He has become the centre and guardian of criminals, terrorists and all kind of anti social elements, who want to make their fortune by not working hard but snatching and even killing people, who have worked hard and earned their livelyhood. I am so dumb founded that you even say that media, judiciary and all other sensible people are after Laloo because he is a real "Champion of lower caste people". You can not digest the idea that Laloo is harming poor people and Bihar than anyone else; specially at the time when India is progressing leaps and bounds and making its name and credit for the reforms and economic devt in the world. It is sad to have people like you in Bihar, who still thinks that Laloo is something doing right beacause millinons of people are criticizing him for the harm he has done to Bihar and the people of Bihar specially poor people. |

I know that he is put "comfortably" in Breur jail due to High court directive. I don't claim that Laloo Yadav is willing for total crackdown on Ranbir sena and all his heart goes for the landless. But his administration is definitely less friendly to the feudal landlords and less hostile to the restless landless farmers. I remember he did initiated some crackdown on feudal Bhumihars but only to get strong reaction from the judiciary. Unfortunately his top concern is to remain in power and it is not possible by antagonizing the Brahmanical framework of the country. |

What I was trying to say that Laloo has done harmed most to his own community and poor people and he cannot full them longer. The poor people of Bihar needs industries, jobs, electricity, water etc so that they can feed themselves and their children with pride and respect. Yes, Laloo is ruling Bihar but you know why? Because he went to Sonia Gandhi against whose family's dynasty he fought, with begging in the name of "Women's right and first woman chief minister of Bihar". It seems that you are so in love with Laloo that you will even drink his "Mutra" thinking that it may be as good as "Gangajal" as it is coming from Laloo. Another example of his cowardice act that he is trying woo the same community (Bhumihar) against whom he fought in the name forward and rich community. Presently, he is trying every thing possible to please this community and has almost surrender before this community. Within one or two weeks, you will see that he will be going to attend the meeting and will say "Dr. Sri Krishna Sinha" was a great chief minister of Bihar and so on. You are just an idiot. |

According to Mr. Verma we have deviated from the topic of discussion. Look Mr. Verma, writing for/against Laloo is a part of Original topic only. We are having healthy discussion only not misusing the "novel platform" at all. And please dont criticize anyone for being him Laloo supporter. We are having fair discussion only, we cannot pressurize anyone to change his political loyalty. There is nothing bad if some one is a supporter of Laloo or RJD. I am seeing one good out come after so much of discussion.. at least Rajesh agreed that Bihar could have been more developed state after 12 yrs of Laloo RAJ. That is enough!!. we should not expect more that it by discussing on net. So I dont think that we were misusing the platform. |

Only criminals and no one else in backward community like Laloo because he has harmed this community very badly. Even good people from yadav community do not like and respect Laloo and his catorie of goons and that is why Ranjan Prasad (who is Professor in Patna Univ and a Yadav) left Laloo's camp and trying to bring changes in Bihar. I personnally know many from yadav community who even does not want to be associated with Laloo. So, Rajesh you need to better understand Laloo and his goons. They are just making Bihar a living hell. People can not walk on the street of Patna or any town after 6-7 PM as no body know what will happen to them. They will either be looted or killed. Kidnapping is every day business and most of the people who are involved are none other than goons and relatives of Laloo. I jsu wanted to let Rajesh know that Laloo is nothing but a caricature and worst evil in Bihar. |

I have also observed that people tried to misuse this novel platform that provides an opportunity to express one's opinion on certain issues. Like, presently the issues is "How you rank your MP". In stead of voting or making comment about the MP, people are trying to make their (for/against) Laloo. Rajesh seems to be completely ideologically preoccupied with Laloo and makes his raguements based on the people who do not like Laloo (He has mentioned in his latest comment). It is sad to read that people like Rajesh (who seems to be educated; atleast he can have access to computer and can write his opinion in english) time and again just trying to make his arguements that Laloo is a "Great Champion of poor and downtroden people of Bihar" as many people (he assumes that all people who do not like Laloo or his policy belong to upper caste, however; one of the person wrote that Laloo has harmed Bihar very badly and he is a backward). But all other people's argument do not make sense to Rajesh, who just can not think that no body else but Laloo is solely responsible for putting Bihar on the downside of the road. He just needs to open his mind that Reservation is not answer of all evils, it just provides opportunity only for the people who are educated and if poor people are not educated, how they are going to get benefit of Laloo's reservation. The best example is Chandra Prabha Naidu, who has changed AP for good and people respect him beyond India for his good work. Generating Naxalites/criminails is not the solution to make a society prosperous. Good govenrnence, honesty, Good education, jobs, infrastructure etc are that make a great society. It is true that sometimes Bihar used to be a great place of civilization but it was long time ago. We are living in present and present of Bihar does not look good. People are very badly suffereing under Laloo. So, Rajesh you need to wake up from your close mindedness and move beynd this upper caste/lower caste, reservation etc. These are not the soultions of Bihar. I agree with Mr Sinha, who tried very nicely to explain you the evils of bad governance and he cited example of Russia and America (that is he meant when he asked you to figure you out about the country). You may be living in Bihar or outside Bihar (even in America) but that does not mean that your opinion is well thought out. Try to read some literature, some good works of great writers, and smoe modern economists and enrich yourself before making Laloo "A GREAT LEADER AND CHAMPION OF POOR PEOLE". Thanks. |

