija Shrine. None was found apart from the skeleton. However, all theories pointed to the fact that the skeleton belongs to the church founder. You know how fanatical some people could be with living or dead founder of their faith.

“The skeleton will soon be released for burial. At least, the man should be allowed to rest in peace. We still appeal to people who may have contrary information about the church to volunteer it to the police.”

At press time, police authorities were in confusion over what to do with the skeleton even as the hospital management anxiously awaited the collection of late Adebayo’s skeleton for burial because according to them, “the mortuary is meant for dead bodies and not skeleton.

The best solution to our problem on this coming presidencial election is to allowed a competent, liable & deserved person to emerge on the sit. Let us do the right thing so that peace wil rain in Nigeria like anyother country around the word. If it's PDP,ANPP,AC,APGA or PPA that win in the coming general election, let us give it to them and see what they are going to do for the development of our great country instead of wasting our time depending on PDP for the past so many years that they have been ruling. Please, let us all fight for the country development and our Almighty God wil surely help, assist & fight for our great country Nigeria

Having read through your write up concerning janathan contesting for the next election.Truelly, you reason like a sensible man.If only he could solve one or two Nigeria problems and if he decides to contest election,he would win in a landslide.Nevertheless,if he decides to run for the presidency, one thing i quarantte you Gerald is the full support of all those people advising him not to run the election.Everybody is looking for to chop.

Okay, let assume it is the North turn to produce the next president, who do they have in mind? The Northern people that have shown interest and if i feel those are the one that the north actaully desire to run are Atiku and IBB.So,is it not better that janathan should rather be the president instead of those northen crooks? If that is the best people they can produce for presidency, then they should forget it.

If i were Jonathan,he should be very bold.He should streghthen EFCC and reform the electoral system. He should appoint a very uncompromising and fearless Igbo man as the EFCC chairman and give him the power to arrest and prosecute any looter starting from the past 20 yrs.A speed-up justice system should be applied. Then anybody or candidate for the presidency should be totally instigated. He should declare his asset, source of his wealth, his sporsor and also their sponsors source of fund.If they are found wanting in anyway, they should be diqualified at once and put in jail and baned from politics or any government post for 30 years.Let me then see how Atiku or IBB or other looter will dare contest it.I tell you, that is the best way Jonathan will be the president come 2011 because virtually all contester would go to jail.

I am advertising to be Jonathan political stratigist.

GERALD

Don't read comments upside down, and go on attack!....Gerald

If you consider a simple response to your upload as an attack, then I pity your Education! you sound as if Rome was built in a day! The nation was ruined in fourty nine years, yet you want GLD to perform abracadabra in one year. What an irony! you went further to compare the degradation during Murtala which can best be described as degradation in terms of arithmetic progression to this present degradation of geometric progression. The avalanche degradation of both eras shouldn't be a point of reference, because they are too different scenario. The problems of Nigeria are just to compounded to be addressed by GLD in one year, so let GLD be! as ealier stated, heaven will not fall if GLD decides to contest, even when you decide to go over to mount everest with a white robe and a staff to match predicting like a prophet of doom, still heaven will not fall! so keep your predition and prophesies to yourself!

Anonymous, GLJ's golden moment is now...

Anonymous, if you love someone, simply give the person wise counsel!

When the time comes, I'll remind you of my predictions.

Jonathan is very very free to contest! Why not? But is that the best thing for a wise man?

Ebitu Ukiwe decided to resign his VP position(no Nigerian has ever done that) under IBB because he refused to swallow IBB's crap!

One person was mentioning "Dim", as if she hasn't heard and read that Emeka Anyaoku (1st ever common wealth secretary) has been constantly wooed by the nigerian political establishment, but refused to bulge!!!

GLJ's golden moment is now, and he should avoid distractions and use this one year to endear himself to nigerian citizens first, north or south! People are no fools! They are the ones to clamour for him if he delivers now!

In Lagos, for instance, opponents who threaten Fashola with impeachment are very cautious because of Lagosians, who admire the man's leadership qualities! You see what I'm talking about?

Let's not fight over this issue. All I'm saying is: if Jonathan is wise, he should concentrate all his efforts on this one year and deliver! How long did Murtala live? Man, you don't need a zillion years to make an impact, period!!

That's why Nigeria doesn't have many charisnmatic leaders! They want to remain in office forever before making an impact! At the end of the day what do you find out? The treasury's been looted!!!

Don't read comments upside down, and go on attack!
