Diaspora

I would like anyone who have access to the government or any of the legislators to please help me forward this bill to the government of Nigeria.

""Any parson from Diaspora who wishes to come back to Nigeria to participate in governance must,
(1) must prove his citizenship of Nigeria by birth or naturalization.
(2) must prove his or her residency of their adopted country oversea.
(3) must get a police clearance duly signed by the government of his or her country of naturalization.
(4) must prove his or her income for the total number of years spent in the country of his or her resident, example, employment letter, income tax statement and banking information.

The reason for the above bill is to help Nigeria government, get the right professional who can contribute to the governance of Nigeria in a positive way.

I have have cases with a lot of Nigerians in this part of the world that do not have any meaningful means of income, yet they want to participate in the governing body of Nigeria. These are people that drive the best of cars without any source of income.

As I am writing this article, we have a lot of these unproductive kind of people scattered in both state and federal legislative body. With them in the midst of uninformed opportunist in the government, Nigeria will never move forward. He who spent 25years in abroad without anything to show for it, then 419 himself to the affairs of the state or federal government of Nigeria will have nothing to offer than to loot the treasury. Fortunately, he or she will become a billionaire over night.

So,for those of you in this forum or visitors, who have access to the Aso-rock should please help me forward this my bill.

I am ready to go – Kupolokun

Good riddance of bad rubbish. Nigerians won't miss you one bit. With Obj and you out, a solution to the Nigerian energy crisis is on the way. You inflicted so much harm on the nation.

Olubadan bars Adedibu, 12 others from politics

While deviants must be tamed, we must do so within the limits of the law. The Olubadan has no right to bar a chief from politics. The most he can do is to strip him of the chietaincy title if he is no longer worthy of hold it. This is how the last eight years turned into madness; from one illegality to another. At the end of the day, lawlessness became an official government policy. This just has to stop.

Re:NICOMSAT needs N50b for telecom services

I also read the story this morning in guardian, saying that I was disappointed is an understatement, not really with NIGCOMSAT but with NCC which ready to give the licensee to the highest bidder even if that will mean every other Nigerian going to hell.

I was putting my trust in NIGCOMSAT to finally make internet services available to the populace like their counter part in other parts of the world, while people pay as low as $20 for unlimited access to internet, Nigeria own na wahala , getting internet services in normal country is wetin person fit do shap shap and cheap. Let it not be that NCC with their desire for kick back will become a hurdle abeg una.

NICOMSAT needs N50b for telecom services

We've started again. When NICOMSAT was launched, we were told of huge savings the country will make. Instead of the savings, we are now talking of N50b additional cost.

re:Emeka (Moscow), Leadership

The crux of the matter is that a people, nurture, elect, select, appoint, decree, ordain, invoke, conjure, etc, a leadership they DESERVE; consciously or otherwise.

Which is why i will rather focus on the FUNDAMENTALS.

Nourish the horse, for it is he that pulls the cart. Promote ye first the right values, and every other thing, including good leadership, will follow.

Finally, there are several (or potential for several) Putins, Rawlings, Clintons, etc, in Nigeria. The problem is that the selection process, that OUR values impose, eliminates them. "Kills" them before they grow.

Re: Emeka when when when ???

Mekus, your contribution as always is constructive and good content driven something that OMO is yet to grab and learn from.
I completely agree with your position, yes we need to humbly admit, emulate, gauge, stimulate, enhance efficiencies etc. I also accept that it’s not just a question of THEM but also US.
Well, I don’t know, but for whatever reason, I strongly believe that every Nigerian knows that Naija go better when we do all these things you stated.
But you must agree with me that we need a leader or leaders that are radically driven by patriotism to turn things around.
When when when and when will he image? Is it ever possible for a Putin of Nigeria to emerge? When? when the dogs grow horns or when the cows start laying eggs??? when? Vot v chem. vopros as the Russians will say.

OMO - RE: When ? When ? When ?

OMO – just a simple question for you; can you please mention a country where all its citizens reside within? If you successfully give me a single example, take my word, my bags and baggage will immediately be packed.

Am truly worried about you, if your evidence of a better Nigeria is a mere mobile phone, attributing that brake-through to OBJ is self deception, I can assure you that, was it not for the private hands that revolutionized that sector, it would have been a failure like everything OBJ did, he was the oil minister cum president, where are we with that??? No where and here you are talking balderdash because OBJ issued license to mobile phone operators.
OMO wake up!!! wetin dey worry you now, wake up!!!

When when when ?

When we are humble enough to admit that we ALL have not done enough.

When we are ready to identify and emulate the attributes of the successful nations.

When we gauge our performance by the world's standards, rather than by the "Nigerian factor".

When we stimulate healthy competition by permitting true federalism, local control of derived resources, etc;

When we enhance efficiencies by doing the immediate above.

When we realize that there is much more to be derived from optimized agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism, than from oil.

When we understand that the best value is derived from oil, when it locally drives agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, etc.

When we understand that activities like manufacturing, tourism, farming, etc directly impacts on the middle class, whereas predominantly rent based activities e.g crude export, fuels corruption and mainly benefits the top.

When we encourage informed people of proven performance and integrity to aspire to public offices.

When we encourage foreign investment in our economy. (I only read in Thisday, of today(?), that the Chinese have canceled a $200 million investment in Imo state, with potential to create 20,000 jobs, thanks to the 'Niger delta' kidnap business).

When we focus on the little things, and build up to the larger things.

When we understand that it took years of individual pain, sacrifice, and discipline, to build the successful nations; and the continuing vigilance of all, to preserve their legacies.

The transition could start today, we may get there tomorrow, or perhaps, in a few generations. It all depends on US. The sure thing is that, to get there, WE (not just them) must change our ways. Period.

Re: Why? why? why???

Where the questions are WHY the answers are clear, as provided already by those that have contributed, Emeka, 5Alive and Amandi.

Where the questions are HOW to improve, I also believe the answers are clear; we evidently need to change our attitude as a nation. We are in a dare need of Radical PATRIOTS in Aso Rock to turn things around 360 degrees.

Where the questions are WHEN – Frankly here I surrender, because I don’t know, I sincerely have no idea. At times I feel that “when” will never show up.

While Ofeke asks WHY WHY WHY WHY I ask WHEN WHEN WHEN?????

The State of the Nation.

I want to state categorically that Mr. President should free himself from the clutches of those who feel Nigeria is there personal belonging, to be used any how. Mr. President you are now the one in charge and it is by God's and not by the powers of those who manipulated the elections. God could still stop it if he wanted to, so begin to see things from this angle and be objective in your actions and decisions. Know it that you will be held for your own rule irrespective of who advises you or took actions on your behalf. Stand up as a man, challenge what need to be challenged and commend what need to be commended. So, if EFCC wants to make arrest then every body that stole from the previous adminstration must be brought to book. Arresting only those that are not o yes boy to the former president goes to show that the fingers of Obasanjo is still in this government. What happens to others? The Odili's, the Ibori's, the Igbinedion's just to mention a few. Mr. President beware of these people who will help destroy that you want to build. Well, we are watching and we shall see what will happen at the end but be careful.
