Caste composition - answers

Prabhat,
I am not sure if I understood your questions, but looks like you have raised pertinent questions. There are and were institutions apparentely dominated by upper worked in favour of lower castes. I agree with you here. There are always rational upper caste persons sympathetic to the cause of lower castes. Ambedkar came into prominence due to his upper caste well wishers. Upper caste dominated supreme court upheld Mandal commission due to their enlightened views. Elsewhere, civil right movement in America succeeded due to well meaning whites. Disadvantaged class cannot progress without support from the priviledged class.

But not all in priviledged class are enlightened and unprejudiced and that's the reason why we need reservation and quotas. Constitution layed out reservation/quota due to Ambedkar. It is due to reservation we have a middle class in SC/ST. Supreme court is largely rational but it is not completely free from prejudice. There is no justification to limit reservation to 50%?

You cannot deny that there is casteism and discrimination based on caste. Caste composition in various insitutions is one way to measure it. It is well known fact discrimination based on caste has gone down over the years. At the same time we see more people from lower castes everywhere, from education to professionals to politics. But again, we have a way to go..

Governor's role

There is no role for the governors, anytime. In my view they exist due to flaw in the constitution. They are designed to "control" state governments. It is tacit way of saying that the states are not responsible enough to govern themselves.
In fact governors (and "active" judges) create to nothing except create dual power centre interfering the functioning of legitimate governments.

Jharkhand Gov. ---- What an Idiot !!

Viru, before you get upset with Jharkhand Governor, answer the question as follows:

Who is responsible - the person who gave SUPARI or 'supari killer'?

Before you strip him of his position or court punishes him, it is more important to restore democracy and install the govt of people.

Justice delayed is justice denied - hence, waiting like Goa is not a solution.

Jharkhand Gov. ---- What an Idiot !!

The Jharkhand Governor, who is this guy?? Does he not realize that India is a democracy, what the hell is he trying to do.. go out of his way to show how partisan he really is? What he did is outrageous, and he should be stripped of his position. If he were in any western country with a true democracy ie. the US, he would have been stripped of his position, and possibly have had action taken against him. Instead, because he is in India, and part of the UPA govt., he is getting away with this. Shame on him, and shame on UPA. govt. for allowing this farce.

Caste composition

It does not make any sense to discuss caste composition. Let us drop this topic. I have few questions for Rajesh. I hope to hear from him.

(1) Who is supposed to check crimes in Bihar? Law and Order? Robbery?

(2) Who is supposed to check kidnappings in Bihar?

(3) Who is supposed to maintain proper roads in Bihar?

(4) Who is supposed to make sure that governments schools actually open every working day and not only on salary day?

(5) Who is supposed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all residents of Bihar?

Please give me honest answers. Who should take responsibility for these five items? Certainly not Govt of Andhra or Govt of WB. Someone from state of Bihar must take the responsibility. WHO?

Mr . Papu Yadav

Thanks for your reply but to my dismay that question was posed to Mr buta singh and not to someone so predictable like you. Yes, i am talking from long distance but what you are doing by being so close. I am just 26 and fortunately got an opportunity to study in other sttaes of India too. I had many fights and dbetaes in other parts of India regarding my state. Where were you then perhaps on ashok rajpath hitting and auto walla. I have been always long distant from my state but in all capacity irrespective of who is in charge of state have fought for my state. dear friend, atleast garv se bolo bihari hai and use the name given by your father?.

Sanatan

Shahabuddin

This is the same "Shahbu AK-47" who had kept over a dozen Congress and other Independent legislators' inside a Patna hotel during Government formation in the year 2000 when he along with some unknown faces camped at the hotel for two days. Result: The seven-day old Nitish Kumar Government fell and the RJD returned back to power. Once again he is on the same mission.

Representation

Prabhat,
Again, you keep harping about development and Manmohazation. Of course all problems will be gone once this land turn into heaven. I am talking about the journey.
You and most other in this forum are not ready to accept that it is problem if one section or caste does not get adequate representation. It is not exactly related to the economic development. US is very rich country but there is problem of racial unequality due to unfair representations and skewed development. Back home the division (based on caste) is much wider.

ELECTION RESULT

Mr. Buta singh, governor of Bihar, must be taking an evening class of mathematics by at least ten IIT graduate to solve the puzzling mandate of the recent election in Bihar, 2005. It is one of the most complex mandates offered by one of the most complex states of India. Bihar is a classical example of how God and Evil can Co-exist in same place without creating a separate niche. It is a state that has produced most number of IAS/IPS and at the same time most number of so called "tainted minister". It is a state that has, if not best, but a glorious history and a very disturbing present. It is perhaps the only state in India where major election issue was something that happened in another state (Gujrat). The famous slogans that were used this time were Lalu jayega, naya Bihar aayega, Sarkaar badaliye, Bihar badlega, Teer Se Lalten Bhedo, Pandrah Saal Bura Haal, Abhi Nahi to Kabhi Nahi . To me, these all sounds more like bollywood titles for a Karan Johar movie rather than a election slogan. These all slogans are just hate-based slogan and none of them reflects the promise to develop the state. Amidst all this, finally the people of Bihar thank to election commission and some bureaucrats, freely casted their vote. It took almost a month to finish the election process (it takes just a day to elect a president in the U.S) that saw many star politicians, bollywood stars and police forces from many states. Now the result has come out of much hyped election to stir another round of manipulation and controversy? It is a very difficult situation to form alliances, as the entire vote has been casted on the basis of hate towards parties and leaders. People have voted out of frustration and not liking to a particular party. Those who hate Mr. Lalu Prasad have voted either for LJP or NDA. Similarly those who hate NDA have voted for either LJP or RJD. To make, situation worst the voting pattern were also affected by caste and religion. I am sure whatever the final decision Mr. Buta Singh will take, it will have an implication on the central government also as many who are ruling together in center were "friendly" fighting in Bihar. It is also clear by this election that we cant judge the verdict of whole state. I think this is a very complex situation, what do you think Mr. Buta Singh?.

Judge yourself !!!!!

Friends,
Why we have a tendency to put blame on leaders of political parties for the present plight of bihar. Leaders and political parties definately playes a crucial role for the development of state at macro level. I guess the need of hour is to evaluate our self at micro level, What any political party has to do when a common man refuses to pay another common man lets say a student to a rikkshaw puller. I personally feel that value of ethics has very much detiorated in our beloved state. Unless we start respecting each other, we really cant expect a big change from any government is formed in bihar. The best possible soulution that I see is to start from each and every street in Bihar where we make sure that all kind of justice is done to all. Ofcourse we all cant be a police officer but definately a moral officer.Once we get straighten the basic things in our state , I am sure we will be in much good shape to judge which government will do good for us.

"The newer the things the greater is the opposition but that does not mean we should be scared of trying" otherwise still the earth would have been flat instead of round.

Jai Bihar,
Sanatan.