First, let me clarify that I am not an advocate for society based on communist ideology. It replaces one kind of totalitarism with another. In firmly believe that Laloo brought some welcome changes. People at the lower strata are now more aware of their rights. It helped in checking feudalism. I also don't I agree that institutions (lofty name for government depts) are destroyed. They were worthless to begin with! There wasn't any electricity, water supply or roads during pre-Laloo days. Employment opportunities were not there before either. People used to go to South Bihar (now Jharkhand) for jobs. It used to rain (not rain) and flood (drought) before as it is now. I fail to see any detoriation (except for the upper strata who are making tantrum for loosing priviledge and power). But with all the difference in opinion I do agree that things should have been better now after 12 years of Laloo rule. But I don't see any credible alternative. All the people lined up to replace him want to turn clock back to bad old days. |

I will give you some examples why I am used that language for you. 1. When communism came in Russia, people thought that a great society will be built in Russia on the basis of making richer poor and educated people to do farm works. It was a great dream. You know what happened after 70 yrs of Communist rule in Russia; the whole society collapsed, coruption flourished, gangster took over the party and at the end the whole country collapsed overnight in 1991. This never happened in history that a country become poor overnight and more than 60% people went below the poverty line. 2. Contrary to the communists, the good and descent people did not make compromise with the communists, survived, and showed them their door. The result of that resistance brought communism down, people became free and good thing started to happen in Russia. 2. Contrary to Russia, the country that took the path of progress, encouraged people to explore their talents without any hinderance from the govt, became one of the richest country in the world (you can figure out about which country I am talking). Now, your arguements that "Laloo is doing something that is making upper cast people uncomfortable" and that means Laloo is a great leader and champion of weaker people (eg backward castes, SC/ST). To make you to understand that Laloo is the worst leader for the poor and lower caste people as during his regime, the poor people can not send their kids to schools, can not get a job as he has not created a single job rather destroyed all the instutions that might have given few jobs. So, reservation for what? Yes, he made these people to become criminals. Contrary to that the upper caste people are still doing better as they are sending their kids to study outside Bihar because they are conscious for their kids education and jobs are being created in private sector and they are getting better jobs. If you are really from Bihar and have visited recently, judge yourself but you have to have your brain working otherwise if you are part of that reservation you are incompetent to assess what Laloo has done to Bihar. Time will show how Laloo will end his life? Once again, I will advise you to keep your mouth shut and do not mislead poor lower caste people. May God give you some sense and dignity. |
| Posted By: Rajesh Posted On: Jan 22, 2004 Views: 409 | Laloo and Bihar Earlier I had doubt about Laloo Yadav's role towards the betterment of Bihar. Bihar's roads are worst in the country. It has few avenues for jobs for the educated class. High illiteracy, low income and so forth. But after witnessing overwhelming and determined anti-Laloo forces, my opinion is changed and now my view about Laloo is becoming clear. Let me draw parallel to the anti-reservation forces in Bihar and elsewhere in India. These forces exist due to the effectiveness of the reservation or quota system for the depressed class, especially SC/ST. If it does not benefit SC/ST then it would not cause discomfort to the higher castes and so the need for opposing resevervation would not arise. It proves that at least one government program work. Now coming back to Laloo saga, it appears that he is causing great discomfort to the upper/priviledged class. So his regime must be doing something good for others. I realize that it is very hard to substantiate this claim knowing well known bias of the media and my limited exposure to Bihar. But one can't miss the point that naxalite movement gained strength, which is an indication of rural poor mobilization, only during Laloo's regime. The rise of Ranbir sena indicates that the police became ineffective (in harrassing the rural poor). I am not saying that the administration is now friendly to the downtrodden, but it is definitely less hostile. After all any kind of rule, including Laloo's, has to function within Brahamanical framework in Bihar and in India. |
